Description
In a new world, the first thing that's necessary is not people, animals, or even plants. Some might say that the first thing needed is chemicals to make simple lifeforms but they would be wrong. The first thing any new world needs is a new god or goddess to file all the appropriate paperwork to get things started! How else did you suppose all of creation functioned?

- D.M. Rhodes (Razzmatazz)Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Otherworld Goddess (currently on hiatus until the writathon is over) is a story about Kaori, who is isekaid into another world as a goddess with the hopes that she'll take better care of it than the old god of said world, due to her life experience as a seasoned managerial office pencil pusher. There's a lot that goes on and there is plenty of play between real-world religious works and in-lore mythology, which I enjoy. Please give it a fair shot, it's worth a look! =)
- PizzaPizzaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What a riveting idea!
To sum this story up in a nutshell: Take Kaori - a workaholic, hypercompetent corporate executive with a Japanese game development / gaming background, and task her with becoming the Supreme Goddess of a world that currently looks like an underdeveloped 4X game with hunter-gatherers.
Now, throw in extremely colorful, competent, and incompetent angels and demons to support her, as well as some primal gods like a 'God of the Hunt'. Then add in a 'faith and worship' GUI system where she can purchase perks and create life, and you've got a freaking story. In a sense, the MC is the hyper-competent COO or CEO you bring in to shape up and delegate a floundering pantheon full of incompetence, headless chickens.
Other World Goddess is effectively, a God Game written out with personalities you can expect from a typical historical polytheistic pantheon. The world she gets dropped in is literally a hex-grid 4X world that she has to fully flesh out and shape up, to the point that it doesn't even have a proper weather system yet. Kaori is capable of trading favors and tasks with other celestial entities with worship as a currency, and hoo boy the gods and demons of the multiverse can be quite colorful. It's up to her to set the course of this civilization on the right path, and the author has a fun time with the idea for certain.
The grammar and prose are great, and one thing that jumps out to me is how the author segways into a lot of brilliant scenes involving locals in other worlds and their relationships with their deities.
These are presented as third person shifts to worlds that are stock fantasy, as well as darker settings for brief, 2-3 paragraph scenes, where mortals either die and meet the gods they worship, or mull over their rocky relationships.
All of these individuals seem like they'll come into Kaori's cosmic plan at some point, and I can't wait to see where the author takes this story. It's a brilliant idea, and the execution so far hasn't di - Geo_DudeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Otherworld Goddess has us follow Fujiwara Kaori, a hard working, office woman who has an otaku side of her. The style of this story is fun, having us follow a god like progression story, in which Kaori is very excited to take over. She is a typical geek/otaku, having read isekai novels and played similair games. This has culminated in her unique way of tackling situations in the first few chapters.
Story is a bit fast pace, with our protagnist literally becoming a goddess within the first two chapters, but then again, that is the name of the story. I'm not a big reader of the genre but Kaori's story does have me a bit invested.
As for grammer, I try not to be critical since english is not my first language. Still, this story has some rough edges when it comes to reading. I found myself getting a little lost and stranded within the spacing and character switches. That brings me to the few problems I have. Astericks are used within dialouge (Something that I never seen before) and it throws me off sometimes. Character's thoughts are also blended into the writing without much distinction, also making it a bit confusing.
Still, that can be pushed past.
As for characters, there are a couple that I thrououghly enjoy. The God of Hunt, Yaju, is probably the one I am invested in the most. His origin and charcter is pretty interesting and I enjoyed his segments. Kaori is a bit strange. Her acceptance into the whole goddess thing was a little more rushed and excited than a normal person's, but then again, this is escapism.
All in all, I am enjoying the story. I just hope some things are fixed up a little, such as distuinguishing thoughts and inserting asterisks much mroe smoothly. Other than that, this a pretty good. I'll probably finish this up and give a much more indepth reveiw at some point. Recommend for anyone who enjoys god-like progression.
