The Hero's Villain: My Friend And I

Description
"Every fairy tale needs a good old fashioned villain"- Jim Moriarty
I was the son of a CEO and COO of a consulting company. My whole life, despite never being present for most of it, I'd been trying to get them to notice me. But no matter what I did, they wouldn't do anything. Playing instruments, getting into the 99.9th percentile, or theft, none of it really got their attention.
What happens when you die? Some people think you go to heaven or hell while others think you get reincarnated.
But me? I never gave much thought to the idea. That was until a truck rammed into me.
People are inherently evil and selfish. So, given the option, most people would choose paradise.
However, I reject paradise. God gave me a choice: to either help my friend become a strong and worthy hero as a villain in a new and unknown world, or to pass on to heaven.
But make no mistake. I'm not a good person. I'll do whatever I have to in order to survive or achieve my goals. I will walk on the thin line between hero and villain, sometimes tripping into one side or the other. Some may hate me, and some may root for me. To me, it doesn't matter. As long as I get what I want.
Then he gave me another choice, infinite magic or knowledge.
And I choose...
My first time writing, so if it's bad you know why.

- coolmannderRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5As this is the author's first time writing, it is also my first review. Nevertheless:
- The story leans more towards comedy (it at least makes me smile) than progression fantasy at this point.
- The focus of the story is on strategy, and more on presenting the problem and its solution, contrary to the progression tag.
- There are some well-thought-out scenes.
- The main character feels unrealistic. There is no trauma after torture, and wounds seem to have no long-term consequences. The first kill is treated without much afterthought. The main character is very smart but sometimes seems to act dumb, either for plot progression or for a joke.
- The grammar and spelling appear to be good. I can't recall encountering anything annoying.
- Magic isn't really explored; it feels like it exists solely for the convenience of the plot.
- Technology appears seemingly out of nowhere, or its production is overly convenient which in the end is just waved away as trivial or a product of magic.
- The author introduces elements from the real Earth without explanation, and the main character finds them completely normal.
- Fourth-wall breaks are more common than I would prefer. - LilBrehRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Only criticism here.

Going to say it honestly: The dialogue kind of sucks. I saw a comment saying that this was probably written by a female, and I would also place my bets on that, because the author doesn't seem to know how normal male dialogue and expressions work. There's way too much crying, hugging, etc. And it's not between grandparent and child, but between males of similar ages.
His overall soft behavior doesn't fit his role as a villain.
There's also some character inconsistency with the first "friend" he meets. One chapter he's actually an intelligent kid act-crying, the next he's hugging and crying out of thankfulness.
And his family is a bit too cold to him. It's not like his family is large enough to not care much about each child or small enough to place all their hope on one child, so despite the disappointment, his treatment doesn't fit the bill, since there are enough others to pick up the slack (If this was the only criticism, I'd still give it 5 stars, but it's not).
The mc is a bit too skilled at everything.
Overall, author scammed my time.
