[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] started decently late so will be uploading every time I make a new chapter, so roughly every day. I don't quite know if my story is gory but I still put the tag just in case

Also my grammar does get better. At about chapter 10 I figure out how tenses work which is nice. Also around chapter 35 I actually get a pretty awesome proof reader and now spend around an hour for editing. So it does get better I promise

Despite - Tatsuki SenshiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0this is my indepth review as my basic one got changed as i wrote this i guess
is napoleanic france but with in a time of magic. A newborn empire though troubling reports in the east suggests "madmen" going crazy destorying everything so Bert and his 2 teammates with his fellow soldiers of a legion go investigate wats happeneing but things go south very quick.
overral score is 5/5. the story has a engaging story as it keeps u interested in wats happeneing as the main focus is with our mc as he navigated through the crisis dat is upon them
grammaer 5/5. through tha grammar in the start of the story is bad but the authors did some work editing with help to not have mistakes in chapters as best he could
story5/5. the story is fun as is classic in a way but isnt at the same time though in my opinion i see a pattern from 2 games i wont tell but u will see wat im talking if u read like chapter 30 n onwards. the mc a new soldier find himself in a crisis invlovling the possible fall of nations as how he and his soldiers of his legion follow plot. fun basically.
characters5/5. are written like real people who you read, judge and may relate to like drinking problems. they give life to the story and arent dead in many overrated and dead novels u may find widespread. they move the story forward as they struggle forward in the said crisis as dealing with death and horrors but yeah fun.
style5/5. is greatly written as mistakes are thoroughly fixed before post. the pacing as well great as it is shows the timeframe of events greately as it follows a story from actions to boringess as it builds up to a element from both to write something fun n exciting.
though overrall in honesty its a fun story from which u follow the adventure of our fresh French soldier and his squadmates in said crisis againt "madmen" or if u just like weird zombie stuff read it is fun as how a napoleanic time with magic handles an apocylpse though dont quote me on wat i say n decide for urself as ill leave a l - DecadunceRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'll do a quick semi advanced review. The story follows our boy Bert as he and his legion (Part of the francia army) are sent to investigate reports of "immortal men rising". Thinking it's the Collition (Francia's enemies) they are prepared to deal with any amount of regular men, however what they meet isnt so regular.
The characters are probably the worse part, everyone who's not Bert is forgettable canon fodder, i do like Bert though.
Grammar was pretty poor until I, the great and gloriously (un)biased proof reader, came along and fixed every issue ever. Grammar does start picking up at about chapter 30 a bit, which was when I was brought on.
The zombies and worldbuilding are great, and the amount of magic is quite low and unique. Best parts are definitely the zombies and worldbuilding - LCNewsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I absolutely loved Napoleonic Zombies, I believe it is a hidden gem of Royal Road. I grew so invested in this story that I read the entire story in two days.
The story makes us follow Bertrand, a skirmisher of Franca’s army. The lead is just an unfortunate guy who, being part of the army, has to fight the undead hordes. His struggles feel real and his thinking is relatable. You’ll grow attached to the character for his authenticity and how unfortunate he is.
While the main character is really good, the Worldbuilding is where this novel really shines. The world is intriguing and while we are told quite a lot throughout the length of the story so many questions are left unanswered. The threat of the undead is not given a reason nor will you know why certain zombies are stronger/smarter than the rest.
I cannot stress it enough, worldbuilding is absolutely great. The short length of the novel gives a lot of information yet leaves so much unanswered. The zombies and their variants are a mystery throughout the entire story, the source of the scourge is left unknown and the secrets of the army are all left unanswered. But while it may seem like the story lacks, it is quite the contrary as it leaves the reader to piece the clues together.
The style of writing is good, I don’t have much to say about it. I liked the way this story was told, the novel sucks you in and only spits you out once the story is finished.
The worst part of the story was the grammar, like the author says in multiple chapters the tenses are weird. In the author’s notes of Chapter 15, Golden Crow explains how he writes the same way he would read, leaving us with a mix of present and past tenses.
While it is the biggest flaw of Napoleonic Zombies, you get used to it and won’t pay attention to it later on. (it also gets better later in the story)
Overall the story is really really good, I usually do not leave reviews but I felt compelled to praise this one. I am hopeful that Golden Crow will expand this un - Magabeast_pro01Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Hey
So I haven't done much reviews , but here
1.BE MINDFULL OF THE TAGS
There is a reason for the tragedy tag
2. This one is more about the history and the circumstances of the beggin of the Zombie apocalypse and the author does a great job of introducing the surroundings and story revoving around this.
This is also done in an intresting way, in the story we get to know more about the apocilypse through the MC Bertand, though I wouldn't want to call him an MC since here he just serves as a tool through which we get to know more about the zombies and the mindset of the millitary itself.
3.EMOTION, here we get into a lot of details about the emotional mindset of the soldiers and there superiors, it's done in an interesting way.
4.Overall I would say just be patient as it has more of a focus on the surroundings and the mentality of the people than an OP protag trying to save the world (Remember it's a tragedy)
Overall other than a few grammatical errors seen through out (they r small and low,but every chapter has at least one) it's a Good Story - SmilingDogRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Not sure what an advanced review is so I won't click that box.
Regardless, excellent story with very nice period details with a nicely integrated magic system that shows more than it tells and doesn't take up too much space. My first gripe is that I really wish the zombies were explained a little better, but I am probably spoiled by so many novels that force exposition down your throat to bloat the word count.
My second gripe is this book needs more editing. I can fill in the missing words or what was spelt incorrectly in my thinking meat so it wasn't too bad.
I will definitely recommend this to my friends should the occasion arise.
TL:DR; Had fun reading over a few days, 4/5
