Description

In the mystic desert wastes, an enigmatic burglar named Íbolín languishes in prison. Behind bars, he meets a mysterious magician named Nedraj who has traveled over sea and sand with a sizeable mercenary company from the far north, the Merchant Republic of Rajar. They have come secretly, chasing whispers of a glorious artifact. A relic believed to be in the forbidden treasury of the Sultan himself. A makeshift alliance is formed between the two in an attempt to retrieve it -- should it truly exist.

But as they journey deeper into the heart of the desert, they realize that the artifact they seek may be more than just a simple relic & the lines between reality and mythology are tested. The Flamestar beats upon their backs as they navigate the mirages of day and brave the wraiths of night. They must move quickly. The dogs of the Venrex are sniffing out their trail, and all the while, the moon rises higher in the sky... something ancient and powerful is watching their every move, waiting for its chance to strike. Will they succeed in their quest, or will they succumb to the creeping darkness?

Kingdom of Eternal Moonlight is a complex, over the top, complete fantasy mythology with horror elements, inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark, Aladdin, The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Castlevania. It is a fantasy history whose backstory is written inspired by the Historian Fernand Braudel, who wrotethe Mediterranean. It isn’t shy about its several tropes, but to the faithful, they will give way to satisfying sophistication by the heart of the narrative.

Notes: This is my first draft; I am sure there are several errors I have overlooked, they will be corrected. About AI-Assistance: I do use AI to help correct my work and eliminate redundancy in my choice of words and fix (obviously) my grammar, asking it to help me rephrase things at times. I do not simply copy and paste. There may be runoff, but these are my words and my story. I also use AI to createconcept artto help enhance the understanding of the story at this time and to keep me motivated. I am an artist and will create original images like those seen in the footnotes when I finish the work and can dedicate time to the process. Otherwise, I create and design all my own cover art. I did not create the chapter headers, but I cut them together, sized them, and juxtaposed several. They are licensed for my use. I hope you enjoy Kingdom of Eternal Moonlight as much as I enjoy making it; thanks for giving it a chance.   - K.G. Rankin

This is great debut! I am impressed with the author's style and overall storyline. The story is full of beautiful imagery, and I honestly found myself rereading certain paragraphs just to enjoy their beauty again. The artwork at the end of each chapter adds depth as well.
Now, I admit that the first time I sat down to read this I read it one chapter at a time with several days in between each reading. I found myself a little confused with the back and forth at first, but I reread everything in one sitting a second time and it was much more fluid. The story doesn't drag and moves ata good pace.
As for the characters, I love Íbolín. He has a lot of mystery and intrigue surrounding his character and is shaping up to be pretty epic. I also really like Valora. I'm interested to see how her history plays out with Íbolín and the upcoming chapters. I found myself rooting for characters and being ticked off with other characters, which is a sign of excellent writing. Anytime an author can get you to feel strong emotions towards characters you know it's going to be a worthy read. I also really enjoy the foreshadowing and mysterious snippets that are sprinkled throughout the story so far.  I am eagerly awaiting the next chapters! I know there are small inconsistencies and minor mistakes, but they aren't distracting, and the author even tells us at the end of chapters this is a work in progress. This one is worth your time for sure.

It pulled me in immediately. The settings are vivid and the characters intriguing. It's not often that I find a piece of fiction that wholly captures my imagination. Kingdom of Eternal Moonlight has done it. Hats off to KG Rankin. I recommend reading this mythological mind-bender for fun and escape. I hope you love it as much as I have.

I truly enjoyed this book and how I can imagine myself in the book. I love how the maps are detailed and can help me visualize as to where the story is at. I think anyone who will read this will be happy that they did! I’m looking forward to more of the stories and the adventure behind them :)

there is a lot going on in the story but I thin overall its a good ride. I appreciate and enjoy the decision to put middle eastern things. I enjoy reading this and look forward to where it will go. I think the author thinks a lot about the story but could work on how to tell the story to someone who doesnt know all of the concepts the author is thinking about when writing the story. the ai assisted content doesnt bother me. I appreciate the pictures they help make the story more simple to understand. before when I was a lurker the story was hard to keep up with because of the skipping in time, I agree with the other review. I think it is a good idea to split up the timelines to volumes to help it become easier to follow. I think that it is really deep and gets better after the world building settles down. On that, I think that the world is interesting and I appreciate the time that the author took to make the characters and the races. the story feels also very dark and unsettling at times and I like that. keep it up kg rankins good job
