Description
Is it hard for a Game Creator to stand out? Isn't it just aboutcopyingmaking fun games?
Theo woke up in a world where monsters constantly invade the Earth and one of the most popular ways for humans to become strong enough to deal with the monsters is through"Games".
"Games"where players are transported to a virtual world and convert the strength, equipment and skills gained to the real world!
Theo's new identity in this world is as a Game Creator, the creator of these virtual worlds for Players to become stronger.
But the life of a Game Creator is hard, his value is measured based on how many Players play his games, and Theo is the worst Game Creator in the university.
Worried about the future, Theo looked for popular games in this world and realized that they were all extremely boring and tedious.
"To become more powerful, don't I just need to make good games? With so many good games in my memory, can't I just use these ideas to become the Greatest Game Creator?!"
With this in mind, the Greatest Game Creator emerged, scaring all other Game Creators and Players around the world.
Do humans need to be this weak physically and magically? My next CardGame will completely hook you.
Do humans need to train gun shooting and skill use? I'll introduce you to the concept of Hero Shooter.
Is our military command getting weak? Nothing better than a good RTS to train you to command an army of thousands.
"You weren't lazy about getting stronger, you just weren't having enough fun while getting stronger before I came along."- Theo Brooks, the Game Creating revolutionary.

Thank you NunuXD! Keep up the good work. - Dudeman10Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0While this review is during the release time of this story, I do have to say that this story has a very interesting premise. It is exactly as it is in the summary. Hover ever, even in the first few chapters you can see that NunuXD has put in quite a lot of thought behind the mechanics of how the world functions in this game. Some people may have to even the read the explanations twice due to how in depth they are!
To those who are yet to read this story, please do give it a try! If you are intrigued by the premise of the story, then you will not be disappointed. - GrimVibesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fantastic so far. Kind of a slow build up but it's honestly better that way.
The tension built between the MC and one of the minor antagonists, Evan, is intriguing but nothing new, was kind of hoping it'd go for a bit longer and would gain more tension, but I guess that's a minor villain (mob?) for you.
Characters other than the MC aren't too fleshed out but at this point it doesn't matter too much as of yet.
The plot itself is great and very unique. I'm wondering in which direction he's going to take his game creation. Will he be developing a pubg type game or possibly a soul series game?....
I'm also left wondering about his newfound stat gains, will this mean he's going to start fighting monsters once he's stronger?
Honestly, this kind of plot is new to me, I'm hoping the MC doesn't become too op too fast and focuses more on the aspect of making different games, his consumer's reactions towards his games, his consumer's interactions and conflicts with other players and how they grow physically and mentally off his games.
I'm assuming he'll probably have major corporations and guilds after him since he doesn't want anything to do with them, which is where I'm hoping his fans/ consumer's come into play. After all who needs a body guard or security when you have diehard fans (hopefully in the millions soon) that would willingly kill for him.
I can see a lot of promising qualities in this novel and can't wait for more of this. Please don't turn this gold into a typical op MC that can do anything and is perfect at every aspect in the world, it's unrealistic and quite frankly played out. I'm kind of sad I binged it all in only a few hours, I definitely need more! I 100% recommended this! Love your work! Keep it up!!! 💕 ❤️ 💯 - MachomachoteRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the very first chapter, Runestone hooks readers with a fresh premise and clever execution. What starts as a seemingly small project from a student quickly turns into a story of ambition, strategy, and competition in a world where video games are not just entertainment, but tools for personal growth.
One of the strongest aspects of the story is its pacing: it doesn’t linger on unnecessary explanations nor rush through important moments, allowing the reader to absorb details without feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, the game’s evolution within the story feels natural and well-structured, making even those who aren’t fans of card games interested in the mechanics and strategy behind Runestone.
The characters are also a big strength. Theo, with his calm confidence and strategic mindset, is an easy protagonist to follow and admire. His response to Evans in the cafeteria was a particularly satisfying moment, showing his growth and establishing that he’s not your typical antisocial genius, but someone who understands the value of success in a competitive environment. Natalie, on the other hand, provides the player’s perspective and helps convey the real impact of the game on those who discover it.
Another standout is how the sense of progression and competition is handled. Watching Natalie go from confusion to genuine excitement as she learns to play and improves her rank in Runestone is a joy to read. Her development feels authentic, and the way the game manages to captivate her for six hours without her even realizing it is a perfect nod to the addictive nature of great strategy games.
Runestone has all the elements of an engaging story: a solid premise, interesting characters, and well-executed development. If it keeps up this pace and expands its world, it could easily become a must-read for fans of competition and personal growth stories.
If there’s anything that could be improved, it would perhaps be the depth of descriptions in some key scenes. At times, the s - Santiago PetersonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I came to read this from a post in another of the writer's novels and i can't get enough.
I seriously love the satisfactory progression and the way the story is laid out to us. I can already see the MC becoming something like fromsoftware and releasing lots of banger games!!!
Seriously love the progression, really gets the dopamine going! - Shades98Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0New world, old problems, new ways to gain strength use fun for training instead of being boring.
So that is the premise for this whole book, build games, get stronger by making people stronger, but you've just been sent to a world that the game makers haven't understood the joy of how to use making a fun game be the basis for getting stronger.
I have enjoyed these chapters and can't wait till the next set of chapters and it is interesting to see where this book goes. - WizardKikiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is such a breath of fresh air. The premise of using games as a way to train and grow stronger isn’t something I’ve seen done quite like this before. What makes it even better is how much effort the author has clearly put into making the games feel real and engaging.
Read about a MC making games besides playing games is something I didnt knew I need lol.
The MC ok+. He’s not overpowered in the usual sense, but his intelligence, system and creativity make him very interesting to read. Watching him figure out how to solve problems and improve his games is just as entertaining as the action scenes of other novels. The side characters also add a lot to the story, especially when they react to the MC’s creations.
I also appreciate the worldbuilding. It’s not overly complicated, but it’s clear there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. The connection between magic and game development is really clever, and it adds an extra layer to the story.
If I had to describe this novel in one word, it would be “engaging.” From the characters to the games to the world itself, everything feels carefully crafted to keep you invested. I’ve enjoyed every chapter so far and can’t wait to see what the author has planned next. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into fantasy with a creative twist. - golldrumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading, but this story really surprised me in the best way. The concept of combining magic, game development and dungeons is unique, and the way it’s executed makes it feel fresh and exciting.
One thing that really stands out is how much thought the author has put into the mechanics of the games in the story. They feel detailed and believable, almost like you could play them yourself. It’s not just about the MC making games; it’s about how those games impact the world and the people around him. The interactions between the players and the MC’s creations add a lot of depth to the narrative.
The pacing has been steady, and there’s a good balance between explaining the world and keeping the story moving. The system isn’t overwhelming or overly complicated, which is a big plus for me. It supports the story without taking the spotlight, which is how I think systems should be used.
Overall, this has been a really enjoyable read. The mix of creativity, strategy, and fantasy makes it stand out from other novels I’ve read in this genre. If you like stories where the MC builds something meaningful while also changing the world, I’d highly recommend giving this one a try. I’m excited to see how it develops! - killiantruegamesRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Rating this fiction objectively is hard for me, so I won’t be doing an advanced review. Comparing this work to your works over on WebNovel is night and day. I was a fairly big fan of them, but they were the equivalent of junk food for me.
The grammar was poor, dialog was stilted, and the ideas didn’t seem all that thought out. As a result my enjoyment of them was as much because of their concept as it was because of their execution. In comparison, this story is much better paced, has a world and story that seems internally and logically consistent. This is a good story completely seperate from its concept and I’m looking forward to what it might become in the future.
Having said all this, I tend to judge Royal Road stories much more harshly than Webnovel. If you’d have come here with Marvel: Game Maker System I’d have likely given it 2.5 stars if I was feeling especially generous.
I’m giving this fic a 4.5 even though I think it is objectively more close to four stars. These are the main things keeping me from ranking them higher. There is a stiltedness to the writing that is characteristic of people not being native to English. Though when compared to the previous stories it is practically non-existent. The characters are good so far, but the story isn’t long enough for me to truly grow attached to them, and none of them stand out enough to make an amazing impression. Dialog is good, but not great. There is nothing wrong with it, but nothing that stands out either. I’m waiting for an exchange between characters that sticks out as a high point of the story. No piece of dialogue has been memorable enough that I could remember it a day after reading. I’ll remember the broad strokes of an exchange, but the actual words are subsumed by the plot points in my mind. - Oz_NovelreaderRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5It's awesome to read and the fact that its not a Chinese MC like every other game maker fiction I read makes it Soo that I don't see china the best or great dragon country every other word making the reading/telling of the story smoother and the MC doesn't go on much rant about how to make his past life country better or superior then the other word powers No this MC is smart keeping it in the low but not to the his unknown to even the closes people or having that -999IQ when the MC did something and allowing him to get away carefree no he doesn't have over confidence in himself now true that the start of the world building is eh.. and kinda unclear for me like did the monsters appear during like the industrial Revolution for them to not make enjoyable games and just treat the technology they made as vr training sim and what year is it that's all just a lot of ranting about this particular fiction overall it's amazing and although I wish the update is every day I know you'll get a writers block and slow down till the upload catches you and Soo I wish for all the other readers to be kind to our author once that time has come to pass
