Description

What if a fantasy world had a system, what if that system owed a favor to an Earthling, who used it to create a VR capsule connecting to the system and unleashed players? Meet Rimelion. A real universe. A fake game. I’m Charlie, but I used to be John. A VR tester with a knack for exploits and a whiskey connoisseur in a near-future world where my job was about to go extinct. A punk kid offered me a way out, a chance to go back and change things. He sent me twenty years into the past - a day before the Earthling unleashed the players into the Rimelion. Fortunately, in this timeline, my hacker friend is alive and kicking and got me inside the game. Unfortunately, he sneaked me into Rimelion as the avatar of his dearly departed lover. And thanks to my glitchy VR capsule, my real-world body matched the virtual one, forcing me to navigate Earth as a girl, and Rimelion as an elven priestess. Seriously, fighting in high heels? I knew from the future I left behind that it’ll take only a few years before the system offers getting isekai’d to Rimelion to help defend against a demonic invasion. By ritual death on Earth. To stop the dystopia I was yanked out, I’ll need allies on both sides. In Rimelion, I have to climb the noble ranks and get powerful. On Earth, outwit the government and save people from ritual deaths. And everywhere? Dodge the AIs hunting me while exploiting. The odds? Not great. But I never played fair anyway. You can support me on Patreon. The best genderbender litRPG on Scribblehub is back, now on RoyalRoad. :D
I remember reading this way back a few years ago. Overall the story is a pretty decent tale of our main charicter, who gets wrapped up in a reality bending conspericy to take over the world.
I think the higher quality of this rewrite is also pretty good. Glad it’s back.

It's a decent story if you like mystery and conspiracies.
An alcoholic has to defend her life both in the game world and the real world whilst also trying to keep the world leading into a dystopian future.
She also has to manage her identity and try to figure out what is going on with her, leaving her with mixed emotions.
Decent story with a lot of potential, a bit disappointed that it's probably been dropped by now.

I accidentally came into the story. I usually go for science fiction heavy stories, yet this sci-fi for sure. However, is goes a different road of main character trying save the world, with unique way going between near cyberpunk ruin world to VR fantasy setting where could of the real world's outcome hinges what happens in this VR world.
Characters are more real and flawed people, which is pleasant change of pace.

I have just started reading and so far I'm thoroughly enjoying the story, a bit of a mix between VR and IRL. So far character development has been well thought out and constructed. I truly hope the story continues to be so inspirational. Personally I'm finding the transition between genders to be a little bit lacking, the main character seems to be transitioning with no type of dysphoria. Though that's okay cuz like I said I truly have been enjoying the fluffy story. Grammatically the story has been very well written, the characters so far have been rich and very diverse. I'm excited to see where the the arthur takes the story in the future. I've been looking for a good litRPG and while not the biggest fan of the virtual reality stories this one has picked my interest and I will keep reading for a while. Some days doing advanced reviews can be difficult because I'm not really much of a talker and I don't like to nitpick other people's stories so at this point I'm really just filling out words so I can do my advanced review. The story style has been nice and smooth so far I'm excited to learn who these background characters are especially the ones that are taking place across the universe. And since I know I'm writing this after the story is done been written for quite a while I'm sure I'll find out.

Bit of a rough start, but really shapes up to be a really good story.
In the beginning, some of the “simulation” business is confusing and could be explained better, but as you read more, more things start making sense. Some things are still glossed over though, but they’re pretty minor.
There were no issues with the grammar, and the characters appear pretty well thought out.

Its a lot of fun for the ingame setting, but some of the of the interpersonal stuff is difficult to follow. Reminds me of reincarnation of the sword god light novel.

I really wanted to like this story, but the execution is lacking. Spoilers (warnings?) for up to chapter 9.
The summary, up until I stopped being willing to put up with the story, is that a long-closeted trans woman, John, with alcoholism and debilitating social anxiety works in QA for the VRMMO that's swept the post-scarcity (utopian? dystopian? author seems unsure) society. As part of her job, she's become extremely competent at exploiting the game, though she's only ever been able to play on the test servers.
    Neat premise, so far...
She gets fired because she did her job too well, so there aren't enough bugs. When she's well into the process of drowning her sorrows, a mysterious individual shows up and offers her the chance to go back in time 20 years, because the world is also a simulation or something. She agrees while drunk, and wakes up two decades younger.
Okay, I'm not sure all these tropes really support each other, but I'm still on board...
Given a second chance at life, she quits her QA job, though she's still barred from the public servers. She'll need a new ID, so she accepts an offer from her incredibly shady friend Lucas (which she turned down the first time around, possibly because she had a functioning brain?) to get her an ID from a player who recently died, named Charlie. She also signs up to test a prototype next-gen (pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-previous-gen, from her regressor perspective) immersion pod.
The character associated with her new ID is a girl! Oh no! Anyway... She accepts Charlie's name with no thought whatsover (uh...). She and Lucas put her bug-exploiting skills to work in the game all day, until the need for sleep puts an end to their adventuring. Lucas is weirdly touchy throughout this, and can't keep his eyes off of Charlie, though Charlie barely notices this (er...) and doesn't seem to mind (uhhhhhhh...).
Then she logs out, and is a girl in real life! Oh no! Anyway... At least Lucas is there, with clothes and shoes... in her exact siz

MC has an extremely jarring transition into an annoying californian valley girl pretty early on, and doesn't improve from there. Doesn't really care about anything, just complains a bit and then seemingly cbf and just accepts it. Never sided with the villain side quicker.
Writing itself is decent, which just makes the MC's personality that much worse.
I'd give this one a miss unless you are really desperate.

Ryplinn's review has pretty much listed exactly all of the things wrong with this story. I'd like to simplify it's biggest problem, though.
This scenario is basically one massive drama that the MC refuses to acknowledge or participate in. If the main character gave a single shit about X, Y, or Z, this would become a much more interesting read.
MC doesn't care about or only very briefly cares about things like: time travel, gender change, handsy and creepy friend, being lusted after, high heels, dresses, debt slavery, having kills 'stolen', and so much more. Majority of these have an answer of some kind, but the MC isn't interested in solving them and is content to roll with every punch.
Every piece of drama boils down to the MC complaining once or twice and then accepting the situation. The only time she shows any defiance is in her fighting style that remains melee oriented.
It's like I'm reading a power fantasy that is in the setting of a drama, and it doesn't work.
