Description

This is the old version of Failed Gift.

Synopsis: Starting over isn't always easy. The decision to lose all your hard work and be sent to the beginning again. The choice to never see those familiar faces again. Jack didn't have that choice. He didn't expect to get it after everything he had done. But he will take this chance to live the life he never got, the life that was forced from him. So what if it meant he had to be a dragon? So what if he wouldn't see his world again? Jack is going to live this life to the fullest and be who he had always wanted to be. And nobody would get in his way of achieving that.

With how many dragon stories are on this site, any story featuring a draconic main character must do something special to stand out from the crowd. Failed Gift at first glance seems like any other dragon focused story. You’ve got Isekai, Reincarnation, and a protagonist who wants to reinvent themselves. The author places a much greater focus on the characters that allows us to truly get to know them. Our lead’s detestable past allows them to reinvent and redeem themselves when confronted with a family that truly cares for them. I do also appreciate how the MC was reincarnated in a world that’s familiar to us but foreign to them. The home and its comforts are a joy to watch them discover and it’s just a cozy environment in general. While the plot hasn’t really commenced, I do appreciate the opportunities for conflict given the lead’s disabilities. My only main gripe with the story is that there are some issues with grammar. Some things are uncapitalized, most commonly I’s and there are some apostrophes are missing. It’s far from unreadable, but it’s a little distracting. Overall, Failed Gift is a wonderful character-focused story and I only hope more people discover this hidden gem.
