Description

Ever wanted to build an underground empire?

Summoned to a new world where elemental magic isn’t supposed to exist, Carmack has a problem. Or rather, an opportunity. First, the System breaks—thanks to his geomancy. Second, he finds himself below ground, surrounded by desperate refugees searching for a new home. The thing is, that’s exactly where he wants to be. A denizen of the underground, Carmack is about to teach this new world that the greatest riches are beneath their feet.

The problem is, they are hardly alone down there.

None of that will deter Carmack, though. If there’s something a geomancer is good at, it’s bending earth and building.

What to expect?

So far I really like this story, and I'm excited to see where it'll go. The MC acts in logical ways and there is a solid reasoning to follow behind each of his actions, which I really appreciate. The snippets of other perspectives have me very curious as to what conflicts will be caused and how the MC will resolve them. The chapters are a good length and I've found myself getting invested in the world and characters in just these few chapters.

Lovely story here, I love the whole geomancy thing, because earth magic is so overlooked in many stories, and I am very interested in what the mc is planning with his powers and experience. I think it would be great if you did some flashback chapters from before this whole thing. From both the mc's perspective and the other people from this cities perspective. Maybe explain how what happened to the outside world, well, ya know. Happened?

I found this story right when I had a sudden craving for earth mage main characters and boy am I satiated !
The story is pretty solid(that wasn't on purpose but now it's),except for the quite simple political plot that didn't really vibe with me. Cormack our MC was a lord on the verge of defeat after painstakingly working to return his clan to prominence and that does show up in his actions on this new world, already working on dozens of plans on how to properly turn what is now barely a bunker into a proper city of it's own right.
The Earth magic, which was the main attractive to me, is all I could have asked for, earth shaping, seismic vibrations as a form of detection, stone spears and all else, truly exactly what I was craving for.
Tho it's no perfect story and I would like to use this space to make some suggestion and that is to add marks to when the PoV changes, more than once or twice I have got confuse cause the PoV changed from one paragraph to the next, don't even need anything fancy just a line(like ------- or ______) would be enough. It's nothing too big but it does make a ton of difference.
Anyway, thanks for writing and keep up the great work !

I've enjoyed the story thus far, only 26 chapters have been released at the time of me making this review, and usually I would say I'm eager for more chapters to be released.
And I am, mostly. I hope the story continues to be fun and good as more chapters come, but the last two chapters, 25 and 26, make me feel very conflicted for the future of the story.
One of the characters had a very strange and sudden personality shift, and at times it feels like the author is setting her up for a troupe I frankly hate and find disgusting and misguided.
I'm not saying that the author most definitely is setting up the character to go down this route, but I do fear that they are.
I'm talking about the idea of a jaded lesbian who hates men being wooed or finding herself flushing over the heros big strong muscles and power and radiating testosterone, and coming to the realization that men are hot and great and she's now converted to being straight. And I truly hope that's not what's being hinted at.
Firstly, it's completely illogical. You can't hate yourself into finding another gender attractive if you weren't before. People cannot simply choose to be attracted to certain genders or people as it pleases them.
Secondly, it would show a complete lack of understanding of how the human brain works. The idea that a woman would hate men so much she would turn into a lesbian is so stupid and idiotic I struggle to explain how.
Women are not lesser humans controlled by their hormones and emotions, and the idea of a singular man 'converting' a man hating lesbian into a straight women is an example of such flawed thinking. Of believing that women are the lesser, weaker half of the human race who need men to function and exist.
Just a hint of that idea, that the author might think like that, disgusts me beyond words. But just because one or two chapters might have given the wrong impression doesn't mean I'm willing to dismiss this story outright.
Outside of the worrying idea that the author m

I liked the plot and theme, but the stupidity of the villains ruined the joy of this novel. The Fallen kingdom is at the brink of annihilation, and these idiots are trying to plot against the only people who keep them alive. This in itself wouldn't be the deal breaker for me, but the thing is, MC is not ruthless and has already given in on one of their baseless demands.

Overall this book seems to be well written, but it feels very boring and not my style.
My honest review is probably two or one stars, but I don't want to put such a negative review on a book where I only read 13 chapters.
From what I've read so far characters seem robotic, stiff, and fake even though the author tries to write them with emotion.
If you really like Kingdom building, geomancy, and pyromancy, you may enjoy this book far more than I did.

The beginning was good, but then the quality dropped due to few reasons. At first the character that was introduced seemed like a badass, someone powerfull willing to go to great lengths to get what he wants, he apparently was quite powerfull and had an army of golems, clearly to achieve something like this he had to be at least partially ruthless, cunning and smart especially after getting betrayed.
Instead after coming to this world he proceeded to show that he is not so smart like when he choose as commander of the soldiers(very important position in this situation) basing not on skill or experience but on assumptions and background, when he started chosing and everyone made their case why they should be chosen, and one of them said shyly that he's just a commoner I already knew he would be chosen for stupid reasons and turned out I was right.
Basically he chose him because he's a commoner and because he had a high rank, he didn't even think he could have gotten a high rank due to family connections and not his actual skills. It was a stupid decision especially as it was a matter of safety of many people and he based in on luck that he was somehow right.
Of course due to excessive plot armor visible from the beginning, it turned out to be a correct the decision and the young man just happend to be incredibly competent for no reason, even though someone with actual experience and achivements like the other 2 would be better suited for this role, not to mention this just shows people that achivements and ranks don't mean much you just have to appeal to the "hero" who of course is biased against nobility(very original).
Another problem is that some people are not treating this situation for what it is behaving like this was their life for the past 10 years and everything is normal, so of course some start plotting, making stupid demands and behaving in an immature way as if they are all that matters and the hero just goes with it because... reasons? For plot armor I

    Interesting concept, shallow execution.
The MC is transported to a different world (neither are Earth, which is great!) with an incompatible system. He ends up keeping his old skills, knowledge and spells, but as a level 1. Now struggling with his lower stats, he tries to build a city for himself and the people that summoned him.
Honestly a pretty cool concept, but unfortunately the execution falls somewhat on its face. We're told that the MC is held back by his low stats (untill he can level up again), but there's no practical explanation given. What can't he do now that he could do before? "less".
Characters are fairly one-dimensional, but the female characters are especially one-note. A sisterhood of priests are "stunningly beautiful", the formerly gruff (also beautiful of course) adventurer falls in love with the MC and her entire personality changes, a fresh recruit mistaken for a boy is noted to be actually very beautiful the moment MC notices she's a woman. Male characters are not much better, but at least they're not hampered by the fact that they have to be beautifull.
All in all, promising concept, but it could realy use some more time in the oven. Shallow characters, shallow magic system, shallow kingdom building. Ironic, from a story set underground.
