At first, I was like, "Wait, what's even happening?" But then I read the description, and it all clicked. As a reader, dissecting stuff like this is kinda my jam, you know? No hard feelings, just keeping it real. Hit me up if you want me to update this review.
Overall rating: 3 out of 5. It's not like, super awful, and it's a good chill read.
Style rating: 2.5 out of 5. Third person feels kinda meh for this story. First person would've spiced things up.
Grammar rating: 2.5 out of 5. I had this weirdly fun time spotting like 10 errors per chapter. I get it, you're going with that whole laid-back thing. Especially after reading the description I respect it.
Story rating: 4 out of 5. Started off like a 3, but as I got further in, it grew on me. It started cooking, you feel me?
Character rating: 4 out of 5. Bjorn? Yeah, he's giving off those berserk vibes, man. First-person view would've been nice. Others in the mix didn't really grab me, but that spicy twist in the last chapter? Totally unexpected and kept things interesting. Those occasional curveballs? A nice touch even for a counter novel you write on the side.

Style: The writing flows very well, carrying the reader along without breaking immersion. The author has a way of nailing a phrase such that, if you are drinking anything when you get to those particular phrases, there’s a good chance it will come out your nose. The beginning is fairly serious but thereafter it’s a mostly lighthearted tone (up to where I’ve read). A little heavy on the pop culture references but it also makes sense given the MC’s personality and likes, which are established early on. There's a lot of action sequences here, and they're well blocked out and easy to follow. Easily 5 stars.
Story: I feel like the plot is still in its early stages so it’s hard to judge story-as-a-whole at this point. The story follows Rick—a nerdy astronomer diagnosed with cancer—as he lives through the end of his world and is deposited (as one of Earth’s few survivors) in Illdari. Once he realizes he isn’t in a drunken dream, he begins to get a handle on this new world’s rules with the help of a sage old wizard. It becomes clear rather quickly that he has to level up or die. Regarding information doled out to the reader and the MC, I feel like the balance of unanswered questions is leaning slightly into unjustified over justified, but only slightly. I haven’t been able to invest fully yet, but given how early it is in the story, I get the feeling that will change over time. I’ve only read a couple of LitRPG stories so I can’t analyze this on behalf of the genre, but from the perspective of a fantasy-reader this is an enjoyable tale so far. 4 stars.
Grammar: Very good. Minimal issues and what problems there are are mostly typos. It’s clear the author knows how to handle a sentence and that any mistakes will be handled in the future with a few editing sessions. 4.5 stars.
Character: I connected with Rick the most in the first three chapters, as the imminent destruction of his world forced him to face an awful lot about himself that he wasn’t fond of in a brief amount of t
