Description

Angelus wants nothing more than to enjoy his laid-back lifestyle on Portsmouth island - the home to any mutants unwilling to live amongst the humans of Gleodem that once subjugated them. Just when he thought having his girlfriend Nyx move in or not was the biggest decision he had to face,  a near-death experience causes a latent ability to manifest - the power to control life itself.

To avoid drawing the attention and ire of Ivy - the only mutant to wield this power and current absolute ruler of the mutant-sector - Angelus decides to keep his new abilities hidden.

However, he is soon overwhelmed and in much need of guidance, something he has in common with Kismet, a newly arrived telepath. Together, they set out on a journey of self-discovery and a quest for answers.

I need to preface by saying that QueenofGremlins is the best character-writer I've ever had the pleasure of meeting online (or irl for that matter).
The characters in QoGs worlds are relatable, flawed, and yet often endowed with abilities that go beyond the scope of mortal possibility.
Thus it is with Glass Pomegranate.
    Story:
This story follows several different mutants living together in a world hostile to their very existence. Appropriately, each of them harbors a sense of anger at this prejudice, but the characters don't display a unidimensional worldview. Quite the contrary in fact. They have their own problems which mainly center around their relationships in the early chapters (you could almost call this a slice-of-life story) while slowly working towards a larger overbearing plot.
    Grammar:
No issues. This author is someone you can count on for quality. On Royal Road, that distinction means something.
    Style:
Short, laconic sentences that are no less punchy in spite of their brevity. QofG is a master of sparse descriptions that give the reader just enough to get a sense of place/time (this is a modern setting, filled with bars, coffee shops etc.) but which all have distinct characteristics that make them unique. Whether its Angel's lavender-scented pillows, or the raucous of Cassie's bar, each chapter provides a distinct feast for the senses.
    Character
The strongest element of the story which all constituent parts come together to highlight. Each mutant is believable in their own ways. There's many povs each elaborating on a different kind of delinquent archetype that you can't help but love. Personally, Nyx's chapters had me the most interested. Sassy, determined, and yet also intensely vulnerable, she is a character written with clear care and attention to detail. Again, QoGs style allows us to get just enough insights into her mind to keep us hooked and rearing to see more. There are, it must be said, a lot of different perspective characters (almost on the
