Description

I've been stuck in a hospital bed for the last 3 years, I can't talk, move anything including my own eyes and all I have to look at is a blank wall. Things are getting better as I've just been sold to a shady company as medical waste. Now I have the opportunity to live in a fantasy game. You may pick fighter or mage; I'd rather be a farmer. Now my little Lu-Shi and I are going to plow this world a new one. Who is Lu-Shi you ask, tune in and find out.

I love how this story takes a hero's journey a bit differently. I was a bit confused about what was going on at the beginning when the main character was a vegetable and you are thrown into how his mind, but it just made the story better as I started to put together the pieces as I read. My heart melted when he took the little girls hand and I love how it tells us right near the beginning what to expect in the story. Little blood and pain, but no problem with profanity and nudity!

The story follows Steven, a man with locked in syndrome with a good sense of humor. I had a good time reading the story, and hope others will as well.  I myself found it enjoyable on an intellectual level, as the story grapples with multiple ethics questions alongside the some light-hearted themes.  As a potential prequel to other stories, it does the job well of laying down the foundations of the world and what might be to come in future novels.
Style - Overall the style is good.  It mostly follows everything from a Steven centric POV, but sometimes throws other character's POV's in a chapter without clear demarcation, which can lead to some confusion.  Some chapters are directly in another character's POV and are well labelled though.  Overall it's a good balance between the two, but can require a short backtrack on occasion due to the formatting.
Grammar - This is probably the weakest factor for this story, and would probably earn another half star from me after some heavy editing work.  While not illegible, grammar and spelling mistakes occur quite frequently, and there are occasional speaker tag mistakes.  I didn't see any that actually made understanding the meaning difficult, but it did slow my pace down somewhat.
Story - The story is really two parts, the first following Steven as he's still living on Earth, and Steven the Fantasy Farmer.  While the two stories do intertwine, they have different genres and that may not be for everyone (although I myself didn't mind it).  Both of these two stories are interesting in their own right, but leave me wishing for a little more time spent in each story to really drive home character relationships, which by and large is the strongest part of the story.
Character - The characters in the story are great.  I enjoyed each one individually, and might be why I feel the story is a bit too short.  I would have liked to see more interactions between Steven and a handful of the characters to better understand why relationships
