Description
Marionys Ryland is notorious for breaking planets. Now, his undergrads might break him. Ryland is a Calamity - one of the living apocalypses born in the last war between realms. In his case, experimenting with dangerous rift magic shattered his body and scattered its pieces across the cosmos. Pieces that, when left alone, often turn into new Calamities. Armed with a thousand spell glyphs from a thousand worlds, Ryland is ready to stop more of his blood droplets from turning into mad demigods and more neurons from calling down cataclysmic meteor strikes. To do so, he'll need to return to his academy and recover his old research, and maybe teach a few oddball students along the way. But first, he has to pass an entrance trial gone haywire, stop Fate from bullying his pupils, and make sure Calamity-worshipping cults don't ruin his club activities. Surely, a field trip to a different universe can't be that objectionable? Right?

- Nowhere OmenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0When I read OP fiction, what really matters is the characters.
The main character, Ryland, is a lot of fun. Viren is a fantastic combination of innocence, heroic aspiration, and good nature. And there's a well written cast of spring characters in still learning to love.
I also enjoy this book's genre awareness and breaking of conventions. Because the point of being overwhelmingly powerful is to ignore those things.
Does the book have a plot? Well... The MC has a goal and every one else also has their motives. The fun is what happens along the way, like a slice-of-life story with explosive magical fighting. I can't really call fighting, "conflict" in a proper OP story, though presumably the supporting cast can get hurt. Hopefully nobody will dislocate their jaws from excessive gaping. - WunycoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fun story with the best of the "insanely OP mage" tropes. Here are some more words to get to the 50 word requirement. - theoldestdreamRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have not written many reviews but i liked this story a lot so i wanted to give it a shot, dont get your hopes too high about the coherence of this review
in general i liked the story a lot i like both the power sistem and how the mc uses his powers and knowledge, i am currectly reading it on patreon and dont want to spoil anything i will just say that i am liking the direction the story is going
The writing has this really unique voice that feels both epic and weirdly cozy at the same time. The author has a real talent for blending humour into moments that could easily have been just another generic fantasy scene, and it never feels forced either, it was already very clear in "sacrifice mage" but this genre helps to boost this even more.
Stylistically it just works, and I found myself reading way longer than I intended to most nights, as you can guess i am reading this novel once again this night instead of sleeping.
Story wise, the premise hooked me from the very first chapter and just kept building from there. It's the kind of story where every little detail feels deliberate, the scale is vast from the beginning but our prospective exand over time making the vast powers more comprehensible over time.
Where the novel really shines though is the characters as i have come to expect from GeorgieD, the pinnacle preacher himself. They feel genuinely alive in a way that's hard to put into words. You'll find yourself caring about people you didn't even expect to care about, sometimes within the same chapter in which they were introduced. The dynamic between the main characters in particular is just a joy to read and it has the clear build up of this genre.
In conclusion I highly recommend giving this one a shot if your looking for something fresh and captivating. - tinySnekRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like this one so far. The main hero is strong but considerate and it's fun. It has not that many chapters yet but I want to keep reading. This has kind of OP main char and that's what is cool. The plot is also ok and the story has humorous side.
- SquimbRoyal Road★★★ 2.5It's a decent story, I love the OP mc genre... But there are a few problems I have with this story.
1 The MC has stated curiosity about several things, shown the power to almost instantly get answers to said questions but does nothing.
2 I'm not sure why this is so common in the op mc genre but I personally don't like it. Staying with the very first person they meet. I know stories like this need another prospective to show just how op the MC is but the mc has clearly stated goals that are clearly delayed by the other person with possibly ruinous consequences.
3 Saying they are avoiding using their significant power to avoid being inconvenienced just to immediately do something way more inconvenient because it's "interesting". - MonusRoyal Road★★ 2.0Since naming other fictions is a reason for having a review removed, I won't naming names but this story is heavy, very heavily by a popular OP MC story on this side. After 12 chapters I cannot help but notice and state as much. The general plot beats are thus far almost identical, framed a little different but everything event once you notice the pattern becomes predictable.
This is a huge disappointment to me and consequently a waste of my time. Why would I read something that has nothing new to give?
The writing is decent, and I guess this is a good alternative if you haven't read the other story but if you have and don't care about repeat experiences... Well, you most likely won't be very entertained.
