Description
Ripped from a dead-end life and plunged into a world where danger lurks behind every smile, Xiulan must learn to thrive in a realm ruled by ruthless ambition and deadly secrets.
When Li Mei dies in a traffic accident after another soul-crushing retail shift, she awakens in a familiar yet dangerous world—inside her favorite game,Phoenix Kingdom Chronicles. Now inhabiting the body of Lin Xiulan, the scorned second daughter of a noble family, she finds herself thrust into a nest of vipers where her very existence is an offense to those around her.
Armed only with her knowledge of the game and the wounds from a lifetime of dealing with entitled customers, Xiulan refuses to play the role of the family’s punching bag. Determined to rise above, she’ll need to master immortal alchemy, tame arcane spirit beasts, perfect her martial arts, and face off against her scheming sisters and stepmother.
But in Arinthia, a land where power reigns supreme and the weak are swept aside, Xiulan must do more than just survive and fade into the background.
With the knowledge of a devastating future that awaits the realm’s beloved Crown Princess, she’ll need every ounce of her modern wit and growing abilities to prevent a catastrophe that would ruin the entire realm—assuming she can survive her own family long enough to do anything about it.
Only by transforming herself into a force of reckoning can Xiulan hope to protect those she comes to care about—and survive the darkness that awaits.

- WintrowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A faced paced xianxia story. I like the detailed alchemy and cultivation as may authors just skip that with "and then he made a pill" and such. I'm note sure where the story is going yet. I'm up to chapter 50 and the story has settled into introducing our dao companions and doing missions.
I like it a lot and I think it holds up compared to books like Elder Cultivator and Azarinth Healer.
So definetly a reccommendation from me! Also my first review! - MayaSouthRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is always nice to read xianxia stories. I like the characters and their not distant heroic figures their described as people with their own wants, desires and failings nothing wrong with being super overpowered but it's nice to be along for a characters developmental journey.
I've binged so far and will go up to the most recent release as soon as possible and that there in lies my dilemma, do race to end or savour the journey like fine wine?
All in all enjoying the story immensely😊 - MisterTubsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Xianxia genre is overly saturated with bad writing where it concerns characters and world building. So far I'm impressed with this author's take on the genre.
The characters act, talk, and behave like actual people. Often xianxia stories are so full of the most delusionally corrupt people that it becomes cartoonish and unbelievable. I was initially worried that this story would follow that same over exaggerated theme, but I'm pleasantly surprised. There are some incredibly sinister people and actions, but it isn't so all encompassing as to dispell my disbelief.
I enjoy how each character seems to be following an understandable motivation that doesn't seem contrived or idealised. Even the antagonists' motivations make some kind of sense and aren't just evil for evil's sake.
On another note, the world's setting is based in a video game that the MC played in her previous life. This is usually done to explain away the protagonist's special advanced knowledge, but the author seems to have put a lot of thought in how that game actually functioned mechanically and story wise. The game reminds me some what of Kenshi but with more RPG elements. It makes me excited to know more about how the story plays out with the MC's foreknowledge.
The story is still in the early stages, so there is plenty of time for everything to be fleshed out, and so far I like what I'm reading. - SeangreysonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Wind cultivator is a fun play on the usual genre tropes. It does get a bit grim for a bit early on, but overall is a fun adventure story. Having made it to the latest volume i'm now looking forward to seeing the story develop. So far the protagonist is more a solve things cleverly than raw strength, and the game backstory stuff enhances the plot.
- WhitebloodRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As in title, it is very well crafted. Especially the fight scenes, they flow very smoothly. Also I like how the growth of the MC in terms of power and character is very organic and fells natural. However the only point which could perhaps be 'negative' (if someone didn't read far enough) would be that her game knowledge seems to translate almost perfectly into real world (breaks imersion I know). This can perhaps suggest that alchemy should be dead easy and chefs should be grandmaster alchemist, but I would encourage you read a bit more since this is cleared up later
She is only really good at one pill since the recipe is the main thing, not the concoction.
.
And for the author if he is reading this, maybe she can be a bit strategic, or even her enemy? This is mainly because I reread RI and anyone who read it knows this feeling. Not a negative but a personal opinion.
TLDR: stop looking more and read it already. - MechalichRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Rebirth as a Wind Cultivator is the story of an obsessive video gamer who is reborn into the world of her favorite cultivation-based video game that embraces that premise in full, for better and worse.
Mostly, this is for the better. This is a swift, breezy romp of a story in which the protagonist rapidly embraces her changed circumstances and prior life and then sets about preparing for the oncoming catastrophe in a manner appropriate to both video game and xianxia tropes: by gaining as much power as possible. Of course, complications ensue, many of them involving spectacularly short-sighted betrayals and alliances that don't really make sense, but, again, this world functions according to video game logic so that's how things should be, I think?
Style wise this story works very well. It is, admittedly, extremely trope heavy. Young masters, alchemy formulas, technique exploits, evil family feuds, pointless rivalries, an academy arc, overly cute spirit beast pets, the works. However, it's readable, breezy, swift, and generally doesn't belabor any of the sub-systems too much. The only issue with this is that the writing style, with limited descriptions of characters and especially positioning, doesn't translate well to the large, highly complex multi-party combats that keep occurring, which makes the battles feel less compelling than they are clearly intended to be.
Regarding grammar, I have no complaints. The author is well-established and clearly brings professional polish to this work. The language is not especially complex or evocative, but that's in line with the lane this work is following.
Story is generally good, but like the style, it is quite generic. There's everything that would be expected and mostly following fairly standard paths to present all of that, with various discrete arcs that are tied to the MCs increase in power level. Even the one major twist isn't really that unexpected or impactful. Originality is not a major feature of this tale, at least - TradeGyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like the story, the characters and the setting is intriguing so far.
Somewhat classic 'rise to power' xianxia, scorned child with the help of 'cheat', in this instance the memories of a modern person who've played a game set in this xianxia universe.
Characters are not flat even if some of them are 1 dimensional but thats not entirely unrealistic and I don't feel the stupidity is exaggerated. The MC is not perfect and while she handles her situation well she still makes mistakes.
The world is still largely a mystery but what little is known about the game's story points to a larger storyline that seems interesting so I look forward to it.
Also the moral of the story seems to be: don't get an Art History degree lol - NoralationsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A very fun romp. There's just enough darkness to give the story stakes, but not too much as to make the story dark. The character interactions are super fun and they all have memorable personalities. The cultivation elements so far have mainly been plot devices to drive the story along but I suspect they'll be more fleshed out in the future. Overall a fun xianxia read!
- TallestPancakeRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I like what this story could be. The grammar is fine and the author does a solid job with painting a picture with words. But the pacing throws my enjoyment off. On the one hand, things seem stuck in escalation mode, the character is reacting to things all the time, new villainous plots, incompetence, corruption and family drama etc. but there's no time to breathe, to let consequences linger, for the character to learn and grow and use her head/be patient, it's more like the author has the MC sprinting towards where they need her to go.
I titled my review 'Contradiction' because for all that the events of plot feel relentless and unfold rapidly, the journey for the readers feels slow. What I mean is the reader feels exhausted with the pace of things as they race forward at an eye rolling level; it'd be fine if we actually had time to explore the events, sit with the MC as she uncovers year long conspiracies and forms well thought out solutions, gathers allies as necessary, and works to overturn Injustice, but because she's constantly bulling forward even when she acknowledges that its idiocy, we as the audience are left thinking 'can we just get this part over with and have her become a cultivator already?'... which is a shame because if we had more time for the character to adjust to her situation, explore the machinations that led to her starting circumstances in the Lin Household, and get to know the world a bit more then I think most readers but me especially, would be fine with a slower pacing. As things stands I wanted to skip mutiple paragraphs of what felt like boring details that wouldn't matter anyway when the MC would just go off half cocked next chapter.
Oh, and the cabbage-villains. Each feel like xianxia cardboard cut outs whose treachery make no sense for the world and setting. Really, so a servant would taunt the Lord's daughter, and in broad daylight use the Family Guards to forcefully seize her and imprison her? And keep her from testifying before h - Hello_Hi_GoodbyeRoyal Road★★ 2.0I was hoping for something new with such something having such a high amount of positive review, but the first two chapters and the story already has more cliches then I have the fingers in my hands to count it. If you like typical cultivation thingies, then you may like this one too, but I'm already past that point in my webnovel reading journey so not my cup of tea here.
