Description
Magic was chaos. Now it’s chemistry. Through Stoichiomancy, power is measured, quantified, and controlled. Ascension follows a strict ladder, each tier with a fixed number of sanctioned seats. Initiate. Apprentice. Adept. Master. Archmage. There are no anomalies. Until Arielle Blacksoil. Born to a bloodline without magic, Arielle should have been invisible to the system. Instead, a freak accident reveals the impossible: She’s an unsanctioned archmage. If discovered, they’ll strip her power or turn her into a weapon. To survive, Arielle enrolls in the Academy and pretends to climb the ranks while hiding magic that eclipses her professors. For the first time in her life, she has rivals, teammates…maybe even friends. But hiding overwhelming power isn’t easy. Pretty soon, she’s embroiled in faction conflict, foiling villainous plots and hunting a mysterious primordial that lurks in the dark. --- - Updates M-Th (4X/Week) / Daily Chapters while on Rising Stars! - 2500 - 3500 word chapters - OP MC - Hidden Genius at a Magic Academy - Magic System Blending Cultivation and Chemistry

the story is already gearing up to be very interesting with exciting foreshadowing. The motivations of characters and their actions are believable. The magic system is cool and creative, with some excellent downsides that make it feel like part of a real world rather than just a plot device. No grammatical errors.
Read this, you won’t regret it, it’s very good - M1stycznyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a really great story so far, and the main character Arielle is written masterfully, she is on the spectrum and as far as I know it is done well. She is a prodigy in magic, however she struggles with social interactions because of her very logical mind. It is hard to judge other characters, they are not developed yet. Good characters need to be distinctive and cohesive so that you can feel they can think and live by themselves and not just be a background. This is not a comedy but still the story many times made me laugh out loud, most of it is because of Arielle social misunderstandings, it is not jarring and done in moderation. The world is interesting, we only got glimpses of it and the author is not bombarding you with lore, there is a cohesive magic system that is based on molecules but also has some less hard magic elements, it is not explained yet like some of Arielle's abilities. I would like to have less LITRPG vocabulary but it is not a major complaint. So far there is not any major plot or villain for the main character and that is OK, with good character and cohesive world there is no need to rush and focus on development. I am looking forward to what happens to MC and other characters.
- DoctorPepsiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Absolutely loving this so far, the mc is a high functioning autist that is constantly battling internally to be "normal". Whilst many authors would point out this "flaw", Onedayokay just lets the internal monologue explain everything beautifully.
The magic system is very intriguing too combining science and mathematics by bonding elements that have positive and negative charges to be neutral for succes.
Looking forward to see where this goes. - DrNguyenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I actually originally avoided this story. Normally, Archmage stories are commonplace in RoyalRoad, and my main gripe with them is that they oftentimes focus on the magic as opposed to the characters. However, after giving The Archmage Coefficient another glance, I was blessed upon one of my favorite reads on this website.
Character Score (5/5): Arielle is such a joy to read. Arielle, our protagonist, is someone who’s a natural genius, capable of replicating any spell due to her eidetic memory. However, the captivating point of her character is that she’s a neurodivergent. (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure she is Autistic) Not only is this my first time reading a story with such a character, but the author, onedayokay, managed to portray what people having autism through Arielle in such a succinct and brilliant way. Arielle’s lack of nuance, ostracization, and different (not wrong!) way of thinking all add so many different intricacies to her character. The way she fails to understand nuance, is unfalteringly blunt, and how she gets overstimulated in certain settings shows how the author did extensive and respectable research on what Autistic people experience. Coupled with the fact that our world is in a fantasy setting without modern medicine, and it’s understandable why Arielle had such a difficult time growing up. Not only that, side characters such as Elric and Lyra and their dynamics with Arielle feel so human. You can tell the wholesome kindling of a familial relationship between Arielle and Elric, and the animosity experienced by Lyra due to her self-doubt being exacerbated by Arielle’s (not purposefully) blunt comments flesh out the novel so nicely.
Story Score (5/5): It’s a school plot with politics and machinations. It’s great! Arielle’s quest to understand the world, learn magic, and build meaningful relationships are all integral and well used elements to propel the narrative. Also, her accidental “showing off” are some of my favorite parts o - AveryBrownRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Apart from the protagonist’s perspective, the biggest appeal to the story as of yet is the magic system. Lots of world building includes “affinities mana types” but this is the first I’ve seen that tries to take a particle charge approach. Hopefully the mathematical theme develops more as the story evolves rather than just being a catchy gimmick of the magic system.
- KhrissRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Read if you want to try out something very refreshing and surprisingly human. The story moves quickly through the lens of our very neurodivergent MC, and it's a wonderfully clear reminder of the power of first person POV. Even when we get to other character POVs, the change in writing style or speaking style is evident, which is also fun to experience. Combined with an interesting magic system and a cast of characters who we are slowly learning more of, it seems like this is a ride I'll be looking forward to!
- GraceBMorgan_Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Every detail of this story draws you in. From the incredibly well designed magic system to the characters that all feel multidimensional to the portrayal of a young woman who appears to be on the spectrum as she tries her best to navigate the world around her. She's balanced as a character, struggling with fundamental rules of engagement, trying her best and never quite fitting in. I identifyhardwith even the small interactions she has with other characters, and the best part is I think pretty much anyone could. Her awkwardness is as palpable as the looming tension promised in the premise, present in every day interactions that everyone has fumbled at least a few times in their life. This isn't just a "trope" story. This is a well balanced narrative that really captivates the audience from the start with stakes that are real, both when they are large and when they are small. The trope is there. It exists. But it's so much more. The writing is impeccable--grammar, characters, style, the whole shebang. The magic system made my nerd brain go brrrrrrr. Numbers for math nerds, applications drawn from physics, and interactions drawn from chemistry, it has a touch of it all.Seriously. Read this. It good.
- HeavenlyVemillionBirdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very strong, interesting and Enjoyable beginning. I hope it keeps going that way, I love the characters, Ari and her Family, Elric and even the baker we met earlier, they are all fun character. I am enjoying the world building and looking forward to it expanding more. All in all a great read so far.
- J TecoyoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am very much enjoying this story. The author's portrayal of an autistic MC is exceptional, consistent and accurate based upon my reading and interaction with people I've known on the spectrum. Many authors do the weak to strong trajectory, this is the first fiction I have ever read where autism is woven into the fabric of the story so points for creativity and the author has my massive respect for doing so so very skillfully. That scene where the MC was patting herself on the back for self-comfort because that was what her father used to do was well observed and heartbreaking.
- MinorlyAmusingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have zero complaints.
The magic system is fun, the MC is adorable, and the characters have an individual personality!
The pacing is just so, not speeding and not plodding, which makes the read smooth.
The only thing that is really "Missing" is an overarching plot, but it's still going and still has Plenty of time to introduce to us something that we can look forward to.
However, as it currently stands it's perfectly binge worthy!
10/10 Would read again.
