Soulgyvers [Larger-Than-Life Bastard Policeman Progression Fantasy]

Meet Saon Ladius, rookie cop and mage. He's not cut for a hero, and he considers full blown villainy is too demanding. All he wants is an easy life working as a Retriever, a policeman dedicated chiefly to recovering souls stolen by criminal soulgyvers to power their sacromotors. Sacromotors, in turn, that every Retriever has, as one can only be expected to fight fire with fire.

And in the same way one may be unable to distinguish between two flames, most people see little difference between the Retrievers and a crime organization. Corruption flows rampant through their ranks, pushing for any positive change is met with murder that rarely passes off as an accident,  and theirs are the spells that meet the rightful protests of the civilians face-on. And nobody in the organization would tell you that Saon enjoys engaging in overt acts of corruption, or caught enjoying torturing the innocents: he thinks engaging in acts of petty, pragmatic evilness takes too much effort.Meet Saon Ladius:  Lazy coward, Pro Bono clown and diagnosed psychopath. Accompany him through his life as he goes about annoying the people he considers fun to annoy (something that includes most of the human race) and trying to find ways to fail at following most of his orders without facing severe punishment. He has a Sacromotor made of crows, a complete lack of decency and/or empathy, and feelings for the coffee machine of the ground floor.  And those simple things will have to do.Participant in the April 2025 Writathon
