    This has got to be one of the best Cyberpunk stories on the site and I can't get enough of it. Excellent development of the main character and his skills, especially without the appearance of a litrpg system giving him free handouts. All the other characters fit into the story and fell well fleshed out. The pacing is good, without feeling rushed or too drawn out. The direction of the story is also very fresh. All in all, it has me be the hook and I can't recommend it more.

    Friday Night Firefight perfectly encapsulates the idea that Night City will chew through you and spit you out the other end broken.
    It truly embodies the capitalistic hellscape that the Cyberpunk universe represents, forcing the protagonist into tough choices that are all reasonable and logical but fundamentally start changing them bit by bit.
    Some proofreading would put it to the next level, as there are not infrequent grammar issues, particularly typos, but I've also read far worse on this site and it's highly legible.
    I highly recommend it to anybody who enjoys the concepts that Cyberpunk deals with.
    I've seen some complaints about the ending and I can empathize, it did come somewhat abruptly. However, I do believe that it's a highly appropriate ending for the story and quite frankly I believe it was sufficiently foreshadowed just by the writing style alone. I think people are mostly complaining because they've not encountered this situation frequently, since most stories on this website would rather go on hiatus than get completed, let alone in this fashion.

    This is a really well done fanfic, the writer really manages to replicate the feel of Night City. It feels dark and dangerous, characters you know and love are terrifyingly mortal, and very few things will go exactly like you expected them to.
    I especially loved the ending, it came as a surprise and felt very cyberpunk.
    You should give this fanfic a try, if you enjoy cyberpunk I think you will enjoy this.

    Spoiler free review, the short of it is that you should read the story.
    This story has a pretty simple premise, young guy gets isekai'd into a world he's familiar with, but lacks the [SYSTEM] nonsense that most authors use as a crutch to make up for their plot holes and poor writing. Given that there isn't a system for the MC to rely on, he's forced to learn as he goes, and he tends to learn the hard way. The story doesn't get bogged down in long training montages, the plot flows well from chapter to chapter, using the time to actually develop the characters and the setting. Another benefit of not having any system stuff, is that the MC doesn't get into any of the mind-numbingly boring I'm gonna break the world with my super OP powers that this godlike entity totally never thought to nerf! sequences.
    This is a story about a guy being fortunate enough to know things, but still having to actually put it to use himself. He isn't a super soldier, he isn't invulnerable, he isn't some street-savvy super chad with a dozen cat girls hanging on every word. He's kind of a bitch at first, but he steadily works up his confidence, he learns the gritty details and how to get by. That knowledge builds on the meta knowledge he had of the setting before, and he slowly puzzles out how to make it work.
    There are some parts that feel a bit forced, and kind of clash with the early incompetence, but the story doesn't get to serious about being realistic when it comes to technical details. The hand waving doesn't stand out harshly, certainly not compared to some other stories on this site.
    The OC characters the author has brought in are good, believable, and fit well with the plot. None of what they do gives the feeling that they're breaking character for plot convenience, that's another thing I really, really appreciate about this story. The characters aren't necessarily some complex, multi-faceted spectacle, but they are consistent. They have their own personalities and ways of speaking

    Great story, loved the whole angle of ordinary guy. wasn't fond of the ending tho, I understand why it was done like that but I felt that it was too rushed. Something something to get 50 words nd post this. Still not enough? Does RR want me to add another novella as review huh?

    I really enjoyed this story, a protagonist that isn't super-powered or particularly OP yet has some foreknowledge of the world, which gives them enough of an edge to do something impressive. At the same time, the development of characters and relationships seem natural and interesting. The shape of the story, the way that it weaves into the story of V and the other subplots of cyberpunk is really fun. I really enjoyed it.
    Also, this is a tragic story and that seems appropriate given the general darkness of the cyberpunk universe.

    So, with exception of a single chapter this story is amazing, and I'm just going to assume the author had corona or something at the time they wrote that one.
    It doesn't even really matter in the big picture.
    The story starts out being basically a comedy, and then it just keeps diving into the darkness that is Cyberpunk, and oh man the characters you learn to love are nowhere near safe, not by a ....... mile.
    It's hard to recommend without too many spoilers, but I'll give you an example of a typical event in the book.
    * Something typical of night city happens.
    * The reader assumes the MC will overcome this issue.
    * They don't.
    * Consequences are dire.
    I love it.

    Fairly good over all. Some spelling and grammar mistakes but nothing too overt hopefully edited in the future. Ending is not to everyone's liking but not the biggest flop on this site by far. If you want to dip out a couple chapters early you might like it a bit better.

    I almost quit within the first 10 chapters cause our mc is a wimp, a real, honest to god, constantly getting manhandled, break down on the street crying, barely hanging on, wimp. That might be an ok representation of a self insert, or even of the average human being, but it doesn't really lend itself for an interesting isekai with meta knowledge mc.
    The side characters are all the most friendly, trusting, understanding and respectable people in NC while the "villains" are all the most irredeemable characters one could face. I am not going to harp too much about the obvious "gangs are bad" shenanigans since that is the norm in a cyberpunk universe but making every side character into a moral paragon makes it feel like the mc is getting babied around the clock, which is also kinda off-putting to me.
    Other than that this scratches the itch for a decent cyberpunk ff. I can respect it, I'm only halfway, but I also get the feeling this ff is actually finished which is another plus in my opinion.
    I just personally wish there were more morally gray badasses doing morally gray things to morally gray people in a badass manner (which is kinda what defines the cyberpunk universe to me) and not as much cringing and winging about killing or emotional support for an underperforming mc that can't keep his shit together.

    Not worth ur time. MC is absolutely useless, has no redeeming qualities, literally has the whole game storyline memorized but doesn’t even know to utilize it well. Tried reading through the mess and stopped at chapter 44. So far seen nothing on what’s motivating the MC, story has almost no life to it, nothing is really climatic or simulating to warrant a full read through.
