Description

It is twenty-two years before the Battle of Yavin, and the galaxy is at war. Born to a not unimportant, not important planet in the Inner Rim, Rain never placed much thought into his future. After all, the galaxy is vast, and peaceful living should not be hard to find. Two decades later, armies are marshalled, and warships grace the stars, propelled aloft the wings of war. Armed with the knowledge of nine movies, Rain is forced into joining the galactic conflict. On the losing side. *AU with many, many POVs; don't expect a casual self-insert flick

Very well thought through and really well written. The biggest surprise was the description of the naval battles, which is not usually my thing at all, however the way they are described really leads you through complex three dimensional tactical situations with amazing clarity and great pace. However the rest is superbly rendered as well, depth of character, political complexity, personal relationships. Great fun!

So far I'm really liking it, I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm really enjoying reading it and I highly recommend it, give it a chance 😉.
One criticism I have is that it would be nice if they put whose perspective it is with a P.O.V. because sometimes it is difficult to know whose perspective it is.

This story is a massive achievement. Very well documented  and showing a great knowledge of Star Wars lore and characters.
chapter one spoilers: it is the story of a separatist captain in the clone wars that KNOWS the story (the main ideas of the movies, not in depth), he has his own motivations and is integrated in the Star Wars universe.
Naval battles are a very big part of the story but politics slowly creep in. The combination of naval warfare, politics, overall strategy, plotting and different characters and their motivations is masterfully done.
a real gem that surprises you.

I usually tend to stray away from fan fictions but this series was a pleasant surprise. Most sci-fi series on Royal Road do not deliver the intense feeling that this series presents. The ship battles and the politics between characters had me at the edge of my seat throughout this entire story. I feel like this being called a fanfiction is a disservice to the authors love of the universe he's crafted and should be more aptly named a love letter to fans and readers. When reading it feels like a reunion with all of the beloved characters we already know in Star Wars but it builds on that. I can't claim to be the Star Wars aficionado so the lore that I knew was lacking at best when I started this, but the book did not punish me for not knowing what happened elsewhere in the galaxy and presented and explained everything it needed to when it needed it. There are points in the plot that make you wonder where the author would take it next and you will not be disappointed in where it leads. I don't want to spoil anything about the characters and universe because it's so good I think you should at least give it a try and get hooked and learn what happens yourself. I am so excited to see what Mirrth does next because I have confidence that whatever it is will be another great work! Have a good day/night!

Very awesome fanfic, way better then the average fanfic, nice typings, barely any typos or error. Overall one of the coolest fanfic i have read on RR. One complaint is that the conflicts are a rollercoaster. What i mean is that 1 chapter we be chillin, next chapter total chaos, and then 3 chapters later we chillin again

I've always been a fan of space opera, be it from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Space Battleship Yamato to The Expanse and Battlestar Galactica.
I can say that in term of written novel, this is my gem found in this genre. Each chapter is well written and drive the plot forward in one of the many aspects, be it by character developpement, political intrigue or with military advancement.
Never thought I would enjoy a fan fiction but I must admit that the fact that our character is not a jedi with godlike abilities given to him is what makes it so majestic. We can feel the struggles that he face and we are wholy invested because nothing is given... Everything is there for the taking should our main character be up to the challenges ahead. The beauty in his adventure is that he is not alone. Although sometimes his situation made him more solitary than most, we can see him forming is own circle and progressing towards a common goal.
Thank you dear author, may you enjoy writing as much as we enjoy reading your novel!

This feels like a proper story and the star wars stuff are nice, but not necessarily needed.
The politics are engaging, those segments are so well done that dialog chapters have weight to them. It doesn't feel like padding, or a white/black conflict. It feels "human" (or as close to possible with all the aliens running around). The maneuvering, deals, backstabbing. Good stuff all around.
Now, the space battles are a thing of beauty. So few stories get them right. The adrenaline I feel reading battle chapters is not present in several other stories I've read in the past. And it used the Z axis too! Bonus points to that, space doesn't have gravity and there's no up or down, this is taken into account and exploited.
All and all, strip away the star wars paint, trim here and there, and you'll still have a strong foundation beneath. It definitely doesn't need the franchise to flourish on its own.

If your a Star Wars fan you need to give this story a shot. A great representation of characters grand and small. An amazing build up of events from start to finish. Here's hoping we get a sequel that everyone can praise in the future.
Cheers to the author! (Needed something to make the word requirement.)

Can't exaggerate how good this story is. If you're not already reading it you are missing out.
This is a prequel-era Star Wars isekai self insert fanfic... and also a mil-sf naval action strategy story. It sounds weird, but that combo works a lot better than you might expect.
Pacing is great, covering a lot of big sweeping galactic scale events without feeling too slow or too rushed. Big space battles are handled with the dramatic flair they deserve. There's a lot of plotting and talking but even those sections manage to be interesting because of the way it's presented.
It's 1st person but with frequent interludes from other  character POVs. The ambiguous way the protagonist is referred to by everyone else is a little weird and takes some getting used to but otherwise no complaints there. Style is good.
I had to look up some of the side characters on wookiepedia to see if they were really canon (like "General Loathsom") but that's part of the fun. I think a reader unfamiliar with the setting could still enjoy this.
Spelling and grammar errors are infrequent and when pointed out they are quickly corrected by the author.
    Check it out!

This story is great so far! Good pacing, intresting and realistic characters, well written space battles, the list goes on.
What's great about this story is that it isn't a shameless self insert power trip the way many fanfictions unfortunately are. It's a genuine exploration of the "bad guys" of the clone wars through the lense of a smart but not OP MC.
I really like that the MC is not a force user as it really allows us to see the star wars univers the way 99% of it's inhabitants do. It also mean the MC can't just OP his way through issues, allowing for a more interesting plot.
Finally a few minor criticisms: the POV changes are sometimes a bit frustrating when they take you away from the main intrigue.
