Description
A Note from William:
This book takes place between the events of the Khasmir Campaign and the Tournament of Kings. It had all been written out ages ago. Unfortunately, I lost the documentation during the tournament and was unable to find it before I left. If Steward Benarus had not been kind enough to send the document after me via Wrynncurth, this book should never have been published.
No doubt Jehair will be happy to get her due credit at last, dubious though it might be.
In fact, with the mess in the Iron Kingdom and the Dream World, very little of what happened was remembered. Helped not in the least because the events were a miserable stalemate. I would also thank Princess Ansara and others for their part in this. A full accounting of these events would have been impossible without their context.
The section dedicated to Ansara was written by her and is comparatively. I have included it at her request since it provides a real insight into the situation.
However, I admit I have an ulterior motive.
Certain rather boring sections of this book detail an overall strategy. One devised by House Gabriel. One which, once enacted, would require years to take full effect. For obvious reasons, I chose to delay the details for as long as possible.
In any case, I am pleased to rectify my former mistake.
In conclusion, no attempt has been made to adapt Lamech's writings of his history. I have read some of them; they are as grim as the worst of my stories. The only difference is that there is no hero in them. Save perhaps Lamech himself in the sense that some of his victims more or less deserved it.
Such a story is not worth writing, and those who are interested in a full-scale adaptation shall not get it from me.

- C. Sebastian NuttRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have to recommend this story, it really stands out here on Royal Road. Give this work a shot. This story has culture to it, and that is a component that I don't see too often. You won't regret it.
Style: The author writes with a style that indulges in the conventions and attraction of dialog. The concentration on using complex sentence structures along with simple structured modes lends a good appetite to the language, making it crunch and efficient. This all lends to make this story incredibly strong and evocative.
Story: This is where the writing shines its brightest. Throughout the portions I have read, the world immediatly lept out as the chief character, a great move. The motivations seem both realistic and believable, which is a huge thing for a story this evidently complex.
Character: There are a lot of people to follow here, but they all differentiated themselves quite quickly. As I said before, the characters are believable, and I believe that their motivations are legitimate and well envoked.
You can really feel the effort in this story. Highly recommend. I read a lot of stories on this cite, and I have to say that this is up there with the higher tier. - PawnsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5From the art style to the chapters to the pacing, I would say this work is the most "unique" by far. It really stands as its own thing, which is a good thing in a site like Royal Road.
Style: 4/5
It was hard to get used to some of the heavy dialogues that can get you lost in the story, to the point you don't know who is talking to who, and sometimes they feel like talking for the sake of talking without advancing the plot or giving the characters any depth, but it doesn't happen to the point of making you stop to reread the parts.
Story: 4.5/5
The story is interesting enough to keep you reading and waiting for the next chapter with a good pacing and well-detailed world-building. With the characters having a good reason for their actions.
Grammer: 5/5
The author definitely knows what he is doing, probably due to this being a part of a series and having past experience.
Characters: 4/5
There is a lot of characters who feel interesting and keeping track of them may seem tedious, but later on after some chapters they start to build themselves just enough for the reader to know them from their way of speaking.
Overall I don't think I have given this work what it deserves since it was made as a series and a lot of things may be related to past works, but it sure was made with the intent of telling a good story, and even tho I didn't read much I would recommend it. - Zhuixing LuochenRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5From the very beginning, it's clear that the author has put quite a lot of work into developing this fantasy world and its characters. I was impressed by the sheer number of characters, systems, lands, and events-- and how all of them worked well together to create a world that was complex and multi-layered in a way that really feels like it could be a real place.
The style can be a little difficult to parse sometimes, a bit heavy on the dialogue and with frequent paragraph breaks within a single section of dialogue that can make it hard to tell who's speaking at times, and I wonder if there's sometimes more exposition delivered through dialogue than is needed for the current point in the story, but it's hardly a deal-breaker. There are some minor grammatical errors here and there, but nothing major.
The story moves along at a good pace, and is interesting to read. The intricate worldbuilding is certainly a plus here-- it creates a good framework for the characters to act within, and provides conflict and tension. The characters themselves are all varied and distinct, with well-rounded personalities and individual viewpoints that inform their actions. I look forward to seeing how they will grow and develop throughout the story.
As this is a part of a series, and I haven't read the preceeding installments, I feel like I was a little lost at times on who and what and where everything was-- so I would suggest that readers go back and start at the beginning, as it may make things more impactful and easier to parse in this volume.
Regardless, the world and its characters are still fascinating, and the author does a very good job at building them up to be believable, realistic, and engaging. - Yvan UngRoyal Road★★★ 2.5It seems like chapters are too long; Book 1 in particular could be split into several chapters. As such, it made it difficult for me to digest what was happening, and it made me feel like so many things are happening at once.
However, what bits I managed to glean made me feel like I was plunged into an intricate world, and it might have had some grasp of what governance.would feel like in a fantasy world.
