Description

What do you get when you cross Home Alone, Isekai, litrpg, and a farming simulator? You get Arnold’s life, that’s what you get.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe in a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, finds himself incarnated into the overweight corpse of that universes version of him. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

That standard procedure doesn't apply to Arnold.

Now stuck on a new earth with no way home, Arnold must use his gaming skills to figure out how to level his farmer class to 100 and gain a new class that doesn't make him want to beat his head against the wall. There is one little problem. Farmers don't gain experience from killing monsters. Like at all.

I got this book because I loved the title. It was well written and I was drawn into the main character's pain and then triumphs.Even after reading several other LITRPG books and a few series this one remains on top. Mainly because of how I've gotten invested in MC life.
It has a warning about sexual content, but this isn't a soft core novel. MC is a young adult and he has some adult relations. There is also talk about some kinks to tease the Main character.
I bought the second book the week it came out and I'm waiting (patiently I must say) for the third book.

The best parts about the story is that there is crafting, stat gains and combat, but all of it is hindered by a system designed to keep people in their place. Yes in this system classes are really part of a hereditary class system. Warriors can only be warriors, blacksmiths can only be blacksmiths, and farmers can only be farmers. That means the only way you can gain experience is if you do class things. A farmer can't just go out in the woods and kill stuff for experience, they are supposed to plant crops and harvest things to get experience.
Well meet Arnold the farmer who doesn't want to farm on his quest to not be a farmer.
Worth the read!
A very interesting take on the class system that I am surprised I have never seen before. I expect that there will be other analogies into how things work in our world that are equally well done and humorous.

I enjoyed this series immensely, I read it here on RR, and again on my kindle. The characters are well developed, with great personalities, and the system is a lot of fun, and makes decent sense.
The plot progression is great, and it makes sense how the power level developed.

Great besides first chapter
In first chapter there is a future scene which i advise to skip and he also beats a child which is hella *.
Skip the future part. Even firat chapter rewrite id advise to do the same. Really ruins any suprise like all future scenes in everything do. Its like immediately telling you this is the destination which in my opinion is one of the things that kinda ruins any suprise. It makes it were theres never a moment were your thinking whats happening next really

Overall: feels great to follow the MC on his adverture in the new world. Had a thrill as he discovered exploits in the system and socitial structure, as well as the action scenes. Bye the end of the story i really wanted to stay in this world and continue following the MC's progession.
Conclusion: I really enjoyed the story (read it on Kindle), i just came here looking for word on Book 2... Anything hallening?

The juice is worth the squeeze when it comes to this book. Got it on amazon, read it twice. Worth the time, and money!
It may be, that you can only understand just how quickly this guy falls into despair if you have had an immediate family member murdered. In a way, he is both alive and dead, victim and survivor. The first chapter might have been a shock to people, but certainly was not to me. Finding the first thing to bring joy, grabbing it tightly, then warping and perverting it to try and fill a hole that you cant even reach. He makes his way back to someone he recognizes by doing good.
This story is not a tragedy. (I just personally recognized the rapid descent the character took after waking up, and had an appreciation for his emotional journey) It is delightfully funny, well paced, with a character that sticks to his personal brand of problem solving. The people he meets along the way are varied, though I did feel it lacked a sort of... Regional variance in character? I mean... Everyone is from the same region in this story (which will get an influx of new people from a far away region in th next book). But while the character lets us know that going from a town to village to city feels like differnt ages in our history, we dont get to explore more of the characters from these places.
This is why i am not a writer (aside from deep fear), I would have a very hard time choosing between keeping a story tight and well paced vs exploring the people and places.
Oh.... And I am long winded 😁.... But the book was worth spending the time to write how I felt... as opposed to just dropping off a 5 and making my merry way back to my reading list here on RR.

The roles of people in this world are stringent. Your class is determined at birth, and only by reaching level 100 can you do anything about it.
For someone summoned to this world by mistake, those restrictions are just waiting to be exploited.
As a farmer, the only way to level up is to gain experience from events that impact his farm. He finds the easiest fastest way to level is to kill while protecting his farm.
