Description

Book one:Following a catastrophic injury and treatment on an alien medical station, Henry Martinez finds himself re-assigned from the Human Navy to the trauma center he had been treated at a year earlier. He now must to adjust to the realities of life when living as the only human amongst millions of aliens. Along the way, he must navigate hostile aliens, a blossoming romance, the fickle politics of the galactic union, and the ghosts of his past.Book Two:

Henry Martinez has done a decent job of adjusting to life as the only Human amidst millions of aliens; such a wonderful job he has began to consider Draun more of his home than he did the ruins of Los Angelas year earlier.

But life is not filled with fair winds, and following seas. His mentor has taken more of a liking to him than she likely should, who he has to try and let down gently enough to avoid disaster.

Ontop of that issue Martinez has to do something he never once thought he would—-meet the parents of his alien girlfriend.

Lysa’s mother Nelya, is kind, caring and has the patience of a saint. Sure she seems a bit to eager to for Martinez and Lysa to have kids, but what Mother does not want to be a grandmother.

Lysa’s father, Kyroll is a whole other story. He is a rough and trouble former special forces member, who hates anyone not Aviex—to include Martinez.

Hopefully Martinez can manage to convince Kyroll to move past the dark past that plagues both him and the Aviex species as a whole for the sake of his daughters happiness.

A bunch of idiots try to run a multi-species space hospital without killing each other (accidentally or intentionally), while making a lot of comically bad assumptions along the way from not understanding each other's species, non-verbal cues, or cultures. An excellent portrayal of how aliens don't have to be eldritch horrors to drive you crazy or be incomprehensible at times. Very binge-worthy.

I love this story to bits. The characters are detailed and you care about them, the world feels alive and well thought out, and you feel as though you're witnessing the events through the eyes of the protagonist. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the second, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with a love for Sci-Fi.

For anyone who will look at this review and spare themselves to look at the ramblings of a mad man. I highly recommend anyone please take a few hours of your day and give this story a read. It is a fantastic story that immediately captured my attention and need to read right away.
To put my ramblings into order I would like to praise the story overall. A fish out of water story can be great when you come across it, but the setting itself immediately catches my attention. Being the only human in a space station surrounded by many unknown and unique alien races is already a interesting idea. The author does put the right amount of detail to the fact that humans are weird creatures, and so are many beings out there. Its fun watching as these things clash together and it leads to some great interactions with the supporting cast.
The support cast in this story is great. Every character brought into the story serves a purpose, and I can say with the way they are written I love every character that is around our main character. I adore one so much I was mildly disappointed by the fact she was the main love interest. She was so well written, such a interesting character, I was eagerly reading more for their relationship to bloom into something more. Shiksie is the best girl and she still deserves all of the love.
I would highly recommend everyone please stop and take the time to read through this story. It is great and I adore it to the point I had consumed most of it, in one sitting.  I went from adoring the story, to loving it with each read of the story.  With a chapter or two dedicated to some of the support character point of view in key moments of the story, it makes loving these people even easier.

Very much enjoy reading this series. The details of the different aliens really brings the reader into the lives and everyday events of the characters. There were certainly times that I did not want to put the reading down, probably stayed up too late a few times. Watching the lone human navigate through an entirely different place with vastly different expectations is a fun ride.

I find each book of the author's (including this series) sets a different voice from each title, this one, a man in the military is requested to work in a trauma unit. He adapts, makes friends and allies, navigates the best he can for a human in uncertain territory. Martinez is a good person, and realistic, even with the wide array of alien creatures. They breathe, and in the best way feel humanoid as a conscious being without being a human. One thing he does really well, each main charachter throught his books makes the lead charachter different, not a rehashed with a different name in a different story. A new charachter and personality, while at the same time small familiarities of the military/union and universe. He's a really talented author, with great charachters and stories, you won't be disappointed. I came for the hot cow farm girl, (not in this story, Golden Fields) and stayed and discovered so much more.
    Thank you.

I started reading this story back on reddit and have been enjoying it immensely the whole time. Doc Martinez reminds me of one of my own Corpsmen from way back in the day, and the depiction of PTSD hits just close enough to home that if you haven't experienced that condition you'll get an idea of what that living hell is like, and if you have... well, you'll remember it here to be sure. Our heroine is Lysa, a member of a galactically reviled species of blood drinking aliens. Which is really my only gripe with the series, the premise of a galaxy of carnivores and omnivores drawing the line at drinking blood in addition to eating normally seems a bit off to me. Though I suspect that some of it's propaganda to make all the bad things that happened to them more palatable in services of dark forces in the background.
Any way, this is well worth your time, and Potato's upcoming work looks to be just as good!

I have been reading along and following this story for a while just on a different platform than this one, so I might as well review it on this one. One thing I really like is how all of the characters have their own personalities and habits for their day to day life. There are some spelling mistakes that are noticeable to a person paying way to much attention, from time to time but that is to be expected from a story written by one person when the story is hosted and posted on the internet. In terms of the  story it is nice how the main characters have a life which is progressing with some problems to take care of, that make it look realistically like the human experience. The author themselves have a really nice writing stlye which is unique to them. So in conclusion this story is a fantastic work of art on the internet run by one person on multiple platforms.
P.s the amount of words you need on a review are a lot more than I thought it would require. Also I just barely made this account after writing a review and relising I couldn't without one.

I'm not a person who reads much more than technical manuals and briefs in my free time, tis the nature of cybersecurity college students. And I haven't read for fun since freshman year of high school. But this book really stole my attention. The characters are fairly well written, the story is excellent, and it is written in a way that makes me want to keep coming back. While the criticisms about grammar from others is completely fair, the printed version, which I bought, fixes most of them, and is really a much more polished piece, making this an excellent story!

Really liked the world building and setting. Something about tons of species all together in the city and this human is just doing his thing while going though his own trauma is enjoyable to read and a lot of it hits home.
All the characters feel like they have their own lives outside of the mc and it would be cool to see some side stories on them.

I both relate to the story heavily, love the content but hate the grammar. mistakes and feel the writing feels awkward more often than not.  I’d love to read a revised version but there are too many technical errors for me to enjoy this version.  Great concept with mediocre writing and huge potential.  Keep it up and hope you revise!
