Description

When Dani woke up in a fantasy world, she expected magic, danger, and adventure. She did not expect to end up back in school.

Primevus Academy is dedicated to training delvers, the only people standing between Elida's citizens and the danger of the endlessly spawning dungeons. Its students include pious clerics, stoic warriors, learned mages, clever rogues - and Dani.

Hit by a bus while busy gawking at a girl on her first day of college classes, Dani woke up in the world of Elida, and soon found she wasn't alone. Dani and Fallon are the only two humans in all of Elida, and both quickly find themselves enrolled at the prestigious Primevus Academy. But while Fallon soon proves herself graceful, clever, dedicated, beautiful, and everything else the Academy could've hoped for, Dani... sort of doesn't.

Dani needs to grow, not just as a rogue and delver, but as a person. In a world where anything less than complete dedication can get her killed, there's no easy road to success for a rebellious underachiever.

Primevus: Adventurer Academia is a portal fantasy LitRPG novel in a dungeon crawling, magic academy setting, featuring magic inspired by classic RPG job systems.

Primevus is currently on hiatus as I work on a rehaul of the first book, to be released June2026!

This is not the kind of story I would usually read but I greatly enjoy reading Wanderborn and wanted to read the authors other work.
This story continues with the quality I have come to expect from Wanderborn with relatable, realistic characters, relationships to be formed and challenges to overcome. The consistent LGBT representation is a huge bonus as well.
This is a college coming of age story using Isekai dungeon delving to add some flair and an extra helping of feeling like a fish out of water.
The author makes good use of the MMO like progression system to give an idea of what characters can do, grounding the power of the world while making it feel like an actual extension of the world.
If you are looking for a story about self discovery, personal growth, and finding friendship while adjusting to a new world and the magic that comes with it this is the one for you.
If you are looking for a story about a powerful adventurer delving deep into unexplored dungeons to seek out the mysteries of magic, conquer foes, and save the world you should look elsewhere.
Obviously I can't say where the story will go and I hope we'll get to see more of the dungeons when the time is right but for now I am happy to watch Dani grow and find her place in a brand new world that we get to explore alongside her.

Dani and Fallon have barely scratched the surface of Elida (literally) yet they have discovered more than any scholar would in a lifetime, including:
    - Characters who are realistic and relatable - you can see yourself in every facet of them (pun intended). Diametrically opposed to each other; Dani’s easygoing nature inherently clashes with Fallon's feverish desire to learn - qualities that are necessary in some situations and harmful in others.
-Mechanics that harken back to RPG classics. Cleric, Mage, Warrior, Rogue. Which path did you choose? Would you pick the same one, knowing what you know now?
    - System windows that are informative without breaking the flow of the story. Stats that are crunchy without being overly complicated.
    - Monsters that are the product of their lived environment. A cave full of shadowy slitherers, crystals that grow from creatures. Aesthetically brilliant and somehow scientifically sensible.
    - Implications to the wider world of Elida that we haven't yet seen - a party hesitant towards a Cleric. People that spawn at the bottom of caves. Strangers that insist on Dani enrolling before they assist with the whole dying of dehydration thing.
As giddy as a child on the first day of school, I can't wait to attend Primevus.

The story's off to a solid start.  It reads like more of a book than a web serial. The fantasy mmoesc world building is fun to read through and honestly pretty refreshing in the execution.
Two people being isekai'd gives a lot more life to the beginning of the story. It seems like we're getting to know the characters more earlier on from their interactions with one another which I appreciate.
The story isn't far in yet but it reads like a drink of fresh water.

Really enjoying this so far.  Good world building, actual character writing, and decent intrigue.  I generally consider a system a downside and a crutch in a book, and I still do, but this one manages to be good in spite of that.  I highly recommend the you go ahead and check it out!

So far very good! More Iskia should have magic not water slides. Sure it's not a cheat skill but magic not water slide.
Like the two characters. Starting alone in a woods or whatever is inferior to having people (or person) to interact with. The story loop of suffer->train->grow can get boring fast. Suffer->chatter->banter is a much more interesting loop.

Drama abound in this story. The main character, Dani, has a lot of things working against her as she tries to find her place in this new world and people love to make it worse for her. Religious prejudice, abandonment, the rich popular kids getting tired of her, the class bully targeting her, this story has it all.
And of course, as with any school full of drama the topic of romance pops up. The main character is very interested in other girls and can be quite weak to their charms, adorably. Dani definitely has her work cut out for her if she wants to get anywhere with anyone though. (Personally I'm rooting for Gwen)
The story is very gay, very interesting. I really like the setting and the world building too. Would definitely recommend.

First chapter has a bad hook for the story, and can easily be trimmed down to 4 paragraphs.
Next is the writing, specifically how Nat approaches narration. Sometimes information can be overly wordy or have additional references and allusions that seems to prolong certain descriptions, thereby undermining the scenes. Perhaps i just grew out of these types of narration, and I can leave it at that, but my next big issue is undermining action scenes with jokes and random silly references that destroys the momentum.
I hope I am not taken too negatively, these issues are too specific for me to keep going. I wish I can stick around longer to see their partnership snd the magic system.
