The world this story is set in has layers of detail constantly implied by the author beyond even the occasional chapter of exposition by Imperial Scholars describing locations and events. There is a wealth of history frequently mentioned in passing, and politics on a grand scale occuring in the background by characters that rarely make an appearance in the narrative. This work is clearly a labor of love by its author, and the skill with which it is woven is readily apparent.
The story itself concerns the challenges overcome by a talented street waif whose dedication to personal growth is boundless, as she attempts to match or exceed the progress of her peers toward immortality and power.

It may not seem like at first, but Forge of Destiny is a bit special.
With crutches of transmigration, otherwordly knowledge, Chosen Ones, magitek and 4th wall break we can see a truly worthwhile story bloom.
Ling Qi, our protagonist, is a character that constantly develops. Being unsure and basing her entire existence on running away from problems, she accepts the power of Immortals and is forced to confront those problems.
Like a good metal, Ling Qi becomes someone special not from being born that way, but through trials and tribulations.
Reforged, she stands proudly on her own two feet, an anchor to those she calls her friends.
I am eager to see what purpose our heroine will find herself drawn to, because no matter what it is, I'm sure I'll be following her Way with a baited breath.

One of the best webnovel I've ever read, maybe the best. Probably the best.
The world building is solid, the characters have deep inner life, the action is intense and the humor always well written.
My favorite thing is the vision of cultivation as an inner path to understanding oneself, in addition to a path to power as it is in most novels of this genre. It's riveting.
If you like xanxia you cannot pass this one, trust me.

A well executed Wuxia, with a better than normal cast.
As all is determined by die, failure is a legitimet threat.
The Main Character does not act in a vacuum. All deeds have coneqeunces, every missed opportunity will never return and may be exploited by those with malice.
Ling Qui is a fallible actor in a vast and strange world where allies must be picked carefully and friends are worth more than gold. Every relationship is a commodity that must be leveraged carefully, for there is no neutraly. He who chooses to wish to be friends with all, in truth stands alone.

Forge of Destiny is an excellent coming of age story centered around a young former street thief as she grows up in a Xianxia world.  She is discovered to have talent and is taken to the sect where she makes learns new power, and makes friends as well as enemies.
The setting is based off of Xianxia world, but the characters feel real.  People do not exist just to praise the main character.  She is talented, but she has no true "cheat code".  There are no cardboard cutouts of characters, every main character is very fleshed out and has a unique personality.
What this reminds me most of all is a more mature version of the early Harry Potter books.  I'd reccomend this to anyone with a love of fantasy.

This is at its core a coming of age story with a side of politics thrown in. Xianxia is just a tool to explore that. That is not to say Xiaxia elements are totally ignored but it is rightly used as a tool to explore the characters.
Instead of detached cultivation where cultivation doesn't have much effect in the character of most xianxia stories here it sometimes has a positive effect and sometimes a detrimental effect. Achieving higher power requires sacrifice either of spirit or of the body(as of this chapter)
It is analogous to an epic fairy tale with a lot of fantastical elements in play where reality bends and really bends for those with power.
The world itself is interesting where spirits affect the world and it's populace and the population affect the spirit themselves. A world filled with magic will indeed work like that.
Overall a great story. The only point of dissonance is being an eastern culture story why do we have a wester hierachical titles like Counts Dukes and so on? Other than that it is a very good read.

I have been following this book for a long time. I read many different fictions on RRL and on other sites, but one of the only fictions I have consistently kept up with (and one of the only fictions to maintain a consistent, swift release rate) has been Forge of Destiny.
The fact that the book maintains a high quality of prose while artfully expanding the world and the depth of characters is a testament to the author's planning and discipline. I've seen complaints that this book is paced too slowly, but I disagree.
In many xianxia books, a lot seems to happen, but nothing relevant actually does (i.e. rinse and repeat arrogant young master encounters). The plot races ahead, the main character breaking through cultivation stages left and right while doing all sorts of shenanigans. But after the book is done, a lot of what happened rings hollow; not much sticks out. Characters are typically archetypes rather than unique individuals.
Forge of Destiny is not like these xianxia novels. I'd say that it's what you might get if you took a cultivation novel and focused not on the destination (i.e. becoming lord of the universe), but the journey: one filled with friendship and struggles and finding oneself.
I'm excited to continue reading just how the cast of characters develop and make their way through the world.
Thank you for all your hard work Yrsillar!

Synopsis (as of chapter 32, "Heating 2"):
This story is about a commoner girl who was chosen out of the blue by some Argent Sect people to join the new round of fresh blood into the sect. She is through and through a commoner making her feel out of place when,
    1) Almost everybody else joining the Argent Sect comes from some sort of noble clan.
    2) She knows completely nothing about cultivation when everyone else already has a head start.
    3) She's aware of the discrimination between nobles and commoner and she has to somehow make friends and survive through these ordeals, in order to never have to struggle like a mortal again.
In Forge of Destiny, we follow her through a well-paced cultivation as she slowly learns of what it means to be an immortal. This includes cultivation, arts, noble clans, and all that non-mortal stuff she had never cared about.
Despite the name Forge of Destiny as well as all the titles having something to do with forging, there has yet to be anything to do with blacksmithing or forging items. It seems the theme currently is the traditional xianxia cultivation of forging oneself from mortal into an immortal warrior.
    STYLE:
They say 'Show, don't tell.' If you want an example of that, read this novel. Every chapter we learn together with her as the mysteries of the world are slow unravelled alongside her progress with cultivation.
    GRAMMER:
No problem whatsoever. Were you a grammar nazi, i don't think you'll be triggered at all. Jimmies are thus, not rustled.
    STORY:
This story is for you if you like the following:
    a) No info dumps, with a focus on chapter-by-chapter worldbuilding
    b) A living breathing world, where each character is multi-faceted from the MC to the elders to random people mentioned in bonus chapters.
    c) A diligent hard-working girl (the MC), who doesn't get involved into petty fights and instead works on oneself the most.
    d) A MC who is not OP. She was just an ignorant mortal so she's completely out of her element yet, it seems her

Muy bueno, algo abrumador en ocasiones pero en general. Una gran historia, y un mundo rico, con personajes vivos. Me encanta. Me parece genial queel camino de la principal sea la comunicación y no la batalla. Aunque esto no quiere decir que no luche. Ver un personaje que prefiere encontrar resolución antes que violencia es refrencante.
