Founder of the Beastkin Clan

Description
Kai Tong, a cultivator of the Ember Sword Sect, is an enigma among his peers. While others are consumed by the relentless pursuit of immortality, Kai finds little interest in such ambitions. In fact, he harbors an unexpected disdain for the very world of cultivation he is part of. Instead, he finds greater purpose in caring for others and the mystical creatures entrusted to him, like Snow, the ice-claw wolf, and Igni, the flame-striped tiger. His life, though peaceful, is uneventful—until a series of vivid dreams from another world thrust him into unforeseen danger. These dreams grant him unusual knowledge, setting him on a path no cultivator has ever dared to tread. As Kai uncovers a revolutionary cultivation method, he defies tradition and reshapes the very fabric of his world. Along the way, he establishes the Beastkin Clan, a society of mythical creatures bound by unity and strength. Through trials and triumphs, Kai’s clan rises to be one of the great powers of the world, forging a legacy that will echo through the ages. Join Kai Tong as he challenges the norms of the cultivation world and overcome an extremely cruel world, becoming the Founder of the Beastkin Clan. This is aslow burnstory and might take a while before the story really starts to develop for some and the whole "clan" thing is quite far off.If your looking for a fast pace story, this ain't it. This is also my attempt to write a Xianxia where the MC isn't a jerk. So, don’t expect a super ruthless or murdery hobo MC like other Xianxia stories. But, do expect there to be lots of fluffy animals and lots of petting! [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon Challenge] Release Schedule: M-W-F with a day or two taken off at the end of the month.

- The_Eternal_Ocean_SoulRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is an absolute gem—don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. The pacing is deliberate and masterful, allowing the narrative to build depth and richness over time. While it may feel slower compared to typical Royal Road fare, that’s precisely what makes the character development so compelling. It takes 20+ chapters to truly invest in these characters, and their growth—whether on-screen or implied—feels earned and satisfying.
That said, if you’re the impatient type, consider waiting until there’s a larger backlog (perhaps 100+ chapters? It’s that good). My only hope is that the story avoids the trap of making the MC overpowered through cheap shortcuts. His strength should lie in his knowledge—think zoology, evolution, or niche sciences like grafting—rather than a literal "golden finger." Those unique, grounded skills are what make him fascinating.
To the author: Thank you for crafting such a refreshing and immersive novel. Keep up the phenomenal work! - r0b1n1992Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thanks for your calming narrative, I am not like the others that like gore just for gore. Continue with the story! About the world, I suppose there different types of systems depending on the place that the hero is. - Anonymous0239Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m not going to go too deep into the character or plot, other than to say that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far. I just wanted to say that the pacing, while slow, isn’t bad. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but that doesn’t make it bad or poorly written.
- dragon723Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story progresses steadily. I love that the author showed us the life and character of the MC instead of the lazy telling so prevalent in Litrpgs.
Animal companions and travelling are great, though I look forward to sect building 😁 hint hint 😁
Keep going author and ignore the low star troll reviews. - VigoroRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright so laying it out on the table: I hate cultivation novels. Not for lack of trying, either. Something about the casually unexplained jargon and vaguely defined power systems just never sits right with me, and most of all the MCs are hard to differentiate from one another. But, I like challenging my preconceived notions. So, I partake occasionally, and sometimes one surprises me and I quite enjoy it. This is definitely one of them.
I expected a fortunate young master stumbling his way into rare treasures and 1,000 year something-or-another medicines while being particularly gifted at poking his dantian or whatever. Instead, what I found was a contemplative and grounded MC with fleshed out strengths and flaws. His values are realistic and relateable, unlike the lofty morals of supernaturally inclined characters that may as well be alien to us, the readers. The take on isekai/reincarnation, while not ground-breaking, is nuanced, engaging, and well executed. It adds some additional weight in a "show don't tell" fashion to explain the MC's knowledge and actions. And most of all, the MC is just a guy you want to root for; his struggle is for a cloying, simple fantasy that many of us have and take for granted.
Maybe this was a bit early to write a review? It feels like the story has just begun, but something about it made me want to gush. Enough to make me want to write my first review ever on this site, apparently.
Light spoilers ahead:
Well, we are almost three dozen chapters in, and the titular Beaskin Clan has not, infact, been founded. Heck, beastkin havent even been spotted yet. I can confirm that the burn is indeed slow, and I'm enjoying the simmering tension of watching Kai's uncertain path to greatness unfold. - JagzerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I can not tell you more. I am sorry but this body of work is darn near perfect. I would say more but it would ruin the journey. I wish you luck and a fortitude that boarders on that of a cultivator constitution. Read and feel, hate or love, I think this work is important.
- LiterateDramaticallyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very calming read. It isn’t stuffed full of plot unlike some reads, and it doesn’t have cliffhangers or feel stopped halfway by a new chapter.
There aren’t any actual, distinct character arks, and it very much fits. The MC is very much not ambitious, but also not allergic to doing things. The weak to strong arc is over, failed, and has been for decades. It does not reawaken.
The beasts, however, don’t have a central role, if you have to have that. Mc is comfortable with them, and knows them, and thus the story reflects that. Same goes with worldbuilding.
This does do all that perfectly, though. The characters are indeed (mostly) very naturally developed (#demonic interlude does not fit, and is the exception not the rule). The power politics are great when they happen, and if you don’t appreciate good literature this isn’t for you.
Not all chapters have an aim here. There is filler mixed in, but well enough that you can’t really tell unless you’re a progression maniac, in which case, do not read. Mc successfully flees from combat, and will de-escalate at the cost of his pride. he is practical.
Will read again from the beginning in less than a month.
This fic does not rely on shock factor. It is pretty much perfect. - 3034meRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a well done novel with a gradual but steady plot progression. Many of the chapters are very slice of life as the mc goes about life, slowly unveiling and building up the overall plot, with the occasional interludes introducing wider events outside of the mc's knowledge. Overall very promising. There are a few areas that whilst not necessarily flaws are things some may dislike. One is that the chapters can be very short. Another is that the mc despises typical arrogant cultivator behavior, especially when it creates conflict, with his reaction being to perhaps overcorrect in avoiding conflict and killing beyond what seems reasonable. And yes, it is very slow burn but that was in the description so...
- ZagarothRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I am enjoying the story and will be continuing to read. :) A little bit of a disclaimer, I am writing this review at chapter 10, so some of what I mention here may change later. I will update the review occasionally, but my reading time availability is intermittent, so I wanted to get something up now that I am pausing for a moment. The story is indeed as slow paced as promised, and I like that. There are layers to the world and the characters, and I am presuming that we will see even more as we go further in.I like the protagonist and those he's friendly with, but I think there is too sharp a division between them and those who are unfriendly too him. There should be more characters who just don't care, or are otherwise in some grey area between. Even callous disregard would be good, compared to the aggressive hostility a lot of people have shown him.Really, we have everything we need for a very good story, and the author has shown enough talent that I am betting that he will improve as we go.
