The discovery of the Variant Gene, unlocking unpredictable and often dangerous powers within a growing fraction of the population, has only worsened the divide. Surveillance, containment, and force became the tools of peace. The United States Variant Authority (USVA) and its paramilitary branch, ZED (Zone Enforcement Division), now act as judge, jailer, and executioner across the North American Dominion.

Agent Elizabeth Summers, a ZED-West task force leader stationed in Vancouver, believes in the mission—until reality begins to crack. When her team intercepts a shipment of unidentified Variant prisoners hidden inside retrofitted containment units, it sets off a chain of investigations revealing a black-market operation smuggling powered individuals across the city and beyond. The tech is military-grade. The records are scrubbed. Someone inside the system is pulling the strings.

But Summers' pursuit draws her closer to a myth. A name whispered among rebels, painted on crumbling walls, and marked high on federal kill lists: Spectre — a rogue Variant carrying experimental nanotechnology, a fractured mind, and a vendetta against the world that created him. He’s more than a threat—he’s a ghost in the machine.

As the conspiracy deepens, Summers’ team must navigate corporate mercenaries, buried government experiments, and a growing rebellion brewing within Vancouver’s streets. Trust fractures. Loyalties shift. And in the rising storm, Spectre stalks.
