Description

I wasn’t the strongest, or the smartest, or the craftiest. I had no natural talent, no real advantages and the only Title I could lay claim to was ignorance, but the last was true for everyone. I wasn’t born in a place full of energy, just little old Earth. And I certainly wasn't prepared for this.

While we lived our lives, the universe bled. The System waged war eternal against the Errant and their conflict consumed all. There was more to it than just that, of course, but the important part was that we were now involved.

It shouldn’t have mattered. It didn’t at first. But then the bodies piled up, they never stopped doing that. We got sick of it. That feeling turned into a tale of war, a tale of secret histories, a tale of crazy folks and cosmic entities – I still haven’t pieced it all together. It was brutal, it had its moments, and honestly? I had quite a bit of fun. Then again, maybe I was a little biased.

So how did a bunch of nobodies, from nowhere, and starting from nothing end up here, about to make a difference?

It all began with a midnight cigarette, the end of the world and a ridiculously long walk…

First and foremost futur reader, you'll need patience for this novel. I promise everything make sense in the end and the worldbuilding is really great. But you gonna work for it. Indeed, at the begining the writting is purposefuly confusing and key parts needed to make sens are missing. Just like for the characters suddendly thrown in this situation.
I really recommend reading this story but you'll need a good grasp on english as well as keeping in mind that the MC is a very unreliable narrator. And not alway likeable either.
But as a result the characterization is really well done, with a really disctinct cast of colorful characters and true developpement. The system is original enough while keeping both enough mystery and familiarity to be engaging.
Until now the story is mainly geared toward survival, but we are seeing glimpses of semi kingdombulding as of late.
Personally I'm hooked, but it's definitely not for everyone.
