Description

In a remote corner of Unova, a Pokémon village hides from the omnipresent, mysterious humanity. Through cooperation, they flourish despite their small size, rising above the uncaring brutality of the natural order. Which works remarkably well...

...until a half dead girl shows up on their doorstep.

Will this hidden pocket of Pokémon civilization remain a secret once humans come looking? Are its denizens prepared to learn just who this unwelcome stranger is, and what impact they’ve already left on their village?

First off, I feel like this should be the #1 would-be readers know beforehand, FtV is absolutely 100% an emotional character-driven story. Not in the way that characters frequently make irrational choices, but it exists primarily to make the reader feel emotions.
Anyways, I really liked FtV. I thought the telling of events made sense, the plot was solid overall, each character's behavior seemed logical based on their thoughts and experiences. With the "Interlude" chapters- personally, I don't think they disrupt the flow of the story; in some cases they circumvent having dull scenes where one character info-dumps their backstory, in others they set up recurring side characters that'll be relevant later. On the topic of characters; there are quite a lot, and the story changes PoVs; but they're all memorable enough to be distinct, including side characters, and the 3rd-person perspective helps keep the reader from getting confused.
There are some drawbacks, nothing major but still worth mentioning. Mainly that the emotional scenes can feel a bit... sappy. Personally, I think it's likely because these scenes primarily involve the main character Anne, who's less emotionally stable because of her upbringing and age. This next one applies almost solely to me: something about the formatting doesn't sit right with me, and it may be because of the varied paragraph lengths, I'm not certain.
All in all, would recommend, please read, you'll probably like it!

While it is a good story that hits some excellent emotional moments I think it is too sad. I subscribe to the belief that too have those excellent sad moments you must have moments of other emotions too and while thus story does have its happy, angry, and chill moments, they all still tend to be tinged with sadness. This creates an experiance that feels to me a little dull and repetitive.
TLDR good story too sad for me
