- WarCranberryRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I know this series has been finished for quite sometime now, but I just couldn't not write a quick review. Personally this had everything I was looking for its a bit of a throw back to genres I've slowly drifted away from but was wonderfully refreshing for that very reason; it brought back all my memories of the Percy Jackson series in the best way possible with a more mature cast and a wonderful combination of God Lore/Hijinx.
The characters are just perfect and I mean it was just delight to read from beginning to end. I don't know how to put it any more succinctly, so if you've got an evening free give it a shot you'll love it. - RoyalEclipseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a book amongst webnovels, an utterly unusual concept here on royal road. Its great throughout, the pacing is perfect, the grammar impeccable, the overarching mystery plot is great if a bit simple, the characters are believable and logical and its just such a pleasure to read. I would absolutely buy it if I found it in a book store.
- TechmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoyable story that has me hooked. Has the feel of Percy Jackson for grown ups. Lots of mythology references, including some less well known characters. Interesting story, realistic characterization, well written, with nice long chapters.
Give it a read and follow. I did! - Pethrai DarkosRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Make no mistake, this is a Young Adult novel with all the teen romance that implies. Unlike most of the genre it starts with the protagonist already aware of the supernatural world rather than being thrust into it unexpectedly. With engaging characters, well written worldbuilding, and a unique take on greco-roman mythology the only things holding it back are the plot twists so obvious it's hard to believe the protagonist took so long to figure them out.
- blueaureRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Pretty great concept that scratches the itch for more Greek god content. The main character is reminiscent of a more adult and female Percy Jackson. I thought that the pacing was a little inconsistent, but the story was enjoyable throughout. I was happy that it had a conclusion that wrapped up all the major plot threads.
- DodikdovRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Not my cup of tea. I like more novels with orginality. But this story has very few grammar mistakes, is funny, interesting, and includes good ties with greek and roman culture. Keep going author! Looks amazing already.
- dinnertimeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have read upto chapter 19 and maybe it gets better. It has one POV which is fine, but everything reads like the main character is talking/thinking to herself and "talk not show" writing style was too much. Interesting using the Gods and after life themes from classical western gods, etc.
Basically I found this boring. It would be good if the main POV had challenges and failures but seems to be very OP and capable even though at least in the first 19 chapters she is supposed to new to the role and uncertain. There is a brief new to the role section which I thought would be ideal to show the character failing a bit and learning but it skips a number of years ahead where she is now 100% competent, knows everyone has it all sorted.
It would have been good of if it had been more organic with the the world growing and meeting people and situations as part of the story. No idea why the 5 year skip other then author wanted to jump straight into a mystery, but I dont think there is any foreshadowing for the mystery, and the main character just seems to randomly know or learn something and move to the next thing. Characters pop up to interact with I assume she met in the 5 year skip.
Everything the main character does feels undeserved, no build up or foreshadowing and random. All the secondary characters feel like cardboard with no depth. - MecanimusRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Talia, a demigod and daughter of Athena, is offered an unexpected job. We follow her as she works through Minotaurs and paperwork to make the world safer.
This is a story with perfect grammar and an immersive world building. The characters are fun and they have their own personality. The story itself is a whodunnit for book one, it is wholesome if a bit basic. I recommend Pluto for people who want a light and relaxed read, you will not be disappointed. - StarvelingRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I don't normally seek out supernatural mysteries or urban fantasies but I'm still enjoying this story. If you do like those kinds of stories then you'll likely enjoy this quite a bit. Even with it not being something I normally tend to read I do think this is well written and I'll probably keep reading.
I think this story is a little too plot driven, like things are only happening to the characters and they aren't actually doing things themselves. It's not a huge problem though. - AndarRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0(written as of chapter 12)
The author mixed the ideas from Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" (where the god-like Offices of Death, War, Nature etc were hold by mortals) and Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson" (demigods being trained etc) with other ideas.
Most of the story so far is basically introduction to the concepts, with the real story of a bigger mystery only beginning in chapter 10 (after a timeskip).
It seems like a nice start to a number of rarely used concepts in fiction (from the other reviews few people remember the old "incarnations" series as it was written 1983-1990 with one last late book 2007), with more emphasis on the adult "incarnations" and less on the teenager-focused books of Riordan.
Looking forward to see how it develops.
