Description

I used to live a boring life. I worked in an office all day and played video games, or read books, in the evening. And then I died. But it was not the end, it was a new beginning. I was given the chance to create my next body, or use one from a game I played. My new life would be in a world of magic and adventure! The world is inspired by games like D&D. Despite the video game origins of the main character the world does not use stats or levels.

I have really enjoyed my time reading this story and it is clear that the author has improved while writing. The first time I read this, I thought it was too one dimensional and boring so I put it down. Then recently I discovered the other story that this author has started working on which was amazing! So I decided to go back and give this one another shot and boy am I happy I did. The first 15 to 20 chapters felt like Mary Sue, but then the plot and characters started expanding and the story came to life. While the MC is overpowered, that is relative to the small city she starts in. In this world, much as in DnD if you're familiar, there are many, many beings just as powerful or more so lurking behind the scenes. It quickly becomes apparent that our MC can't plow through all their problems, just a lot of them. I highly encourage people give it a shot!

I really appreciate the vibes I am getting from the story so far. Kinda reminds me of Overlord, a fantastic light novel with an internally awkward overpowered skeleton archimage as the MC. I am also looking forward to seeing more of Shani's chaotic antics. In addition I really love the incredible world you are starting to build!

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience; the protagonist captured my attention with a compelling depth and charm that left me invested in their journey. Alongside, the narrative unfolded in a captivating manner, weaving an intricate plotline that held my interest throughout. However, one minor critique I do have hinges on the somewhat brief duration of each episode, which left me yearning for more time to delve deeper into the complex world and its characters. Despite this, the concise storytelling does have its merits, making it overall a fantastic watch that's easy to recommend.

Twas a light and easy read. Not really a groundbreaking story, a bit meandering and kinda shallow as far as world building and plot are concerned. Stuff just kinda happens. That being said, I did not get tired of it half way through unlike most stories i find on this site that start great and fizzle out. I thought it started out okay, then became good, and I look forward to seeing the author continue improving in the future.
I really like the magic system and I love the way it isn't a litrpg while still doing litrpg-esque things, it's just more enjoyable without menus.
Btw. I gave it a higher rating than what I really think, for the sake of the algorithm.

Reincarnated! A Tale of the Sorceress Amaya by Aetam takes the classic isekai trope and breathes fresh life into it with a focus on magic, adventure, and a world inspired by tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons. The protagonist, once bound to the monotony of office life, finds herself reborn with a second chance—this time as a sorceress in a world of endless possibilities.
What sets this story apart is the absence of typical stats or leveling systems. While many reincarnation tales rely heavily on numbers and mechanics, Amaya focuses more on the magic, exploration, and the protagonist's journey of growth. The narrative draws heavily on the wonder of fantasy, inviting readers into a richly imagined world without bogging them down with overly technical details.
However, the pacing can feel slow at times, particularly as the story establishes its setting and Amaya’s abilities. Readers looking for fast-paced action or high stakes may find the leisurely world-building a bit too relaxed. That said, Amaya’s journey of self-discovery and her transition from ordinary to extraordinary is satisfying, particularly for readers who enjoy character-driven stories in vibrant, game-inspired worlds.
For fans of isekai and classic fantasy, Reincarnated! A Tale of the Sorceress Amaya is a gentle escape that offers magic and adventure without the clutter of levels or stats. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it provides a cozy, enjoyable read for anyone looking to step into a world of wonder.

As others have said, it's extremely tell-y rather than showing. It also info dumps, but fails to do proper set up so we end up with both too much and also not enough details.
It tells us that it's basically d&d based magic system, and it is. It reads sort of like a somewhat railroading dm with a somewhat passive character, which fits with the background premise of it being from a video game character; but that doesn't work quite as well for written works. That being said, we really don't get a good feel at all of the magic system as others noted
The explanation given is of a cheat character, rather than the author having pulled up mythic or epic tier information and feats to actually properly design the character; porting from 3.5 rulebooks into the 5e style magic would work better in my opinion.
It's been pretty good despite the problems, and I am hopeful for it.

Its a good story but to me it just seems like its not as well thought out as some others its like having just a steak for diner and thats it, the story is okay but theres not much explanation for secondary things like travel time (it says within the first few chapter something like it took a day to get somewhere and then they camped out and went into the city at dawn) id still recommend you to read it though

The story starts off with the protagonist being granted a self incarnation going from male to female. A point, since reading up onto the chapter of the story, has not been made relevant even once. So irrelevant gender bender but that's not what takes away from the story.
What takes away from it is that right at the start there is a convenient slave to be turned into a partner for the hero. There are no other slaves. None. Just that very convenient one.
After that, the magic system is just poorly scaled. First it was mentioned that 9 circle was the elite of the elite which makes the MC amazingly OP but that falls off rather quickly as you read that nations have reserve 9 circle mages, enough to make minor dispatch squads with.
The story feels like it's trying to be a magical mystery but it lacks the attention to detail required for a mystery novel. The Isekai/reincarnation also doesn't really factor too well into the story but the intent is clearly there and despite the short comings of the story, the writing itself is extremely easy and good to follow. No character dialogue interaction is too over the top or underwhelming. It feels just right with regards to how the story is narrated.
Overall, I recommend the author take the time to expand on their descriptors more and personally, whilst it doesn't affect my rating of the story, do away with the irrelevant gender bender. It adds nothing more than dead weight readers may expect to be expanded upon.

I enjoy the story overall! I read the first 10 chapters for content and then skipped through and read a chapter here and there to see how the writing style has changed over time.
My first impression is that the style is very simplistic, not uncommon for new and ESL authors. Over the course of the story, I can see a lot of effort in improving and a lot of room left to grow. The story reads as a simple and almost objective narration of events. I think that by the current chapters, there seems to be a little more in terms of immersion and letting the story show you what is happening instead of stating it plainly, but this is an area that I think needs further improvement.
I can't speak much on the middle or later chapters, but the MC makes very questionable and unjustifiable decisions. At least once per chapter I read I had to stop and wonder why the MC would possibly have made that decision. I think either I have a really hard time empathizing with them and/or the author could improve on their logical consistency and justification/reasoning for events. I am willing to accept some things as a matter of course, but there become a point where repeated asinine decisions just make the story hard to want to continue.
I am currently seeking out new stories to read, where I promise myself to read 10-20 chapters on each new story and leave a review. I am being nevessarily quite judicious on which stories make my follow list, and I don't think this story connects with me enough to continue reading. That said, I do recommend this story to others, and I highly recommend to the author to keep going! I can see the desire for growth and the progress made and I know that each story will be better than the last. Thank you for writing!

While I don't particularly care for the way the author introduced the book, I did find the premise interesting enough to keep me going. However, I found some glaring problems with the book.
The author took time to introduce the magic system. I didn't particularly care for the way it was introduced. The chapter may have been an optional read, but I would have preferred it if the reader was left to organically find out about the system as they read the book. The info dump in Chapter 2 was not really necessary in my opinion.  The chapter was jarring and took the reader out of the story immediately after being introduced to the world. Probably better to have that as a glossary maybe.
I feel like the book is directionless in general. The protagonist came into the world wanting to enjoy and explore and immediately found herself in a situation she could avoid. I found no problem with her saving the guards or the slave, but she kept involving herself in situations when she lacked information on what exactly was the issue. I feel like she lacks agency and is reactionary, which isn't a good thing for the protagonist in my opinion. She follows the flow. Not an attractive trait in a purportedly strong person.
The magic system is not my favorite, but that's just a matter of taste. My problem is the way the author trivializes high-tier magic. One reason for thinking that way is that even though we theoretically know how powerful 9th-tier magic is, we mostly lack a comparison because we rarely see spells of lesser tiers. We don't know how difficult it is to reach that tier because the characters we are reading about already have the capabilities of performing that magic. So there isn't really that gravitas associated with peak-tier magic.
That brings me to my next pain point, progression. The author set up the protagonist to be OP right from the get-go. I don't mind that. What I do mind is the utter lack of progression in any way. The protagonist knows all the spells she need to k
