I read this one first when the first wave of Monster Girl evolutions came out. I loved this one so much I rushed to read the others too.
But out of all of them this is without a doubt my favourite.
I've always been a sucker for a good Cultivation novel, and I am really loving reading one from the point of view of a spirit beast.
I love the MC, but her mother is a brilliant star in her own right. The prose is Solid, the characters well thought and fleshed out and the fight scenes are amazingly good, descriptive and vivid without being a slog
More than anything though this novel reads like a Labour of love, and I cannot recommend giving this a go strongly enough.
Trust me, you won't regret it.

The story is a mix of serious and silly.
Our MC is a little Phoenix Chick that just can't keep from finding trouble.
Also the MC is about as far from a reliable narrator as you can get with zero self reflection. Even when her mother more or less points out her flaws to her.
Looking forward to our Pheonix Girl promising more generations of ruin after she greedily gets herself into even larger trouble as she progresses through her Evolutions.

Fa Xiaolan is kind of like a killer clown. Not in the horror movie sense, but in the sense that shes an absolute clown wearing a rainbow wig and honking her big red nose, metaphorically, and she also kills people. Spirit beasts. Swagever.
The fact that she has memories of once being a proud and mighty cultivator and is now denigrated to lowly tasks such as eating worms and is incredibly indignant about such things is really fun to read about. Keep honking your clown nose girl. The combat is also interesting to read. The combination of gaining XP from fights as well as the possibility of growing by absorbing stronger enemies' cores makes it really satisfying to see her triumph and grow.

This story has gotten better and better as I've read it. At the start I didn't really like the main character but as she's accepted her situation she's changed a lot, whenever she interacts with her mother now it makes me feel so bad for her past, even thought she doesn't remember her past well, it's obvious she had a hard life and it feels like she's finally able to relax a little and rely on someone. I hope for nothing but the best for mc.

During the story Fa Xiaolan struggles with using the system and prefers to use her cultivation to become stronger. However as the story progresses she starts to use the system more, to the point where it finally fully integrates with her. The system Fa Xiaolan gets isn't like any I've personally seen but others have recognized it, either way I think it a very interesting system since it rewards the mc for tying up lose ends.
As a reincarnated being Fa Xiaolan spawns in as an egg with an actual parent, unlike some riencarnation stories. Similarly Fa Xiaolan actually has a relationship with her mother, instead of leaving on an adventure as soon as she is able. Although the mc does go on solo adventures, she always returns to her mother. Even though they are only related in this life Fa Xiaolan loves her like an actual daughter loves her mother.
Finally I really like the story because it feels like what would really happen is someone was reincarnated as a child. Fa Xiaolan spends most of her time fighting beasts near the nest and comes back to safety when she's done. Similarly as Fa Xiaolan tries to grow more independent she makes mistakes and has to ask her mother for help. Even realizing that there are some things only her mother can handle until she is older, much like a growing child would.
Also conky birb is amazing and I hope it is permanent!

This is a good story.I like how you have combined xianxia tropes with monster evolution and myth as told by a very obviously unreliable narrator. Please keep writing and don't be discouraged by any haters, you can't please everyone. Thanks for the consistent grammar, balanced plot progression with a  bit of character development, with the main character  almost obnoxiously, parody style arrogant and gradually learning to rely on her mother and slowly learn that arrogance is dangerous without the skill and power to back it up.

Let me start by saying I am thoroughly enjoying this story and look forward to seeing where it goes. That said, I could not stand the MC in the first 2 chapters. A reincarnated old monster type with memory issues that acts like a major young master type... I am glad to say she starts growing out of it from chapter 3 onwards, getting progressively better as time passes. It never 100% disappears, it's part of who she is, but it doesn't make me want to punch her in the face. The author does a good job of showing how interacting with her mother is helping her grow as an individual.
Moving on though. The story is very much following xianxa/LitRPG formats. I do like how the author has really leaned into exploring the beast society, instead of making it a rush to human form as some monster evolution stories tend to do. That will still happen eventually, but they're exploring other aspects. They also don't lock it into a strictly serious or silly story. It has the beginnings of a story that has a range of content.
For the most part the focus has been around the MC and her gradual changes and development, with some extra sprinkled in to flesh out characters like her mother. I hope they expand on this and it seems like that is the plan eventually, just not all at once as an info dump.
The author has also been extremely receptive to feedback and makes efforts to fix any issues or inconsistencies that come up in their writing. The older chapters don't get ignored just to write new content. Overall a positive reading experience  and I look forward to more.

As the title implies, its a story that has some growing pains but is likely worth keeping around to see live up to its potential
As with many of the girl evolution wave, the phoenix's story is one of a former human being shoved into the frame of a monster of some variety, in this case a phoenix.
Thats supposed to be the backdrop of a story of growth and acceptance to become somwthing more than what you were.
in the first few chapters, you do not feel this. at all. it is more of the soul of a cultivator struggling against what has happened and the phoenix part of the story does not take any effect beyond background fluff and the motivation for the start, which in and of itself is a fairly standard affair, with having a safe home base but still venturing so as to accelerare growth.
this is fixed later, but is important to know going in.
As the story continues from its start however, things become significantly more varied and you see the disperate parts of the setting unite to make a better whole i can earnestly recommend to those who like both cultivation and, admittedly, a bit of sillyness.
The grammar is immaculate, the characters that are actually introduced are limited but seem alive enough, though the cultivators are glanced over and are relatively one note, though ive been reassured that will additionally change in the future.
whether or not that is truthful, i suppose time will tell
Overall, it is a story still finding its legs but with very solid bones and an author very eager to please and improve as they go along. Itll be interesting to see develop and grow as time goes on.

Great story. I was initially not expecting much considering normal for cultivation novels but it's got refreshing take on characters and I love it. I just hope that you atleast change the catch phrase a bit. The turned to ash one is confusing as after saying that she leaves corpse enough to eat. At least reduce it to ash if you say so. Dont false advertise😅😅
