Description

Fighters break things.

Mechanics fix ‘em.

Those were the two truths Perry lived back on Earth. When he got isekai’d into a young noble with newfound magical powers, he found himself stuck with an awful choice. Try to survive on the Front, the mystical battleground where Hydras and Devils roamed free… Or find another way.

So he took an oath. An oath that made him a Magus Dominus. A mage lord. He’d escaped his fate, least for the moment.

For most his life, Perry was used to being alone. When he got sucked into Ro'an, he was suddenly thrust into the role of surrogate son to his loyal servant and half-brother to a tempestuous Storm mage. With their help, Perry prepared his best to be lord and protector for his domain. And if he fought a few monsters, and helped a few people along the way, well…

Fighters break things. Mechanics fix 'em.

-Progression Fantasy with light LitRPG elements. These are slowly revealed as the past is unburied.-Limited Romance subplot starting in B2. No Harem.-Kingdom building and magic progression

The first standout thing is that Draith never stops introducing new elements. Ever.
In most stories, once you get past the first 30 chapters, the only thing that truly evolves is the plot. Worldbuilding, characters, lore — they usually just tag along out of necessity, shaped to fit the plot.
Not here. Draith is relentless in expanding his universe, and it feels like it’s the widening horizon that drives the plot forward, not the other way around. That alone makes it feel fresh and deeply immersive.
Since Draith likes to do things his own way, character interactions follow suit. They’re very task-driven — connections form naturally through shared accomplishments. The result is genuinely heartwarming, with a touch of humor from the MC’s own sense of inadequacy and the way he pokes fun at others’ quirks.
The author constantly breaks the rhythm without warning, catching me off guard — in the best way. New characters are introduced at his own pace, and it always feels original.
Just like other stories may switch POVs to offer variety, Draith does too — but with his own twist. The story shifts focus based on urgency and priorities: the MC spends short arcs (a few chapters at a time) diving into village politics, merchant negotiations, child-rearing, psychology, technology, adventure, production, love, prototyping… and I’m sure I’m forgetting some.
I find this story particularly enjoyable and genuinely interesting. I came across it when it was still a fledgling — just 10 chapters in — and I immediately felt it had the potential to grow into something unique, something that would give me new feelings. And honestly, I think it did.
At this point, I can only hope the author welds himself to his computer in a cave somewhere — not to write faster, but just to write more. The rhythm is perfect. Nothing should change.

I'm a big fan of slow burn stories and I have to say that this one tops them all in being slow. It takes it's time, letting things develop. It's the first time I've seen a couple months of travel feel like such. Day by day of trekking, fighting off the cold and chatting with companions.
The dialogue is strong, the MC is fantastic and the world varied and intersting.
The grammar leaves little to be desired and I have only met one typo so far.
You're not going to find a story of seeming power for powers sake here. Every spell has a cost and a purpose. Way more utilitarian in its approach to magic than most.
I'm definitely hooked by now. I can't wait to see how the story progresses from here (seriously I stayed up til 5 am reading by accident)

There once was a man who took the first step in becoming a mage. His brothers talked him into doing something stupid, which was summoning a soul from another world to suborn it and take its power. Unfortunately the soul from the other world did unto him what he had intended to do to it. Thus our protagonist gets isekaid into a world of magic.
His overbearing father pushes him into committing to a leadership position on the frontier half a world away. His half sister decides to do the same and they work together to prepare for the journey. His sister is far ahead of him in developing her magic so she pushes him to excel and he makes great strides.
They journey into the unknown together until they must separate to manage their own territories. This is the point in the story where I am now.
This is a very comfortable story to read. It has left me wanting more. I find the characters to be quite believable and interesting. The story is about growth, exploration and adventure. The world is fleshed out just enough to be believable and includes a vast array of cultures and situations that will tease you into being interested.
    I highly recommend this book.

Absolutely captivating! This story masterfully blends the familiar tropes of reincarnation with the exciting world of magic. The protagonist's journey from their past life to becoming a mage lord is filled with intrigue, clever strategies, and thrilling battles. The world-building is rich and detailed, and the characters are well-developed, making you genuinely care about their fates. I couldn't put it down! The author's pacing is excellent, keeping you hooked from beginning to end. Highly recommended for fans of fantasy and those seeking a fresh take on the reincarnation genre.

I didn't even realize this was by Draith until I'd caught up with the series, but I'm almost glad for that. This story blew my expectations out of the water. Wonderfully designed magic and characters, interesting world, and a story that you might not normally expect these days. I'm very curious, and can't wait to read more.

The story is great and should be read by anyone who likes kingdom builders or just want a interesting magic system to explore. The main charecter is competent and had a interesting past that is not just instantly spelled out to the reader. The supporting class is full of unique charecters that all individualy bring something to the interactions there part of. The magic system seems to be a mix between the classic mage and cultivation leading it to be a very interesting path to read the MC walking. My only real complaint is that some times the first word of a sentence is missing.it never gets to bad a problem but it is noticeable. There's also a few times we're words exclusive to the setting are used and are not explained at least not immediately. I barely minded this but to some it might break up the flow of the story a tad. This is by far the best origanil story I have read on Royal Road! Anyone who is on the fence about whether they should read this should. I amlost passed it by since I was looking for a litrpg novel but I'm glad I didn't. Great read all around!

This story had a lot of elements to build upon resulting in an excellent dish. Litrpg elements, basebuilding and politics, personal and ethical struggles, and fleshing out a lot of characters with personality, and foreshadowing, lore building, and some unique power scales and development. A most excellent read so far.

This is in it's way a wonderfully written and executed story.
My issue stems from the fact it's labeled as a LitRPG which i've noticed as a growing issue as more people label their story as such without actually doing anything I would generally associate with said genre.
i.e this story has no system i've seen (aside from the general magic progression but that's expected to be covered if you have magic), no stats or game screen, and not even a grander idea of a blessing or working force behind the spread of magic other than just birth.

Started off strong. Lots of interesting mysteries they could be looking into right now... or the MC could be focused on progressing like he was at the beginning... Instead feels like its chapter after chapter of a weird love triangle and building a meaningless train. Turning into a slog where you can see tasty tidbits of where the story could go that keep you wanting more yet never actually getting a full taste.

I liked the beginning of this story - it had all the components of a fun isekai. But as things go on the holes start to appear.
My big issue is with the main character. He goes from just bumbling along learning magic to making naive/stupid decisions for the sake of pushing the story along. For instance, not sufficiently guarding a bad guy so that we can have the obvious escape and chase scene. The MC's flashbacks don't really make sense to me either...don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say that they feel disconnected from the MC's actions.
Is he a naive kid learning magic, a mechanic that only understands things once he uses an engine or car analogy, or a killer with a dark past? Depends on the day I guess, as the vibe I get is different chapter to chapter.
That's my main gripe. The grammar and spelling is good. The plot is just okay - it doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast as everyone wanders around and runs into encounters, but whatever. I wouldn't mind if the characters were more appealing.
