"Where the light is brightest, the shadows are deepest." -Johann von Goethe Discord now live! -https://discord.gg/wgh34vjMrp Incursions, Emergences, and Chaos Events. Anathema, Nightmares, and Aberrations. These blights have caused untold suffering and destruction for many worlds across the Great Tapestry. Across these worlds, humanity has developed countless social constructs and[Systems]alike to combat these extradimensional incursions. But what of the worlds that have never experienced an invasion before? Worlds that, for all intents and purposes, are stuck in the Silver Age of Magical Girls and Villains? Worlds with no context or dedicated weapons to combat these monsters? This is the story of a girl who would dream of a brighter tomorrow. A dream that was cut short by her world's very first Chaos Event. What to expect: -Glass cannon tomboy MC befriending people with extreme prejudice using big pewpew love lasers.-The usual Royal Road MG subgenre trope of extradimensional monster invasions. "Magical Girl Harmonia Lux" is a spellbinding addition to the magical girl genre that effortlessly blends elements of urban fantasy, survival horror, and progression fantasy.
As a continuation of the author's previous Writathon 'book 0' entry, this web serial stands firmly on its own, inviting newcomers to dive headfirst into a world reminiscent of the campy world of 'Silver Age' superheroes picking up the pieces after an apocalyptic event.
While the earlier tale was an intense apocalyptic survival horror with LitRPG elements, this one shifts focus to the aftermath, exploring how the world rebuilds itself in the immediate aftermath.
The story centers around Sienna, a down-to-earth tomboy who still has a soft, affectionate and quirky side to her. She's instantly likable—not your typical protagonist, but someone who feels real and relatable. Sienna was thrust into the world of magic through an "emergency contract" with a mysterious magical cat creature named Bastet. Out of sheer desperation — and love, Sienna took the contract in a heartbeat to save her childhood best friend Albert, who acts as a bit of an older brother figure for her.
Of course, there was a lot more to it than just that — Sienna is supremely talented as a magical girl. And from the worldbuilding in World 0, there was no way the eponymous 'Guardians' that grant these contracts could have passed her up as a child without good reason.
Regardless of what revelations there were or are yet to be revealed about Sienna's legacy and heritage, she has found herself enrolled in an academy for superheroes alongside dozens of other "Magical Knights" who have been training their whole lives just for a seat at this institution.
This sets up the central conflict of the early arcs: Sienna versus the expectations of her peers. Many of the long-standing trainees view her as an outsider who didn't earn her place the traditional way.
The tension is palpable as she navigates skepticism and even hostility from those who th

This is the second story from this author that I've read, and I'm really enjoying it. Connected very loosely to Pizza's other story Technomancer, Harmonia Lux has a great mix of action, believable characters with their own quirks and flaws, and some really good heartwarming moments.
The occasional mystery and perspectives of other characters help round out what I think is a story absolutely worth sticking around to see more of as it continues to come out and evolve.

I really appreciate the quantity and quality of character interactions in this story so far. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a long solo survival “alone in an apocalypse” tale, and sometimes I really crave some human connection - and this story has characters meeting and bonding and doing all kinds of stuff. I’m curious to follow along and see where the character power progression takes us, and where the early world building setup into primary story conflict takes us, but right now I’m just happy to report that I’m loving the characters’ interactions and hope that carries forward as the tale continues.

Cute Magical Girls doing Magical Girl things!
Well written, lovable characters, fun system, school setting with mean girls!
Excellent graphs and inserted tables, makes the story that much more fun without breaking the immersion.
Follow along for a romp against the forces of Darkness, and find out if Lux ever gets her shoes replaced!

"Magical Girl Harmonia Lux" is the kind of story that sneaks up on you.
At first, it feels like your typical magical girl adventure, unapologetically leaning into Pretty Cure and 2000s era tropes but as you dig in, you find a surprisingly raw and emotional core.
It focuses on themes that often get overlooked in the genre, like vulnerability, family, and self-worth, instead of leaning into all the recent WLW romance (I love yuri, for the record!)
That alone sets it apart, but it’s the relationships and personal struggles that really make it shine.
Sienna, the titular Harmonia Lux, is a protagonist with real depth.
She’s not your perfect, idealized magical girl—she’s messy, insecure, and weighed down by the scars (both literal and emotional) of surviving an apocalyptic event. But she's a good-natured person at the end, with a lot of heart. Her struggles with body image and self-doubt make her incredibly relatable, and watching her learn to see her own worth is one of the most rewarding parts of the story.
The relationships are where this story really hits its stride. Sienna’s friendship with Albert, her childhood best friend, feels so natural and real. It’s rare to see a truly platonic heterosexual male-female friendship presented like this, especially in fandoms that overlap Stray Cat Strut and Magical Girl Gunslinger, and it’s refreshing that the story doesn’t try to force a romantic angle. Then there’s her relationship with Dark Princess Eris, her long-lost sister and rival.
Sienna's dynamic is electric—equal parts bitter irritation and aching vulnerability as they try to navigate and discover their shared past. As the story progresses, more and more details about their parents' history has been revealed, as well as the relationships this story has with the author's other piece —Technomancer.
The family situation is messy, but in a way that feels true to life.
The fight scenes are solid—plenty of spectacle, but with enough focus on the emotional stakes to keep them

To note: Considering that I've heard that this is a sequel story, my review could perhaps be taken with a small grain of salt, since I never read the first one. But in any case, onto the the review!
Style: This is very much a 4.5/5 for me, the use of those special page breakers were very creative, and the prose is easy to digest in my opinion, making the pretty big chapters by Royal Road standards (from what I see) not a slog to read. No complaints here!
Story: A solid 4/5, no major complaints apart. Decent pacing from what I've read so far, cute characters, interesting world. And even though I haven't read the pilot, again things are easy to understand regardless!
Grammar: No complaints here, very solid on my end. I'm no grammar expert though, so there may be mistakes, but it shouldn't take away from the reading experience unless you're very nitpicky with it.
Character: Just from the art alone the characters are cute, and the way the author writes them makes them feel very much alive for me. While they're introduced rather quickly from what I see, they're still quite fun to read as they interact with each other.
Overall: Very good story, love the way the author has written it so far, and I can definitely see why people can like it. Harmonia Lux is very much a story for those that like magical girls, combat schools, and a world filled with apocalypses and systems (judging by synopsis and tags), go ahead and check it out if you haven't!

An excellent magical girl story that shines just as brightly as the anime you grew up with. Harmonia Lux is dark and at times gruesome, but it's heart shines with hope and friendship.
Technically, the story is very satisfying. The pacing, characters, and story are all A+. If you are a fan of magical girl stories, this will delight you.

MGHL is a bit tricky for me to review because it's not exactly to my tastes in terms of genre.  It's also technically the second book in the series, and that informs a lot of its narrative.  Still, I'm here and willing to make a go of it, so let's kick things off.
Style:  MGHL is a sequel, and it shows.  There's a lot of world building here, and whenever I'm presented with a group, organization or term, I know it's not just filler.  Stuff has gone down.  There's a rich history to the characters and the setting, and I know that if I asked someone who a particular person is, I'd probably get a 2-page answer.  I like that.  More importantly, I respect it.  There aren't any gimmicks - and I wouldn't say any of the writing is the first of its kind - but you can tell a lot of time has gone into the novel, and for me, that's enough to give it a five.
Story:  pacing wise, I think it's okay.  Like I said, this is technically the second book in the series, so we open up with the usual trope of refamiliarizing the reader with everything that's happened so far.  For first time readers, it's a bit rough, even if you skip the pilot / book 0 as is offered in the foreword.  There's also a bit of 'there's that antagonist from book 1!' going on in the next couple chapters.  With that being said, once you get over the initial hump, it's all more or less fine.  We get our introduction to Lux, our protagonist; we learn about the setting and her motivation, and we even get some low-level, street-scale antagonists to drive the drama.  Could we have focused more on the new story and less on the old one?  Yes.  Is it a problem?  Well, it depends on how much you've read.  I bet long time readers got a kick out of all the references.  For me, it's more a case of 'is this going to be on the test?'  It wasn't bad, but it was hard to determine the relevancy of several asides to the upcoming story.  Personally, I think it's a matter of taste.
Grammar:  Now, I always preface this score with the wa
