Integrated Universe - A LitRPG Adventure
Community Rating
Description
Earth has been chosen to join the Integrated Universe, and all diseases have been cured and the aging process has been halted, thus eliminating all "natural" causes of death. The only problem: terrible monsters now inhabit the planet alongside mankind looking to make a meal out of all the disease-free humans.
A Fantasy LitRPG series full of monsters, loot, leveling up, civilization building, dungeon diving, and a personal enhancement system that grants anyone near immortality if they can survive all the monsters . . . and each other.Jeremiah was minding his own business, doing a little recreational breaking & entering at a secluded mountain compound, when Earth was transitioned into the Integrated Universe. The first thing he faced after waking was a monster of terrible power, intent on destroying all native species in its new domain. Somehow, he managed to survive certain death, and in the process became the first person on Earth to achieve Elite status and gain the use of an Elite Trainer. Together, Jeremiah and his new Trainer will try to conquer the world, literally, because it's the only way he will survive. As a hyper intelligent mouse once said, Jeremiah is going to take over the world, or die trying. The Integrated Universe is a LitRPG / GameLit adventure full of monsters, loot, dungeons, leveling up, and city / civilization building. Oh, and the main character is a bad ass (he doesn't like to use the term OP because it makes the other mortals feel bad).>>> The first three story arcs (also known as books 1, 2, and 3) have been published on Amazon and Audible. - Isa BayfieldRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like this story very much. I think the angle the author took is not everyday and I have been entertained very well. The characters are interesting and well-done. How our main character got to level 10 by accidently drowning the lionape was quite funny, and his trainer is one of a kind for sure. And, so I suspect, holds a very interesting backstory of which we only caught glimpses so far. The story flows nicely, never a dull moment. Looking forward where the plot is going.
- OVDCRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is pretty good. Mostly, on RR, I stick to the tried and true classics, as not much stuff that gets onto RS is much good. Sure, there are some exceptions, like one author who's really good but unpopular because of genre, and a few good RS stories, but that's inevitable. Out of the newgen stories (from the last 3 months), only 4 are good. This is one of them. What makes it good? The characters are built well. It doesn't deviate from the tried and true formula at all, basically. And it's the formula for a reason. It's good, not great, but a solid story that doesn't deviate from the forumula. It has the potential to become great. Become a classic of RR. One sugestion for improvement is to increase the pace, so motivation for the MC increases, and we can see more in each chapter, while skipping some insignificant details.
- s44Royal Road★★★★ 4.0The little things are handled nicely in this story, which is why its main downside is such a bummer: the main character is a not-particularly-unique or -interesting guy who, when the System appears, ends up stumbling into a huge lead on the competition to become King of the newly-Integrated Earth. He has an ambitious manager assigned to him, who it looks like will end up holding MC's otherwise rather unmotivated hand all the way to winning the contest (though, of course, in a nicer way than the manager would suggest).
Chapter 10 has an interlude with an older Japanese businessman who, unlike the MC, actually earns his initial advancement. This unfortunately really makes you wonder why the MC isn't more like him and less... formless and undirected. Of course, authors keep popping out these unthreatening everyman protags, so someone must like them. - Rex98765Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Note: an initial review only a few chapters in. So far so good we have likeable MC, likeable exposition character, glimpse of future foe/ally and some action. All in all a good start.
Personally I like a lone wolf against the world vs a settlement manager storyline but willing to keep reading to see where it goes. It has hints of system apocalypse which I loved. - moredreadRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Its an interesting story in a few respects. We all know the plot. System apocalypse. He gets an early advantage. He managed to kill a very strong monster through pure luck. Gets high level and a lot of system rewards for being 1st.
It then goes into settlement building. So far its good. But it feels like its missing something. No edge at all. Just a stoner who gets lucky. If you want some fun reading with little emotion behind it give it a try. - DreamsRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Nothing overwhelmingly bad, but not a lot of strengths either. Fairly standard system and set up with an MC that already lacks any agency/motivations. Hard to find anything that stands out when compared to 100 other similar stories on RR.
Author needs to add something unique/interesting to get a reader to want to read this story. - ElDaniRoyal Road★★ 2.0I've read (part of) the first book on KU and am mostly writing this, so I don't stumble upon this story again in the future.
Integrated Universe is a system apocalypse series that puts a significant part of its attention on the greater universe, or rather how the intergalactic society deals with newly integrated worlds like Earth. I've seen that split in focus done many times before and wasn't ever the biggest fan of the concept, but it can be fun if done well.
The one reason I'm not a big fan of this plot device is the difficulty in making the worldbuilding work. On the one side you have a vastly powerful and established intergalactic community, on the other side you have a few ragged humans who are just trying to not die.
That this is actually the best part of this story is both remarkable and sad. It's easy to explain why. When you have a protagonist that you are entirely indifferent to - because he's boring and seems to need a nanny along to hold his hand - then you won't have a ton of fun with the tale. While several other characters are in the range between okay and likeable, it's not to the point that I'd stick with the story just to get another glimpse of a side-character.
My rating of two stars may seem harsh, considering the technical quality of writing is actually fairly good and that the scale of the worldbuilding puts this a step above the average litrpg apocalypse novel. Keep in mind, this isn't a webnovel but a published book. Once that happened, the Integrated Universe series stopped competing with other webnovels, fanfiction or translated light novels and my rating reflects that. When compared to other Kindle Unlimited works it doesn't hold a candle against the standouts. Since I stopped reading before even finishing the (first) book, I can hardly call it above average either. - DBoyBluesRoyal Road★ 0.5We've got just enough story for me to feel comfortable writing a review, so this story definitely has a plot hook, a goal, sub goal and multiple characters shaping up to be interesting.
Overall, I hope this can continue and end up a favorite of mine. Please keep up the good work Author, I look forward to more fun to come.
