The New Bond

Description

The last thing I expected on the day my second class would unlock was to find a dragon egg hidden under an illusion. That would have been great, someone to spend my time with in the forest beside the wolves, not that I didn't enjoy their company. The problem was that on the same day, my mother also broke the news that I would have to leave the forest to attend an academy run by humans and elves. To say this is not the day I expected would be an understatement.

Full of spells, skills, and levels with a dash of sarcasm and fluffy ears, please enjoy a new world where Aster and her bond aim to make the most of what they are given while at the same time learning how the realm they live in works.

Note for RR: I plan on releasing the chapters at theveryleast twice a month (Likely Once A week)

I can’t wait to see what this event will bring and what treasures they will find! I have some theories about different characters and I can’t wait to see if I’m right!

First couple chaps I was a little confused as to the races of the characters, soon became apparent though. MC is human raise by wolves, but have intelligence and ability to communicate.
On the day of her second class unlock she finds an egg which then bonds with her. But also gets told that she will be leaving the forrest and travelling to a human city and attending the academy there.
As of chap 23, there has been a fair amount of world building, introduction of characters and learning of what skills and magic do. And we are just about to enter the first dungeon.
I've enjoyed it and recommend giving it a read.

The New Bond by Null Fel offers a delightful blend of magic, adventure, and heartfelt bonds. Aster’s discovery of a dragon egg hidden under an illusion sets the stage for a story that balances exploration, progression, and charming character dynamics.
The setting is engaging, with a world of spells, skills, and levels that LitRPG fans will appreciate. Aster’s sarcasm and the presence of fluffy companions—wolves and dragons alike—infuse the story with warmth and wit. The shift from forest life to an academy run by humans and elves adds an intriguing layer as Aster navigates a new environment while growing alongside her bond.
While the pacing leans toward steady world-building rather than constant action, the narrative’s focus on relationships and self-discovery makes it a refreshing read. Fans of magical academies, loyal bonds, and a protagonist with just the right amount of sass will find The New Bond a charming and worthwhile addition to their reading list.

Overall I'm enjoying this book. I like the MC and I think her immaturity and ignorance of other humans is well done. Important characters feel well fleshed out. I won't go into detail on every category, but here are the major ones that stick out to me.
Spelling & Grammar: The spelling and grammar mistakes are very frequent in this story. I don't expect it to be perfect but it's much worse than typical for RR. Even a simple spell check would be an improvement. Using the wrong word as if autocorrect messed up is very frequent. There are also massive inconsistencies in naming. The MC's mother is usually Kulni, but occasionally Kluni. Her adventuring teacher is Herny as often as he is Henry. Supposedly the first book has been edited but I find that hard to believe.
Inconsistencies: Thankfully these are never significant, but they are frequent. Apart from the naming issue above, another example is skills. One of her skills is upgraded and now takes 100 mana and she spends time considering how that will limit her use of it. She then continues to use it casually and frequently enough that she should run out of mana but doesn't. Then she gets another and she's shocked at the huge amount of mana it uses - a full 100! Thankfully it's also much stronger than the other comparably weak skill despite the fact that they supposedly use the same amount of mana.
Multiple POVs: I avoid books with multiple POVs, but thankfully this one is tolerable. I do enjoy seeing things from the perspective of other characters around the MC. The one thing I dislike, and the reason I avoid multiple POV books, is the other character we occasionally follow. It seems likely they will become relevant at some point but it feels like we're getting an awful lot of their background, and it's neither necessary nor interesting. The one upside is that it gives us a look at the other country that's been mentioned, but I feel that there could be more interesting ways to do that.
Flaws aside I am enjoying this st
