This story is a nice little story, but it feels like more of a test than anything. I feel it needs a little bit more to it, but I enjoyed it for the ~15 min read.
There weren't any grammar mistakes that I saw.
I hope for more stories like this that just explore ideas of the author. From the transportation of the mermaid to the current state, this short story is vague and causes us to assume a number of things to become grounded in the piece - only to upend it. This is about trust and betrayal, but the piece is rough and while it is not bad, it is not exactly the easiest read. Clarifying the state of the characters, giving concrete details and not waiting until the end of the piece to reveal key information would all be good ideas to improve this piece.
