Instant hit for me! Characters who’re fighting back against the system? Refusing to bow? Love it!Story: The apocalypse really sucked for Ray. He found himself in a new world being attacked by monsters and living the same nightmare over and over. So he didn’t much like it when the System tried to tell him what to do. Said System decided to hate Ray and kicked him outta the fold. Which is the perfect set up for a totally fresh Litrpg.Character: I loved Ray straight away. His job stank. Then he got thrown into a world that tried to beat him down, but his renegade nature took over. And he didn’t throw in with the regular folk. No, he partnered with the rebels, and the System is out to get all of them.Style: Really funny System. I laughed a lot reading it. Your masochism is rewarded? That’s priceless! The boxes look great and blend with the story. The third person narration is consistent.Grammar: I made one edit suggestion. The rest of it was cleanly edited.Overall: This is a very fresh Litrpg, enjoyable from the get-go. A real stand out since the System isn’t your friend—it’s your nightmare come to life.

I just want to preface this by saying, I am really enjoying this book.Whilst I can see that there are some issues in the earlier stages, these latest chapters have been absolutely amazing. I am loving the variety of beasts being shown while Ray has to deal with constantly fumbling and fighting with the System. The events occurring make me feel like big things are planned and I can't wait to continue reading!

My favorite thing about System Outcast so far is the MC, Ray, and his outright rejection of a System he views as predatory and oppressive.Dude is the very soul of a disgruntled, overworked, and wary salary man.Post-Apocalyptic. I'm a fan.LitRPG with crunchy blue boxes. Fan.Time-Loop. Intriguing.Expect harshness in Ray's environment as he struggles to survive and grow on a hostile world where humans aren't well-liked by other races, a result of their lust for power and resulting general behavior. Also, there's a kitty, and she's cute. So, bonus points from my point of view. What can I say? I'm fond of felinity. The style is solid, and I'm continuing to read. Prose occasionally shifts from Australian to American and back. (Licence instead of license, and so-on.) Sometimes noticeable, but not jarring for me. I'm a fan of Aussie lingo.Grammar is well above-average for an RR story, and it flows. As with most things I read on this site and elsewhere, I find myself catching nits here and there. (It's hard not to notice such things after you've worked with a capable editor.)If you're looking for something to get you away from Earth, to another world with plenty of danger and challenges that keep the MC struggling for advancement against a ruthless System and an unforgiving environment, this could be the ticket.

Okay, let me start prefacing that it really reminds me of the first LitRPGs, but with enough guts to leave the bright world of everything ends well at the end of the fight. Consequences, that's something a lot of the great early titles were always missing. Not in here!Style Score 5:It's fast paced, it's engaging and it keeps me hooked up. I wish a few things were expanded more, but that's my personal taste, it's completely fine if not everything that I want gets expanded upon too deeply.Story Score 5:The worldbuilding is okay so far, I think there is still much to be told at where I am at, but the twist with the usual System LitRPG has me interested to see where the story is going. It kinda reminds me of Delve, in the way that its system heavy, but with a more action packed pace than Delve's complex math. That's all to say, I am looking forward to find out where this is going!Grammar Score 4:Honestly, not many typos or bad sentences, but there is a slightly annoying issue with very long paragraphs. The author should make more use of line breaks. It does get better on the later chapters. Beyond that, nothing else really bothered me. The prose is good and the actions scenes are snappy.Characters Score 5:I must admit I am not a big fan of the pet companion trope, but the author did a good job. It's not goofy or forced, and I have actually been enjoying their interactions. Ray is a character with a lot of potential and has redeeming features. The support cast, like my man Teddy, also feel like real people and not there for plot reasons.

Just finished the first five chapters and I'm invested. The whole premise of a guy getting resurrected on an alien world and then refusing to accept the System's power-up offer is pretty fresh. Most LitRPG protagonists would jump at it, so watching Ray tell this cosmic entity 'no thanks' and get branded as an Outcast for it feels genuinely interesting. The time loop situation in chapters 1-3 is clever too. Reliving the same events until he's already drank the poison water a second time, which is a nice way to create dread without spelling it out. The System trying to sound reasonable after being robotic also gets at something creepy about how it operates.Ray's a good protagonist. He's pragmatic, scared but thinking things through, and he's got this dry sense of humor that keeps things from getting too melodramatic. When he figures out he can mentally activate menus instead of shouting commands? good stuff. The part with Ilaria and the Aliri Clan is interesting conceptually withj whole worlds being assimilated by the System, this ancient resistance war. At this point in the story the characters are still pretty thin. Ilaria's got personality in glimpses but mostly she's exposition delivery. The actual character interactions aren't quite there yet. Also, five chapters in and Ray hasn't really *done* much besides refuse integration and get captured. I like slow burns, but I'm ready to see what being an Outcast actually means mechanically and what he's gonna do about it. The stat system is there but we haven't seen real combat or skill usage since the opening spider fight.Still, it's solid work. Writing is clean, pacing through the exposition is good, and the core concept hooks you. If you want LitRPG that goes against the typical 'accept all power' formula, this is worth reading.

What if system is bad guy and needs your permission to get installed? What happens to you when you do not agree? You are in a grim different realm where System got its hooks in, but it still has work to do for a total world domination. If you ever asked those questions, this novel for you!

"If this was hell, it had a user interface."The first couple of chapters are a bit rough to get through, but as soon as your guy ends up in the next world (chpt. 3), trust me, it's worth it to keep going! I LOVE the sassiness of the greatly offended and omniscient "System," that really adds depth to the world building and lore presented in this story.Ray has a fantastic bit of good ol' Aussie charm and casualness, giving him charisma that is believable and endearing rather than overdone OP abilities. He's had a lot happen to him, but what he knows is business negotiations, and boy does he know how to navigate them! What he lacks in any other kind of skill he makes up for in smooth charm that doesn't feel forced or overdone. He lays things out plainly and simply in a way that is enthralling and believable. The action so far is edge-of-your-seat quality, and as a more action heavy story, it makes a really enjoyable read. I'm hooked and can't wait to read more!

Okay so System Outcast by Chimera Works got me right from the start. Earth gets wiped out. Ray dies. Then he wakes up on some planet called Arkus with a pistol and everything trying to kill him. Standard isekai setup right? Except...not really. Lol.The thing that makes this one different is that Ray says NO to the System. Like he straight up refuses to integrate. And instead of the story just moving on the System keeps pushing. It glitches. It tries different tactics. At one point it shifts from sounding like a robot to being weirdly persuasive. lol, It's funny and creepy honestly. The System isn't just a menu here it's basically a character with an agenda. I found that really good. The early survival stuff is messy in a good way. Ray panics. He fires a shot by accident. There's a giant spider and he barely makes it out alive. Nothing feels smooth or overpowered. It's just a guy freaking out and trying not to die which I appreciated.Once he gets to civilization things open up a bit. There's clan stuff happening with a group called the Aliri and you get more of that fish out of water vibe as Ray figures out how this world works. If you're into LitRPG but you're tired of protagonists just going along with everything and min maxing their stats then this one's a nice change. The whole refusal angle makes it way more interesting to me.

Gave up reading around chapter 30 when the team spent two whole chapters going through the same narrow passageways where Sarah almost gets stuck. After multiple other duplicate scenes, the story lost its appeal to me. Cool premise. Potentially fun characters. But so much was duplicated. Writing quality was ok at the beginning but I found it hard to do anything but speed read through the same scene or even what felt like duplicate chapters before finally giving up. Wouldn't suggest.
