Forge of Destiny is an excellent coming of age story centered around a young former street thief as she grows up in a Xianxia world.  She is discovered to have talent and is taken to the sect where she makes learns new power, and makes friends as well as enemies.
The setting is based off of Xianxia world, but the characters feel real.  People do not exist just to praise the main character.  She is talented, but she has no true "cheat code".  There are no cardboard cutouts of characters, every main character is very fleshed out and has a unique personality.
What this reminds me most of all is a more mature version of the early Harry Potter books.  I'd reccomend this to anyone with a love of fantasy.

A well executed Wuxia, with a better than normal cast.
As all is determined by die, failure is a legitimet threat.
The Main Character does not act in a vacuum. All deeds have coneqeunces, every missed opportunity will never return and may be exploited by those with malice.
Ling Qui is a fallible actor in a vast and strange world where allies must be picked carefully and friends are worth more than gold. Every relationship is a commodity that must be leveraged carefully, for there is no neutraly. He who chooses to wish to be friends with all, in truth stands alone.

The world this story is set in has layers of detail constantly implied by the author beyond even the occasional chapter of exposition by Imperial Scholars describing locations and events. There is a wealth of history frequently mentioned in passing, and politics on a grand scale occuring in the background by characters that rarely make an appearance in the narrative. This work is clearly a labor of love by its author, and the skill with which it is woven is readily apparent.
The story itself concerns the challenges overcome by a talented street waif whose dedication to personal growth is boundless, as she attempts to match or exceed the progress of her peers toward immortality and power.

I'm going to have to go read the quest thanks to this - and it's far longer right now, which'll be interesting.

I've always wanted a female MC in chinese novels that wasn't just about romance. Well, here we are! We have a female MC not romance focused, a bit of a loner and needing to get used to even friends, she has a focus on more support type skills (bow, illusion and magic via music) which we don't see too often in wuxia, and there isn't too much description of anyones jade peaks and such.
Overall the story has a good flow and focus, with side stories to get other POV's and explore the world. It swings between relationships/training and fights/conflict, so even if things slow down for a few chapters that's usaully followed by adversity. Keeps things interesting and doesn't feel like a slog.
Very interested to follow this ones progress. But I personally would like a bigger focus on cultivation and discussion on that.

The best adjective for this story is delightful. A relatively light but still poignant read that I can only recommend to everyone.
The main character, Ling Qi, is just a huge loaf of fresh air. I've recently binged a lot of web novels and Ling Qi is just awesome. She manages to be insanely gifted and hard working, unaware of how special she is, yet still prideful and generally happy, for the most part. She's not content, but the novel reads like a story from someone that genuinely enjoys what they're doing. The sense of progress, the difficulties. The dangers. The fights. Ling Qi strives in the sect enviornment. Yet, despite all Ling Qi's success, the story stays true to its cultivation roots and all Ling Qi's success still comes from her work, and her progress is always seen as impressive but not impossible.
Other stories will have the character have inherent advantages, be it knowledge of technology, access to an overpowered element or a snowball mechanic. Ling Qi is just fun and lucky. She cares about her friends, but doesn't care too much about anyone else. She wants to make her life better and has no pretenses on wanting to improve the world. Heck, she barely believes the world can be improved. And that'sa wonderful place to start.
The supporting cast is equally engaging and well developed. The dynamic between the characters is consistent. I could describe them all, but I honestly couldn't know where to start as all characters are both unique and serve a unique purpose.
The style is a huge plus. The story weaves in and out of the narrative present with a brilliant mastery of pacing. What needs to be shown is shown, what needs to be told is told with a consistent and pleasent narrating voice. Reminds me of the style used in the first Talia books in the Herald's of Valdmaar series.
To top it off, this book achieves something that I lack the skill to express eloquently: It manages to include the dark parts. The jealousy, the feelings of inferiority, the desesperat

Muy bueno, algo abrumador en ocasiones pero en general. Una gran historia, y un mundo rico, con personajes vivos. Me encanta. Me parece genial queel camino de la principal sea la comunicación y no la batalla. Aunque esto no quiere decir que no luche. Ver un personaje que prefiere encontrar resolución antes que violencia es refrencante.

Too slow, after 400+ chapters I'm tired of the stories stagnation. Main character is stuck in her same old moral and emotional dilemma for the past 200+ chapers, not only that but her lack of proper inspiration in cultivating other than to be strong is disconcerting, she's as talented as other ducal scions so what is it that forces her to move so much more hastily than those other scions? nothing honestly, if the author didn't force the plot to move in his favor ling qi would've probably been like that administrative elder who cultivates the Way of contentment, she's an empty shell at this point, her Way contradicts her actual want. What she wants is a warm family she can rely on, but her Way forces her to push through that stagnation called "family" and forces her to grow for no apparent reason. It's bothersome how the author keeps mentioning the problem and never actually fixes it merely maneuvers around it so that readers could be satisfied with a temporary solution, ling qi is clearly apathetic on the heiress's ideology so why bother? if the author's gonna forcefully rawdog an actual plot then why not stick through with it instead of silently implying that there is a bigger thing playing in the background and then never mention it again for hundreds of chapters in the future. It's boring having to wait actual precious years for some meagre progress that's not going to be anything significant other than a minor breakthrough to another minor realm. So much more questions so little answers.

First of all, it must be said that the world & side characters are 10/10.
The slow pacing that some people complain about allows for solid world-building & I love this approach cause it's a breath of fresh air to a lot of xanxia readers who are tired of the usual tropes. I also love how MC doesn't have some secret cheat that allows her to steamroll her competition & the whole realistic approach. Its epic until a certain point....
The story starts as the MC gets introduced to the sect in typical xanxia fashion & proceeds quite smoothly as she slowly but surely turns into a badass step by step....until chapter 165 where she decides that it's a good idea to become a retainer(she signs off her future) to someone who makes a solid pick for the most boring character in the story(justice stereotype with mommy issues) which is otherwise full of epic characters & then her character seems to just downgrade into someone who is super reliant on her made apparent by a song she plays for a duel at threads-14 inspired by their master-servant relationship that just made me cringe & finally decide to drop the story. I'm guessing this downgrade is cause cultivation at a certain stage is about understanding oneself and finding your path which makes the whole thing more dramatic if MC is full of flaws.
Hopefully, Cai Renxiang is supposed to be that character that's supposed to influence MC in some way before getting killed off , but until then reading this story will probably be the equivalent of going to a buffet while only being allowed to eat the salad for me.

    The world is great.
characters are logical and well built. No random forced plot devices.
Howvever, there is a significant lack of hook, tension and interest.
So regardless of how solid a foundation is built along with the depth of the characters without having a compelling story or humour. I think I'd prefer to read a tragically messy xianxia, because they have excitement. Which is a shame, because if there was better plot here, it would blow them out of the water.
because all there is here is depth and it's not enough for me
