Description
Volume 1: Our protagonist finds himself reincarnated as an imp in a world with magic! Armed with his wits and understanding of the modern world, but with no recollection of who he was or even the name of where he came from, he attempts to survive and understand just how this new world works. Volume 2: After evolving into a lesser earth demon, our protagonist finds themselves with new allies and new challenges after leaving the safety of their cave (temporarily) for the greater world! With new things to explore and bigger projects to work on, the world doesn't seem quite as small as it used to. Volume 3: Having been banished from the goblin village, Zack returns back to his cave home. This retreat can't last forever, and events quickly force a wider perspective of the world upon Zack. Just where are the Goblins and Zack located, what new challenges and enemies will Zack face, and most importantly, what new discoveries and creations will Zack make along the way to overcome these challenges? Volume 4: As Zack and his compatriots begin developing their fledgling island nation, new challenges arise both domestic and foreign. As always, rapid change leads to cultural instability, and weakness is exploited by foreign powers. Can Zack successfully navigate these new political challenges to maintain relative independence, or will the new nation be forced to submit itself in order to survive?Volume 5: After surviving a war, Zack and the nation of Kembora focus on rebuilding and recovering. The hustle and bustle of the city slowly increase as more advances and expansion occur, but trouble is brewing in a far away land. Have Zack's research ambitions gone too far this time?Volume 6: After being forced into isolation by both nature and previous allies, the country of Kembora is forced to re-evaluate its priorities as it deals with new problems. Will Zack's technological advancements cause even more problems, or will their benefits outweigh their costs? Will the rest of the world be able to handle what the future holds? - NofatherfigureRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is my first review, but I have to say, I love this so far! The chapters are somewhat short, but it really is worth the wait between chapters. The characters actually feel like they're lifelike, and not dead or boring, and the story is fun to read overall, 5/5. Keep in mind, I never reviewed anything before tho, so you should just check it out yourself!
- Nova JRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am the latest chapter and despite not being high stakes or adventure heavy for now it is a beautifully crafted book the will suck you in so make sure to give it a read. From the way the character makes choices to his interaction with other characters with the gradual wxpansion of the world and occasional experimenting I recommend this book 10/10.
- LudomentisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is solid. The science in this story is solid. The plot is solid and moves as slowly as the solid earth. I love this story for the its meticulous detail in world building. My inner nerd is unleashed when soaking in all the tech and chemistry details. Borderline autistic stuff. Viewer discretion is advised
- Meatball_ManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Absolutely love this story. I'm very much a fan of stories with Kingdom-Building, particularly through technological advancement. It may take a bit to progress from "cave survival" to "Civilization Building", but it gets there and it gets good.
This story sets itself apart from the others because the author genuinely understands the scientific principles behind the devolopement of technology, not just the basics of the technology himself. This understanding proves itself invaluable in convincing you that it's actually feasible for the protagonist to do what he does. Not just anyone could recreate electricity if they went back in time but I can believe this guy could fogure it out.
Even with how knowledgeable he is, progress takes trial, error, and time. He experiments, he tries, he fails, and it takes days, weeks, or months to get things right sometimes. The journal-entry writing style enables the author to simply summarize the results of otherwise significant periods of time, which allows for a lot of progress to be made without slowing down the story.
I also appreciate that things don't just fall into the protagonist's lap. He suffers setbacks. Unexpected developments, lack of respurces, internal and external conflicts. He's not some OP MC who can do whatever he wants because nobody can stand up to his power or technology, he has to accept compromises and sacrifices. There is actual tension when problems arise, rather than just one-sided slaughters.
Something that some may not like, but I find refreshing, is the protagonist's character. At his core he is pretty much devoted to technological development and only deals with other aspects of the civilization because he has to lol. There isn't a whole lot of dialogue or character depth, but I'd say that's a matter of style/taste rather than a flaw. - KanecaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is good at what it does and really gets detailed with the sciences involved which I appreciate a lot. One area it may lack is really showing the impact of this progress on others. Not just on civilisationj as a whole but on individuals and people's. Overall a great story.
- Machine HellRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0i love it both the science part were magic gets explained and tecnology gets fused whit magic , the evolution and system prestige that let s you get traits depending on what you do , the spells being something ingrained in dna and the city building and cultural growht.
I also like the pace at wich the author updates to make possible to read this good book only thing would be the lack of stats but that is something that is yeet to see what is gonna happen in the future ,
Pd i hope there ends up being a sequel

Character: The mc is not a murder hobo nor a ruthless idiot and instead is a calm and collected little imp who while will kill but only out of necessity. The biggest failing of this character in my opinion is a lack of emotion as he does not really express any much happiness or sadness and instead acts in a very robotic manner
Grammer: Outside of the odd grammatical error or strange wording choice there is little to fault.
Style: This novel for the most part has really good pacing. I for one am a large fan of its more relaxed progression and lack of action (as opposed to another reviewer). This is also made up in large part by the consistent and daily update schedule.
Story: This is the place where I feel this novel suffers the most. The world around are imp is described in very little detail. We never hear of the smells or sounds around our imp or the locations of things relative to others. I am still confused by the whole Goblin Imp dynamic. Do the Goblins summon imps? Do they naturally spawn? It is all a bit confusing. - Cloud WalkerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An incredible story with a great flow, and an MC that makes mistakes but learns from them (at least most of them)
A research-driven MC who finds the limits of the world and is very organized with the goals he sets
And did I tell you he also has his own minion like a mini him? Cause he does!
My only gripe would be the MC not getting those easy xp but it's fine I like the MC’s main focus on research which doesn't really increase give power ups. - BartMeisterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In the realm where the extraordinary meets the methodical, "Rebuilding Science in a Magical World" stands as a testament to the boundless frontiers of imagination. Within this intricate tapestry, our protagonist, an embodiment of stoic logic, navigates a world defined by magic, weaving a tale of transformation that unfolds with captivating consistency.
The narrative's unhurried pace grants each revelation and exploration the space to breathe, a deliberate reflection of the protagonist's methodical nature. This unhurried tempo aligns seamlessly with the narrative's style, enhancing the immersive experience for readers. The grammar, acting as a steadfast companion throughout, adds to the overall polish of the story. However, a touch of deeper emotional resonance could elevate reader engagement and connection to a profound level.
The interplay between the enchanting realm of magic and the structured world of science propels the narrative forward. Rooted in the protagonist's unwavering quest, the fusion of these two worlds infuses the entire genre with a fresh vitality. This journey is supported by the consistent story development, matched by a release schedule that brings a dependable rhythm to readers' engagement.
The story's consistency doesn't solely rest in its narrative arc. The diligent release schedule further solidifies the reader's investment, creating an environment where anticipation and gratification coexist harmoniously.
In a realm where wonder reigns supreme, "Rebuilding Science in a Magical World" charts its own remarkable course. Adept character development, a captivating narrative style, and the fusion of rationality and fantasy beckon readers on an intellectual journey that offers both contemplation and enjoyment. Within this world, consistency is the cornerstone upon which an enchanting experience is built.
I am friends with the author, and get to read chapters as they are written before they get published. - PastelPeachesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I literally love this story and I've re-read it like 5 times now. Having said that, I do feel like it's one of those that you'll either love or hate, depending on what you like. The writing style has been described as journal entry like, which I feel like is the closest description but not 100% accurate. The style means the author cuts out a lot of fluff, but also describes the characters thought processes and actions thoroughly.
Personally I would say the writing style is very similar to watching an anime or Manga recap on YouTube, there isn't much fluff, no flowery language or drawn-out scene descriptions going on for five paragraphs.
I adore the style as it skips or brushes past (almost) all of the boring parts and most of the story is the best part that interests me the most.
But that's very subjective, I love reading about the nitty gritty details of survival/kingdom building stuff, but not everyone would be interested in reading details about butchering meat or expirementing with preserving food or testing for poison in a new food source.
And I also don't care very much for multi-chapter length battles or fights. The few fight scenes there are in the beginning are pretty short and sweet, with the more impactful/important things getting some more attention and description.
I'll also say that much later in the book, around volume 3 or 4, there are a lot of very detailed and descriptive engineering things and explanations that completely fly over my head and they were a bit of a chore to read through as it was a lot of technical mumbo jumbo that made no sense to me. I'd say there were only a dozen chapters in the whole book that I ended up skimming partway through.
I think those sections could be written in a more interesting way, but also the writing style of the author doesn't mesh well with very complicated ideas that you wouldn't even knew exited if you weren't an engineer. I think half of it could be cut or dumbed down for better average reader enjoyment, b
