Description

“Trust isn’t taken. It’s offered.”

In a world where Pokémon and people coexist by necessity—not fantasy—every bond must be earned. But trust isn’t the only thing at risk.

Ayra, a fit and sharp-minded girl from Littleroot, has trained in the art of Kokira since childhood—an observational martial tradition grounded in calm, reflex, and trust. While other kids dream of glory or League medals, Ayra wants something quieter: a life where she can explore the wild routes without fear... and where her Pokémon choose to stand beside her freely.

But the world beyond Littleroot is no simple trail. From ruthless black market trades to manipulative factions, to Pokémon whose power can turn deadly in an instant, Ayra will face challenges not just of strength—but of conscience.

Her journey begins with a Torchic. But it will test everything she thinks she knows about trust, power, and survival.

Disclaimer:This is a work of fanfiction inspired by the world of Pokémon, created by Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company. No ownership of Pokémon, its creatures, settings, or core mechanics is claimed.

This story explores a realistic reinterpretation of the Pokémon universe, including original worldbuilding, systems, and characters. While no explicit content is depicted, certain chapters — including regulatory documents and case files — include factual-style accounts of injuries, fatalities, and ethical challenges associated with Pokémon encounters.

It is written for transformative, non-commercial purposes only, with a focus on grounded worldbuilding, structure, and consequence.Reader discretion is advised.

Why I’m writing this:

I’ve long been interested in how fantasy settings (like the Pokémon world) might look if they were grounded in reality.

This story is an attempt to visualize that idea: to take a world shaped by trust, danger, and wonder, and rebuild it with structure, culture, ethics, and consequences.

I’m also writing this to test the limits and capabilities of AI — to explore what tools like ChatGPT can help create when guided with a clear vision and standards.

This isn’t a parody or power fantasy. It’s an exploration of what it means to grow up in a world where the wild reallyiswild — and where trust is the first risk you take.

There are lot of things that bother me even in the beginning of this story, from the way in which a bunch of already captured Pokémon are used for trust tests to differently sized pokeballs. One type is just logically wrong and the other conflicts with the canon for no reason. Descriptive metaphors and actions are so forced and unnatural as to completely break immersion: "A beat passed. The kitchen ticked with the sound of wind tapping on the windowpane." (chapter 1) This is so distracting and also 'ticked'? It does not make sense. There are quite a few number of these as well. "Sun-bleached stones" is another. "Eyes between the eyes." is another example from the same chapter.
The prose itself is proper and well, though some bolding and other tricks here make it a little odd in spots, but the details itself and the scenes themselves are where it has a lot of issues. There are jumps after jumps after jumps, and the Pokémon references - such as in chapter 3 have so many issues from a trainer Pokémon which attacked its trainer's family to odd magical evolution causing the deaths of people. The realism the author shoots for doesn't manifest and it becomes ridiculous because there is a fundamental disconnect in the communicative process and how Pokémon are in the setting.
As it goes on the dialogue gets choppy and awkward, but the sweeping generalizations as part of the schooling amounts to very little. One thing that stood out was the concept of having an egg versus one just-hatched. It completely ignores type, nature and in a weird way brings up the ethics of having an egg as some potential consent issue. It forgets that many Pokémon canonically have clutches of eggs and are not cared for by parents - almost all bug and most water types as well as numerous fire, metal, ice and given the weird way mammal-type Pokémon still have eggs.. it becomes odd. So many parts of the story just do not make sense because Pokémon are painted with sweeping generalizations.
