Description
"Pride, aggression, capacity for violence? No thanks!" -Is what Meili Strauss wishes she could say, since in her past life she enjoyed living in a modern first-world country.Unfortunately, she's been reborn in a world where pride, aggression and violence are the three main ways to grow your superpowers. It's been four years since her transmigration, and the best she can do is hide her hatred of society through an elaborate act.The world ofunOrdinary values all the things she doesn't have. Even worse, the Bureau of Authorities – the all-powerful governing body full of the world's most powerful superhumans – doesn't take cultural dissent very kindly. Still, for a lover of peace, Meili's superpowers aren't too bad. She's good enough at acting to fool her parents into thinking their daughter's still alive. And she has foreknowledge of this once-fictional universe, along with all the fantastically strong main characters, from her days as an obsessive fan. . . . It's difficult to stay herself, when the world would be so much easier if she didn't. *You donotneed to have any experience with the unOrdinary webcomic to read and enjoy this story. It is written in a way such that it stands on its own. If you enjoy complex Xianxia or superpower stories, I think this story will be right up your alley. *Includes violence, bigotry, slurs, gore, etc. *Updates every Sunday, chapters are 4k-7k words. Credit to Nocton (Spacebattles) for my story cover.

- AGFarbRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is very good in a few significant and differing ways.
You don’t need familiarity with the original story (which is great as I know nothing about it), the main character actively develops her convictions and then as a consequence of them begins to directly act on them, and furthermore is not shy about manipulating people directly in order to get closer to her overall objectives.
Most regular stories where a character is a SI and has foreknowledge of the plot just end up with them interacting with the cast of the main plot but overall not grappling with what being a SI actually means. The world of UnOrdinary at a glance doesn’t seem amazingly deep, you have powers, you fight to make those powers stronger and then boom you have the basic setup for infinite amounts of conflict to write about. My Name is Beautiful makes you grapple and consider ‘what would it actually mean to live in a setting like this?’ and then smashes you over the head with the realization that it would be horrifically awful.
Where there are systematic assaults and torture built into the fabric of society, everyone’s rank is almost completely arbitrarily based on their birth, there is a literal dystopian shadow government pulling the strings to keep the common man down and the worst part is that there is effectively nothing someone who is already part of the top 1% in rank can do about it. In a world like this what can someone actually do to change things? The answer is to ruthlessly manipulate people and network into influential places to achieve your goals. The main use the SI gets out of their foreknowledge is to position themselves to interact with people she knows can help her get to her goals. The writing is so well done though that I could easily imagine the same scenes and plot hooks being set up with a character who was just an OC in the setting. It’s a refreshing breath of air to read a narrative of someone who recognizes how awful the world they live in is, identify what they ne - AltheaDionaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As a broke international uni student, I would buy a physical copy of this novel if the author ever decided to print it. I am that serious about how well this was written.I personally do not like fanfics and when I first read the title and saw the old cover, I did not have the highest of expectations as I've been reading on this website for almost 7 years now and I'm tired of ambiguous titles. I also read the webtoon this fic is based on like maybe 4 years ago and dropped it then (not because it was bad, but because I finished the available chapters and forgot about it).Anyway, the story is so captivating that I binge read 620 ish pages in two days. The characters are more fleshed out here than in the original (no diss to original author, their work is also fantastic). I love love love the way the author chose the main character to be. I love her character and the way we slowly understand organically why and how she behaves the way she does does not feel rushed nor out of place. I won't comment on the world-building because anyone who read Unordinary understands how creative the system and politics of that world is. I also feel like reading a fic about that webtoon, specifically in our current times and state of the world, feels so ironic.I am a big dreamer of revolutions where normal ppl take it upon themselves to slowly undermine the status quo and strategically (not impulsively or individualistically) plan ahead and find permanent and positive ways to overthrow the big government that's working against the interest of the majority of the people. In a lot of literature on this site, it is always the bullied guy who suddenly gets OP who just waltzes inside headquarters and just destroys everyone in order to overtake the 'big guy' and rule a new system with a bunch of sidekicks. This way of thinking is unrealistic as one man could never be the hero of billions of people. This is not how a good revolution works. This story, as stupid as I may sound, starts with one educ
- Alternat12345Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is excelent. While it doesnt require knowledge of the webcomic unordinary, it looks even better when compared to it. MC is powerful but not top tier and will surely never be. Unordinary is a setting where your potential limits are respected; no one gets to take a pill and go from 3 to 7 like in a xianxia. There is a LOT of violence in this setting, since its socially encouraged. I hope the author can keep a steady pace and win the race.
- ArcanaVitaeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been reading this fanfiction over on SB for a while now. It's the story that's gotten me into UnOrdinary as a series. Seeing how Meili is forced to adapt in order to navigate and then thrive in such a world is really fascinating. The journey of Meili going from a girl is basically trying her best to be apart from the evil to her embracing being a devil to change things is a fascinating journey.
It's also really interesting to see the nature of UnOrdinary society, people and culture explored so deeply. Meili's position as an outsider, someone with connections to lower level people, higher level people and seeing various types of indivuals and lifestyles does a great job of showing the various persepctives.
The viewpoints of the other characters are really compelling as well, you can see why people hold the values and beliefs they do, how they're shaped and influenced by the world they live in, by their circumstances and how they're used to explore the issues present in the world. - BritishGrenadierRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There’s a reason I wont touch the source material. This hellworld is pain dog. But by god the intrigue and world building mean that you dont have to. The protagonist Meili Strauss is part of a hell world. One where instead of skin colour or gender you get segregated based on your power level. A caste system so s*** that It would make apartheid or India look like child’s play. But instead of falling to despair she goes all in at trying to change her world. One manipulated friend at a time. (You will see a lot of manipulated friends.) I have stayed in my bed reading this for 8 hours straight. You should too!
- Command masterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story, very well written. The characters in particular are very entertaining and personable. I had to take a point from the story score because there haven't been any significant setbacks so far - I personally don't mind it very much, but it is something to note - there are many challenges, but once there's a plan it seems to always go perfectly.
I like Meili very much, and her struggles with the society at the beginning of the story are intriguing to read. There's a good amount of planning scenes which are fun to read.
I also enjoy Alicia very much, although it feels like too often she's relegated to just her power, with her character only shining through rarely compared to the rest of the cast (despite them being much more powerful, amusingly).
Claire is a very relatable character as well, and I hope she will feature more in the story.
Meili's manipulation of John feels a bit too much compared to the necessary results, at this point. I feel like if she tells him everything, given she never lied about anything too important and the results were good, she'd be forgiven and she could stop flagellating herself about it. - AmonxKleinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly when I started reading it i didnt had much hope as I have read og comic a few years back and dropped it.Now this story is much better rendition of unordinary world.Meili the main character is of the thinking that ends justify the means and her going through the turmoil her choices brings is joy to read.Overall it is bit slow burn but a great read
- FL3xusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Damn, what a roller coaster of emotion, the author is really good at writing.I love Psychological themed story's and the author seriously nailed it so far, it's a deep dive into human emotion.I had started unOrdinary shortly after it started, but I dropped it shortly after a few chapters in, I'm not sure what the exact reason was but maybe after reading this fan fiction I will give it a another go.Definitely one of the best story's on RR in my opinion, can't wait for me ( seriously I need more, pls GIMME!)
- FayhemRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is extremely well-written with compelling character work, and I really love seeing a social spec character actually represented convincingly. While this is technically fanfic, I'll attest from personal experience that you don't need any knowledge of canon whatsoever to follow everything that's happening and enjoy it - honestly if I hadn't been told it was fanfic, I probably would have just taken it as one of those "transmigrated into a fictional setting the character's read before" stories there are a bunch of.
- FireGumzRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I want to preface this by saying that I haven't read unOrdinary webcomic so I don't how much of setting has been expanded upon by the author, but I can definitely say that they have put in a lot of thought in writing and the dialogue.
It's really hard to believe that this is a fanfiction that's how good the level of writing is here.
The story has excellent characters as well so please give it a try if you are on the fence about it.
