Description

Listen, have you heard the tales of the Mishlin Sage? They say he appeared naked in a village by the forest and drove off a goblin raid with nothing but sheer will. And his cooking... they whisper that if you taste his food, you will be cursed with eternal hunger, never satisfied by anything else again. This is the legend of a man who died, only to wake in another world with the most absurd skill imaginable:Mishlin Sage. A power that lets him cook dishes so delicious, even fate itself might lick the plate clean. What to Expect •Very realistic cooking— recipes and kitchen logic that actually work (just with a few magical ingredients). •Harem?Technically yes— but there is no polygamy. Slowly growing, mostly accidental attention from others, but the MC stays loyal to a single love interest. Sometimes even old men fall in love with his cooking instead. • Traveling through magical lands filled withmonsters, gods, and ingredients that shouldn’t legally exist. •Dungeon management, but only for farming. Expect chickens. Lots of chickens. •Overpowered skill?Sure — but it’s culinary. Victory tastes better when it’s pan-seared. • Comedic tone withheartfeltmoments,slice-of-lifewarmth, and the occasional food-inducedexistential crisis.

I picked this story up thinking it’d be a fun romp. It’s not a fun romp. Oh, it’s fun, but in a food p*rn kind of way, but it’s not… silly. It’s got some over-the-top flowery prose, but it’s not just an author enjoying their own voice (mostly). It has plot. It has characters. It has a very OP MC who is nevertheless human and sometimes fails (spoiler!).  There is a lot of cooking. Read with snacks.

I have read 'isekai cook' before, but seldom one who started with so little. One mushroom with dubious side effects? Go, James!
    The gob-smacked villagers, the axe-smacked goblins...lovely writing :)
He is currently heading to the big city, and has found an original use for his system granted 'seed creation' skill. The world has never been so awake!

The story is fun and a little goofy, and the LITRPG parts fit in nicely. It has a lot of promise, though the pacing could slow down a bit to let things develop. The main character cracks me up almost every time he talks, spilling whatever comes to mind, which lands him in some really entertaining situations. The humor and his antics make the story addictive. If you like isekai or cooking, the semi-realistic recipes add an extra layer of fun. I’m hooked and happy to take it in little doses.

Cooking my way through the word counter!
Usually I don't review anything with less than like a hundred chapters, but well I came to really enjoy this one, so here we go.
If you like having fun, just read this story, maybe you'll even learn what 'lol' actually meant a decade ago.

It’s lighthearted and a bit silly, but the LITRPG elements are there and, so far, they seem to fit together.  It’s got potential, really good potential, but the story needs time to percolate like a good cup of coffee.  If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to slow things down just a slight bit.  Otherwise?  Keep going and I’ll just sit back and enjoy it in small sips.

I'll give a lot of good stories 4* for solid writing, well drawn characters (that I don't want to drown) and decent plotting and then not post the review because it would harm their RR rating. Many stories nail the basics and even the intermediates and this is no exception. The fifth star needs something special.
And in this case it's a crafting focused story where the writer and protagonist alike genuinely care about their craft and describe it with passion and love. Which adds flavour (pun intended) to the story and depth to the character in ways most can't match.

Grammar: This is a well written and well edited story. No major grammatical issues that I’ve noticed. Definitely none that distracted me from the plot or made me want to quit reading.Pacing: The intro was quick and amusing. The first story arc was kept tight and set up the main character. Second arc ended in an unexpected fashion, which was fun. In the third story arc now and the main character seems to be hitting his stride. I hope that the loose threads from the first and second arcs are tied off at some point.LitRPG elements: It would also be fun, in my opinion, to get slightly more frequent stat and ability updates. This is definitely a character driven story, so crunchy numbers aren’t needed to progress the plot, but I do enjoy the RPG side of these types of stories as well. I look forward to seeing what else the the main character gets in terms of skills and tools as he progresses.Characters: well described and individually fleshed out. The main character is definitely food obsessed and views the world through that lens.I look forward to seeing how this story progresses and what culinary intrigue the main character gets wrapped up in.

I so far am loving this food anime style isakai story. I have never thought of food as being poetry but here I am reading the most eloquent and descriptive reviews of food, cooking and culture ever in this hyperbolic metaphoric way that captures the essence of the subject so damn well that I'm baffles"This dish is called pizza but tonight it is called peace"I think my only complaint is that time seems to flow a bit strange around events or I just miss subtle queues about how time is flowing. It's different then most cooking stories in terms of feel and flow and getting used to the flowery langue after coming off a few simply written action stories was almost jarring. But like a maestro with a cork showing up to a rave you may be confused at first but your world will be forever changed once you hear Vivaldi drop the bass.As a final word of note I would beg the author to be a touch more clear on how much time is passing in scenes for someone with a brain that works like mine it makes things more difficult to get into the flow of the story and that sucks. It's not a big deal if you don't and I'm not going to knock points for it as it's something I don't feel changes the value of the story at all it just makes it a bit easier for my ND brain to get more comfortable in the storytelling.
