Mythstery [Completed]

Description
What happens when myths become our reality? For Saxon, it means a lot more mysteries he needs to solve.
From gods like Hermes to scientific theories like Schrödinger's cat to legends of human history like King Leonidas to cryptids like Bigfoot, anything can become a myth. It is avatars who bring those myths into reality. In exchange, they are granted powers based on their interpretation of the mythos they embody.
Saxon is one such avatar, but that's not all he is. Saxon's a detective too, and despite his passion for wild theories, and willingness to bend the law a li̶t̶t̶l̶e̶ lot to test them, he's pretty good at what he does.
So when avatars start exhibiting unnatural behavior, Saxon may be the only person who can figure out what or who is the cause.

- CrystalineWyvernRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"I'm a first time author, and I wrote a frankly sub-par piece of work."
1. Fuck you, this is one of the best stories I've read on this site
2. This was great and you should keep writing, I don't think I have any real critique for this book, but I will put any of the very few I do
3. The power system was very unique, the power being about gods and myths instead of being chosen by a god or something is very cool and I loved it, however the power system isn't very fleshed out.
4. The characters felt very real to me and I loved reading from every point of view
5. The fights not being unnecessarily long and drawn out was very nice, I liked that the mc wasn't absurdly overpower
Overall thank you for writing an amazing story. - IrisveilRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I usually don’t leave proper reviews, let alone advanced ones, but this fiction didn’t give me any other choice.
It’s good, good enough that it doesn’t belong here; It’d be better suited properly published, with the author getting everything they deserve for it.
To break it down:
The style. The style is nice, clean, and easy to digest, never really slowing down, and making things quite clear. I never really had complaints about the style.
The story itself is simple, very much so: People developing powers based on myths, and where that leads society. It’s nothing particularly groundbreaking, but man do I love the execution, especially with the little bits of foreshadowing you only realize reading back. An interesting power system adds to it even moreso.
And grammar… Grammar is something I only ever notice when there are mistakes, which, in the case of this fiction, I noticed none.
Characters? Oh boy, the characters. The author made every character nice and developed even in the short run of the first volume, and I loved all of them, even the antagonists. They all meshed well with each other in their own ways, and I wanted to see more.
So, overall? My only complaint about this novel is that I wished it was longer. I love it, and I’m looking forward to more from the author in the future. - MagicalnesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall It's a pretty interesting read, to expand on the premise past what the description is, with some minor spoilers(Nothing that isn't revealed in the first 10 chapters or so). People can manifest Myths they know such as Bigfoot and King Arthur, the fun part is how they manifest their powers is based on their viewpoint of the myth itself. Overall I rate it highly, ~4.5, bumping up to 5 to help against trolls
Personally, I think the main mystery set to solve is set up pretty well, and I'm looking forward to reading more about this world. - Michael WhitmerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love this story just binged it today. it scratches that good old detective itch while incorporating mythology aspects in a cool interesting way. personally I love the idea and how you've really built up a realistic world about it. I would suggest for hype purposes say its something like "Sherlock Holmes" meets "Percy Jackson." as i can see some inspiration frlm both. I am eagerly looking forward to more.
- Mike MartindaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story all in all and better then the followers indicated. It's hard to come up with your own thing and while this initially made me think of the Fate animie saga I quickly realized that is its own thing. I do think lack of feedback by way of followers and fans discouraged the writer which is a shame.
- GhostRiderAlphaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I like this story. I actually like this story a lot. I read it start to finish in a single day because it kept me interested start to finish.
I adore the plot, the theme, the sheer creativity that went into this world and the authors treatment of various myths. Even beyond that I adore how effortless to understand the world is, and how that doesn't feel like it holds the story back in the slightest.
The only reason I say this story leaves room for the author to grow is technicalities and experience. The author points out in authors notes that this was their first story -- I can see the evidence of that. Overall grammar is good, though not perfect. Probably 4.5/5 on grammar to me. The flow of the words does get broken sometimes, which is a bigger issue that, while it can be overlooked, is alone the reason I lowered it to four stars overall.
Having said that. For a first story by someone who doesn't read much, this was amazing. I hope the author continues to write, because I believe once they gain the experience to catch the few mistakes they made, their stories will become 5 star worthy with ease.
