Naruto: Azure Awakening

Description

In this world, wherever there is light, there are always shadows.

Kaoru Takime is reborn into the brutal world of Naruto, not in Konoha or any of the great nations, but in the Land of Water - a place where violence decides everything. He remembers watching Naruto series in his previous life, but in this one, he’s inherited something far greater than mere memories: the lost Kekkei Genkai of the Takime Clan.

With war and betrayal everywhere, Takime clan has a goal - to create a new village, a place where everyone can live in peace.

But Kirigakure won’t let them build without a fight. If Kaoru wants to protect his clan and new family, he’ll have to cut down anyone who stands in his way.

❗What to expect:

* Slow Progression.

* Lots of Fights, Drama, and Bloody Scenes.

* MC isn’t heroic but forms deep bonds.

* Romance may develop naturally over time, but there will be no harem.

* The starting universe will already have slight differences from the original. For example, the Senju clan isn’t wiped out in my story. These changes make Azure Awakening a slightly AU version of Naruto.

* Politics, intrigues, schemes and also clan building elements

* I’ll respect canon characters and their personalities, but as the story progresses, I’ll introduce original elements and may alter or remove key events. The MC won’t be focused on preserving the original timeline.

This is my first novel, so I hope to grow as a writer together with it xD

Personally, I have found this story to be very entertaining overall and I think it’s worth giving a shot. The main character is thrust into an unknown situation in a world he is aware of, without knowledge of his personal previous life. I think this allows him to better connect to his new life, give him a reason to get stronger because of future enemies he knows of, and since he has the memories of the life, he has lived so far in the Naruto world, have some level of adaption.
I also like that the main character is a hard worker while also being talented with a unique bloodline ability. Unlike some Naruto, Fanfiction, there isn’t spiraling depression, no type of edge, lord persona, and even after his first kill, it was tough, but again, no downward emotional spiral.
there was some really good progression for the main character in regards to his skills, showing that he is talented, but isn’t on the road to becoming God by the time he is 12 years old lol. He’s definitely on the path And into becoming an incredibly powerful and deadly individual, but that is going to be in the process of hard work and years of effort.
The side characters are also very likable, his family feeling relatable, and his first friend feeling like a real person. I think there would definitely be some real emotion if any of them were ever lost or hurt in someway, which goes to show the quality of the writing.
overall, I think you should give the story a shot, at the very least, the first arc of the story, to see if this is your cup of tea.

Usually i dont reead fanfictions. The only ones I've read so far are naruto wind calamity and hp magical journey.
I think this novel delivers what wind calamity lacks - characters that have humanlike emotions. Kaoru is still far from adulthood so who knows author may screw up later, just like it happened in wind calamity case but for now i like it enough to give 5 stars.

Based on the world of naruto you still need some info from the manga or show but not an overwhelming amount I've never watched all of naruto and when I get confused I can easily look something up pacing is good side characters are well thought and author isn't afraid to kill them off

Fanfics, in my experience, are usually either kinda trash or much better than they have any right to be.
This one falls kinda in the middle, the starting chapters are kinda clumsy but serviceable, and the Author managed to dodge most of the classic pitfalls most fanfics fall into (mainly power scaling, as you'd expect), and the MC is not a walking deus ex machina (for now at least)
The MC is also not bad, he is not super interesting or anything, but he is not annoying or dislikeable (which is already a lot), overall good shounen MC lol.
And it does get a lot better after the first 20 or so chapters when the author seems to find the style he is going for, and it absolutely nails probably the most important thing any fanfic needs to do: having good depictions of cannon characters and interesting interactions with beloved ones.
Thats when the story honestly hooked me, and I'm all for it.
Besides all of that, grammar is serviceable with some mistakes here and there but nothing too eggregious, and the characters depicted are decently fleshed out.
Also this is apparently not long enough for RR, here have this GIRTHY extra piece of useless text cheeky website you.

Excellent world building and power progression. Not too fast or too slow. Interactions feel genuine and tbh I almost cried once or twice. Kudos to the author.
The only reason I can’t give this 5 stars is that the author falls victim to that oh so common ‘turn the mc stupid randomly for no other purpose than furthering the plot’ which is something I just can’t stand.
I just caught up and noticed there were no updates for 3 weeks. Hopefully it isn’t dropped, since I hope to get through these politics heavy chapters and back to the action.

This is a good Naruto story, only complaints is that the writer spends a bit to much time on other POV and seems to favor the MC older sister a bit more than him.
Sometimes it feels like she is more the main character than him but that's not the worst thing ever.
Decent characters and storyline but might have altered personalities of main characters a bit to much.
Power scaling is all over the place and MC shoukd be way better than he is right now.
At first he grows insane fast but basically stagnate for 3 to 4 years for almost no reason, writer keeps saying he isn't a genius level character just someone with a good kekkei genkai but the MC early on creates many of his own techniques using water.
Overall the writer just needs to work on power scaling and maybe more training arcs.

It's worth reading and worth following,
    My gripes are
The mc seems too naive sometimes, hope that changes and it looks like it is so that's promising.
The story Author uses A.I art for their novel, big turn off for me, I believe they'd pull in alot more people if they commit funds to actual art from artists, not to support artists but to show some proper respect and love to their story, I don't know why they use a.i art but I hope they stop, it's ugly and doesn't do their story which isn't bad and with polish could be great, justice.
Author. Please save funds and get artwork for your story, maybe show some artists you like and want to hire for your viewers and make a poll out of it. a suggestion XD
If I had to say where things could improve it'd be that the characters don't come off as flat but. . . I am not sure how to word this, to me they don't have enough presence or information about them or something, I don't feel inclined to care about them which is not good.
Keep doing your best, I will leave this 3 star review in support but will raise it if things improve.

Right well from where I last left a review the story kept up it's up and down quality, my last comment was deleted, (really ?) anyways I'll leave this on a foot note of this story had really decent things about it but ultimately fails to be anything unique, author made the mc special, made him smart, learn from mistakes, and then suffer being made a fool from the most mundane trick.
Learn consistency and don't erase peoples words cause your feelings get hurt, Criticism is not an attack on your person.

Standard power fantasy fic, It's not great and its not completely terrible. Its pretty mid actually the characters and bland as hell and pretty 2d no depth to be honest. The setting up of a hidden village in the same kingdom/nation(land of water) is stretching the suspension of disbelief quite a bit. You are a competition that might cut into kirigakures bottomline and you're telling me that you're left alone uh huh sure,

Yeah, this isnt that good at all. The story had interesting beginnings, but the pacing is off and the longer the story progresses, the more directionless it becomes. The MC doesn't feel like the main character at all, hes constantly boosted up as this potential broken genius, but isnt at the same time. He does all this training behind the scenes, that doesnt mean anything apparently, since hes still using the same 3 moves. He lacks true creativity with his dojutsu. His characterisation is out of whack, and the author seems to be more interested in having unneeded dialogue and 'character building' moments that are both flat and ruin the quality of the story.
It honestly feels like halfway through the beginning arc, the author pressed the skip button for too long. The world speeds up in growing around the MC in a way that is too fast, too soon. His growth suddenly slows down to a crawl after a certain part since the author still needs time to tweak certain things (no hate to that btw, be intentional with your power ups but also make sure you do that thinking ahead of time so it doesn't stall the story) and the training arc we were supposed to get isnt really a training arc. Just more exposition, village antics and light romance but with training 'moments' that are vague and are roughly mentioned before moving on.
With how far I am into the story, and the fact that the cast around the MC gets a lot of unnecessary screentime, I surprisingly don't have strong ties to anyone. Even the MC only has some attachment due to the fact that he is the MC. We've had filler chapters that could have been cut or just condensed into 1 chapter overall. I've been promised so many things by the characters and author that im just not getting it. I came to see an interesting take on a popular fandom with a unique MC, and instead, I got a bunch of flat characters and a story that should just be a slice of life instead of a Naruto self-insert.
