Start off by saying that the latest chapter that I've read finally tipped me wildly into liking this story, not to say I didn't like it before, but this solidified it for me.
"The 4th Princess Just Wants to Rot!" acts as a tragic comedy, as all the best comedies must be in that, without spoiling, everyone thinks she must be the incarnation of their goddess with how deceptive she is. Respected by her people and feared by the world, only a certain few know of her true personality.
Which leads me into the characters and story. It's flat out amazing, the characters have depth, emotion, and Yono makes it easy to want to know more about them and their history/who they are. The story and setting is much the same in that the amount of worldbuilding behind the scenes is awe-inspiring, and grabs your attention by just showing little glimpses here and there of the lore. The constant misunderstandings remind me of Youjo Senki in how Sohpia just wants to left alone, yet keeps finding herself in situations that make that impossible. The perspective from other characters is truly hilarious and at times brings a sense of gravity that grounds you.
I recommend this to anyone and everyone. If you like Youjo Senki, villianess books, or good writing in general, then this is for you!

This has everything I love in a story and is objectively very well written. It has a compelling plot, interesting characters, a fleshed out world with deep history that keeps expanding, and plenty of reason to keep reading.
My only complaint would be that it's one of those stories that's based entirely on characters misunderstanding one another and not clearing things up through communication, but in this case the characters have a good reason not to communicate. The two main characters are strangers and lack any trust since trust takes time to build. They also can't read minds, so neither understands why the other side acts the way they do not do they know their motivations. It's not as frustrating as many of these stories tend to be, because the plot is so well thought out.
If you like MCs that wanna shirk responsibility, but still step up when their ethics demand it, then you're golden. It's also slice of life, but there are challenges that arise. It's not all inane chatter and perfect lives. It's a great story. I suggest 10 chapters. If you don't like it, then pass, because that should be enough to give you a fair look at what it's about.

The 4Th Princess Just Wants to Rot is a wonderful tale recounting the adventures of Sophia Elise the Eight, the princess of a big empire whose only desires in life are to rot in bed while eating donuts and reading smutty novels of questionable quality. And the world is, in my opinion, extremely lucky that that's all she wants to do, because the goddess (of this story) knows what she would be capable of doing if she was more ambitious.
The story itself, so far, is all about her hilarious attempts at getting all these things... outside of her empire, after she was politically engaged to the prince of another country. Safe to say, shenanigans abound as she attempts to keep up a facade of emotionless integrity and seriousness - and succeeds all too well, in some cases.
Honestly, the most hilarious thing is the way she keeps interacting with the 'voices' in her mind palace.
The characters of this story are simply... *Chef kiss*: even the side characters have more depth than some main characters found in some stories on this site. And as for the main cast, goodness me if there isn't a depth to fall into, an endless pit ready to swallow you whole and never let go as you find yourself obsessively reading more and more until you realize it's 5 in the morning. And then you go insane when the Next Chapter button gets grayed out beacuse you've reached the end.
I cannot overstate how brilliant this premise is, how well written, both grammatically and style wise, it is, and... I have no words left.
Truly, read this story, or I'll come eat your souls in the night.

This story is so cute. Sophie is cute. I like all the characters and the dynamic between Sophia and Zai is hilarious. I usually don't like stories with really short chapters. However, I'll make an exception for this. I have loved every single chapter of this story so far, to the point that I am eagerly awaiting each new chapter.
