Power Overwhelming [Progression Infant Reincarnation]

Description
I was happy. Past tense. Tragic, really. Don’t worry. I’m over it. It’s okay to be sad. No, really. I’m not coping, why do you ask? I’ve found a new family, and—I can’t quite stress this enough—I found magic. It’s like a muscle I can flex andbam!instant fireball. Except, unlike muscles, magic takes up no volume. Which means it isn't slave to the square cube law. So, unless I’m completely off base there is no limit to how powerful I can become. There are also scary monsters in this world, so I suppose it’d be nice to get stronger. But really? I’m quite invested in finding out just how far I can push it.

I have only read the first arc, but dang if It didn't hook me. There is so much thought in all aspects of the story. The end felt a bit weird, but if you look at it through the lense of the MC rather than through the tropes the author was playing with it makes way more sense. Anyway the point is it's a really good story and you should read it.
- CabbykittenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Silas is the kind of main character who is strong, competent, and capable. The author tells his story with incredible clarity and i absolutely cried on multiple occasions. Definitely give this one a read, it is FANTASTIC
I need to add more words for the 200 minimum so, I have been imagining Silas’s species as scaly mewtwo people mixed with the blue avatar people. They are fascinatingly alien and so are the driders and the other species that i can’t remember the name of. The author does really well at introducing totally alien beings and making them relatable and interesting. It would definitely suck to have to learn to walk again with backwards knees; luckily Silas is a baby and its not weird that he has to learn that lol
I really enjoy the little snippets of philosophy sprinkled throughout this book. The discussion about what power is and what that means was really interesting to think about. The magic system of this world is very cool; i like that magic is like a muscle that needs to be trained, and the MC’s advantage is just that he got such an early start at it.
Yeah, basically it is all great and you should read it. Right now. Maybe you should have started yesterday, but right now is the next best thing. - GoodbyefreetimeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0But everything else gives it substance. The world it’s in is unique enough, but consistent world building makes it feel a bit more real. It’s a fairly classic setup, but not in a bad way. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. The quality of the writing makes this a joy to read. This is still in its early days and I look forward to seeing how it progresses.
- IsekaitisRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Interesting... That was my first thought after reading the first couple chapters of this.
I really like stories where I can place myself in the position of the main character, and experience the fantastical elements of the world, the magic, the systems, what have you...
But the main character, and the other characters, are not human, so that seemed difficult initially. But really, reading the first couple chapters completely convinced me. This is a story of obtaining power, of learning the systems of the world, and of influencing that world to get what you want, while figuring out what you want; there's magic, there's family, there's friends, there's lore; this is a good story.
More technically, the story is deep and interesting. The characters seem real, also deep. The grammar is perfect, or at least good enough for me to find no faults ;)
The style is awesome! As explained I really like this type of story, and the style follows the tropes I've mentioned.
And apparently a review must be at least 200 words long, so here we go:
My first fear as mentioned was: "these won't be humans, I won't be able to truly relate to them", but as you read the first couple of chapters, it is shown that really, these are humans, just with a different view (namely the ability to see magical energy, oh and they express their feelings using their "aura" instead of their face, that's still weird, and well the differences in biology, but you grow used to those).
My second fear was: "the main character will be overpowered for no reason". Now this is not entirely circumvented, but we do get to see him become strong, not just leap from nothing to OP. Whenever he pulls out a new trick, we see not only the audience be awed, but also his thought behind it. So the OP elements are handled well.
My third fear was: "the magic system will be shown initially, and then completely ignored for surface level explanations later". Now this is, as with the overpowered elements, done well. We don't dive deep - Randy1001Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I very much loved the story from the get-go!
It packs really enjoyable and thought-provoking character development, introspection, and emotion. Plus, it's very much MC-focused with some perspective shifts, which are very well done and don't feel drawn out or hinder overall.
Very easily readable in my opinion, I didn't get caught on any grammar hiccups.
Lastly, the chapters are decently long, carrying a more slow-burning pace. Which I absolutely enjoyed, and makes for a very satisfying ride, I think!. - ShindoAoiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is crazy good ! I HIGHLY RECOMMAND !
The story does have tropes but they are very well integrated into the story and they don't fall into the classic pitfall that you would expect. The main character (Silas) finds creative solution to dynamic social interations/problem that i did not expect and found its solution deeply delightful.
The character feels real. Their reactions and feelings are very raw. A young couple with a baby in panic from the its unusual reactions feels relatable. A talented child how only puts her full dedication to something if its interesting.
The main character is hard working and very dedicated to magic. Is is not talented but he remaims very consistant and his efforts are rewarded. It does makes you wonder, how strong can you get ? How far can you truly go ? What limits are there to magic ? I don't know. But i am dying to find out !
Having no humans at all is an interesting choice that i am curious to see how it will develop. But there seems to be dragons ?
Overall ? This is a MUST read for anyone who likes reincarnation story. And even if you don't, give it a try ! - StarTasterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story had me hooked from the first chapter, I really enjoy how this author writes. The world being built and the characters that live in it have me thinking about the story long after I've finished a chapter. I love how the perspectives of different characters are used to show more of the world and ongoing situations than what can be seen from the mcs limited understanding. The chapters are long and satisfying, and always leave me wondering about what might happen next. The most recent turn of events at the end of chapter 5 has me particularly excited, as I was not expecting this outcome and I can't wait to see what comes of this.
I simply can't stop thinking about this story. - bunny19Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love love love the magic system, pls give more details o-o
oh and also the world building is pretty great too, and the characters are rather in depth
the twins are so cute and i his sister is adorable, i think he should be nicer to her mhm
PS. loved the ants, hope there are more unique minds in the future! - AristanaeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Both very cute and interesting. The magic being explored by Silas (reincarnated infant) is deep and nuanced. That applies to the world building as well with diffrent not super commonly seen races and the dynamics of society in them. The way the autor managed to portray the fact that the protagonist obviously feels weird and different to the inhabitants while having it be a condition that occurs, so it is not completely weird works very well.
- s44Royal Road★★ 1.5It's rather buried for most of what's currently up while MC basically has no agency, but he comes off as unlikable and unsympathetic as soon as he starts acting on his own. I suppose it's to the author's credit that you can see how his Earth version was an insufferable jackass as well before his heroic death, but it's still a deal-breaker for the story.
