The 2 MCs are a little older, but their quest on Sapherine picks up where left off.  Some great character development and twists too, with a great cliffhanger.

As someone who simply enjoys fantasy and emotional character journeys, I found Sapherine II to be a surprisingly rich and immersive continuation. Even though I haven’t read the first book, this volume does a great job helping me catch up emotionally with the characters while slowly pulling me into the world of Sapherine again.
    What I Really Enjoyed
    1. Character Dynamics
The relationship between Myra and Jonah is one of the strongest points for me. It feels real... awkward, warm, protective, and at times very vulnerable. I liked how they support each other through trauma, danger, and even everyday moments like going out for ice cream. There’s a tenderness in how they interact that made me root for them as both friends and maybe something more.
    2. Mental Health Representation
Myra’s voices and how she handles public spaces like the mall felt very personal. It gave depth to her character without making it her only trait. The way her internal voices were written, each with their own tone and opinion—was interesting and surprisingly relatable in how people often argue with different parts of themselves.
    3. Smooth Slice-of-Life to Fantasy Transition
I really liked how the story starts with something so grounded, spring break, family, awkward dinners with overprotective brothers and then slowly shifts back into magical runes, flying monsters, and portals. That transition felt natural and actually made the fantasy parts more impactful because I was already emotionally invested.
    4. World and Lore
The runic system, the elemental magic, the mysterious politics with the council and different Kin, there’s a lot to explore here! Even though some terms were new to me, I could feel that the world was well thought out, and I’m curious to learn more.
A Few Small Notes (As a Casual Reader)
Just as someone who loves reading stories like this, here are a few personal thoughts, not as criticism, just little things that I noticed:
Some scenes are very detailed (which I personally enjoy!),

    Sapherine II: Betrayal's Lament
The story has a strong emotional voice and builds a unique atmosphere filled with personality. The protagonist’s internal dialogue is vibrant, and the concept of voices within the mind adds a compelling and memorable dynamic. Character interactions feel natural, and relationships evolve in a way that resonates with readers. The worldbuilding, especially the dual-realm concept and the portal mechanics involving Sapherine, is imaginative and layered with long-term narrative potential. There is a genuine sense of emotional weight behind the characters’ actions and dialogue, which draws the reader in even when the pacing slows.
However, the grammar and sentence flow need significant tightening. There are frequent comma splices, tense inconsistencies, and awkward or unclear phrasing that disrupt immersion. Some scenes rely too heavily on repetition, with internal monologue restating information already delivered through action or dialogue. Certain word choices feel too casual or modern for the emotional tone of the moment. Dialogue formatting and punctuation could be improved for better rhythm and clarity.
Despite these technical flaws, the passion behind the writing is clear. The characters have depth, the world has mystery, and the themes of identity and belonging feel real. With a focused edit pass, this story has the potential to become a truly impactful fantasy tale.
