Mall Crawl ‘86: A Dungeon Crawler LitRPG

It’s 1986 and four teens are just trying to survive the weirdest mall trip of their lives.

Arcadia Mall is now a dungeon with no escape. Thousands of trapped shoppers just turned into elves, goblins, dwarves, and worse.

Now, these survivors must use their Player's Manuals to track their stats and inventory, level up, choose real skills and dive into the myriad of dungeons that used to be brick and mortar storefronts.

In a hidden control room, pulling the strings and manipulating fates, shadowy dungeon masters (and one bored girlfriend) roll dice, check their rulebooks and argue over snacks.

Neon lights buzz. Mullets wave in the breeze. Players check the armor class of their acid-wash jeans. And our 4 heroes try to survive the experience.

Very creative idea. As a sucker for anything 80's, I love the idea of setting a LitRPG adventure in a shopping mall. The system is integrated into the story well, and the Dungeons and Dragons trappings work perfectly for the time and place. I like the behind-the-scenes interludes which hint at a deeper mystery, too. I'll definitely be back for more!

Just read the first chapter and am looking forward to more! Not my usual genre but I love the 80s references.
The character development is strong ... I can definitely visualize them as I read.
Hope the subchapters continue in subsequent chapters. I'm curious to know where that goes!
Definitely recommended for anyone who's a fan of Stranger Things.
