Le Cadeau de Strahd

Description
“Mon amour.” The red of Strahd’s eyes drilled into Valentina’s, seeming to gain a faint luminosity. The wash of warmth was like slipping into a soothing bath. Valentina felt all the muscles in her neck and shoulders slump in relaxation. “Trust me,” he breathed.
All of her anxieties fled. No more cold water, only warm, syrupy trickles down her spine. The plan was working. Of course, it was. There was no reason to be upset at all. Right now, she was Irénée meeting her lover, and all she had to do was trust him. Trust him, and gain unimaginable riches. One hand gently took hold of Valentina’s chin, tilting her head back. His face dipped, past hers, his breath fanning across the skin of her neck. There was the barest, gentlest brush of lips against the sensitive skin. Then, two points of sharp pain like needles sliding into her flesh.
Reflexively, Valentina flinched, but found herself unable to escape the iron grip on her chin and at her lower back. She could feel blood welling up, sucked away by warm lips and tongue. The pain went from behind Valentina’s eyes all the way down to her ribcage, as if a central nerve beneath her skin had been dipped in oil and suddenly touched to a flame.

- Mr_moggRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a great idea for a novel. The dialogue is natural and witty, The characters are dynamic and engaging. It's an easy read too, the author flows smoothly between character moments and action scenes. Even if your familiar with the module highly recommend for any D&D fans or fans of fantasy adventures in general.
- noctRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Engaging characters, exquisite descriptions, and flowing prose make this novel a standout amongst DnD-based novels. Truly a cut above, this novel records the trials and triumphs of a rag-tag bunch of adventurers drawn together by their mutual hatred of evil vampire overlords, but reimagined for a unique French setting.
For me, the highlight is both how well this novel is written, and how skillfully the author converts the campaign into a novel. The author spares no detail in describing the characters or world, which immerses you in the story in a way many DnD-based novels fail. The characters feel fully immersed in and a part of this world. It's easy to forget this is a campaign-based novel at all, which is a huge accomplishment imo.
Flawless grammar, excellent execution. If you're looking for the gold standard of what a DnD campaign novel can be, you've found it.
