This story is for anyone who enjoys stories that blend contrasting genres. I found the splicing of horror and urgency with slice-of-life segments to be well-done and refreshing. The chapters centered around the plot are more fast-paced and show a clear sense of urgency when compared to the slower “normal” chapters. The author seems to have found a style that really works for them and is easy to read. Narration is first person and the MC has a strong voice. The shorter paragraphs lend themselves well to establishing urgency and pacing, as well as the chaotic personality of the MC.Characters are great and I find the interactions between them to be very funny. The MC is the weird girl type character that you may have seen before, but she is done well and her inner thoughts are fun to read and I feel like her personality is very genuine. She seems like the perfect fit for the direction the plot is going. The story is a very cool concept that I personally love. It reminds me of shows like “Kevin can F*** Himself” and “Interior Chinatown.” Genre swapping is one of my favorite things. The grammar is generally correct and easy to read. There’s just a few typos, the type of thing that happens to everyone.Would highly recommend this story to anyone like me that loves stories playing around with tone and genre.

Okay, this was SUCH a surprise. I honestly thought I was just picking up a lighthearted school comedy—Llyne’s internal monologue is absolutely hilarious (her dramatic reactions to everything are such a mood), and her banter with Iz is total friendship goals. I was laughing so hard at the whole "Uncle Georgie" bit.
But then... the vibes shifted? The author is seriously good at building that creeping, "something is wrong" atmosphere. The descriptions of the nightmares, especially the void and the woman with the scythe, gave me genuine goosebumps. It went from wholesome to terrifying real quick, and I loved the contrast.
If I had to nitpick one tiny thing, a couple of the transitions between the flashbacks and the present day felt a little abrupt. I had to re-read a sentence or two to figure out where we were. But honestly? It didn't stop me from binge-reading.
That ending though... I am stressing out!! No spoilers, but my heart is pounding. Please update soon, I need answers!

Well, the idea and concept is definately interesting, as is the overall plot. The execution is a bit shaky, mainly because of the AI voice, but this can be easily fixed with just a tiny bit more editing. But overall, this is a nice coming of age story, though I wish the author would lessen the exposition more (there's way too much of that). I also like how there is a big focus on character motivation and devlopment, which is a part I think the author does quite well.

A very intriguing story that lays out the tension very well. The mystery, the world building are all done very well. Though I dislike that there are multiple masters this soon in the text. I dislike a bunch of things, but that seems due to my own preferences. Like the magic not being given the breathing room the rest of the story is given. Like the Villains not showing the absolute best of their competency. But I don't think those are deal breakers or even make the story bad. I think that there is a portion of people who will absolutely love the mystery and the characters. Llyne is a compelling character that is adequately used in the story.
    Style
The style could use some work. The mystery is nailed really well, but when it comes to the magic aspect I feel that it is too flippant. If you are looking for a great mystery it will deliver. The family aspect, the friend aspect and the world aspect.
    Story
I love me a story that is not afraid to prune itself, and I think this is a great one there. Each time Llyne notices something we know it will matter in the future. Each beat is built so that the Tension is built to an obvious breaking point and I love that.
    Grammar
I've said before that I don't think about grammar all that much unless there mistakes. I spotted some so I can't give the whole score, but because the book is altogether readable I can't go lower than 4.5
    Character
The part that shines the most through, and the part that caused me a lot of pain.
Llyne's Ma dying so fast does not agree with me. She didn't show us anything and didn't express anything. She just felt hollow as a character, wasted even. It would have been better in my opinion if she helped Llyne escape and then died

This novel weaves a compelling, surreal narrative where mundane high school life collides with eerie nightmares and hidden family secrets. The protagonist's sharp, humorous voice balances the growing tension, making the supernatural mystery feel grounded yet unsettling. While pacing occasionally falters, the vivid imagery and emotional depth especially in the mother-daughter dynamic create a haunting, memorable read.

Okay, here's the thing. I know that the writing style that this author uses is a bit unusual. I know that from a technical perspective, you could say there's not enough sentence structure variation or buildup and release or whatever.
But man, I really really love it.
It has this cadence to it.
    It flows so well.
And the author handles it in a fantastic way, because despite 90% of the paragraphs being like one or two sentences long, it still accomplishes the buildup release cycle in glorious fashion. (See what I did there?)
But yeah, that's honestly my favorite thing about the story. I'm really into seeing stylistic differences between authors and this one is a real gem.
Aside from that, it's a bit of a slow start out the gate. There's definitely some hinting to later plot, but mostly we're getting slice of life comedy shenanigans. Again, the voice really shines here. But we also get a couple of great GIGA CONTRAST LAUGHTER TO TERROR moments, which I think are done fairly well. The characters have life to them, and I'm very interested in where this story goes.
There were one or two grammar issues that I noticed, but nothing that breaks immersion!

Overall: I really like the story. Highly recommended to any readers who love a cheeky and lovable protagonist who’s thrown into a dark gritty world full of death and chaos (if her life wasn’t one already chaotic haha). It balances those dark elements with comedy and humour well, so its not all the time gloomy and depressing. But who knows, right? It might be a façade, after all.Style: The prose blended in well the confusion, the chaos, the scenes and inner monologues. It makes me immersed in the story fully and I can’t stop reading more. The author’s styles remind me of the light novel I often read. And I’m a fan of those. The only nitpick is the over usage of single line paragraphs. That’s all. Nothing major.Story: This will be spoiler free. Chapter 8 is where things become very interesting. All the earlier chapters are built toward that pivotal chapter. Chapter 0-7 builds the world, seed us the plot and the story and most importantly, build anticipation for what to come next. I recommend everyone to read this story for yourself. Myself? I'll binge it all :). You don't want to miss this story.Grammar: Grammar is excellent. Very well written and easy to read. It flows seamlessly.Characters: Llyne is a very wonderful character. The star of this story, really. Her inner monologue, the way how lovably cheeky is to her friend, Iz and how she sees and evaluates things make Llyne a very stellar character. A protagonist you could root for. And now, thrown into a new dark world, how will she develop? Who she will become?

I binge-read all seven chapters in one sitting, and honestly, it’s better than I expected.
At first, reading the first two chapters, I thought this was just your typical Japanese light novel-style school life story, with Llyne being just a snarky comic relief character. But the more I read, the more I got sucked in. The author is really good at the 'boiling frog' technique—using the goofy school banter to lower your guard, making you think it’s just about cafeteria wars and gossip, before slowly seeping in the horror elements. The contrast between battling wits with Mr. Woo one second and dreaming of a slaughter on a battlefield the next was nailed perfectly.
Llyne is a pretty interesting protagonist. That personality—acting cowardly and cheeky on the surface while actually panicking like crazy on the inside—feels very real. Especially that part where he resorts to 'self-harm' just to distinguish between dreams and reality; that instantly established the sense of despair and showed he’s not just a tool for comedy. His interactions with Iz are a highlight of the book, too. Their dialogue is super natural—not cringe at all. And Iz isn’t just eye candy; she’s actually smart and helps analyze the dream logic, which is rare to see.
If I had to nitpick, though, I think there are a few too many 'coincidences.' Several times right when Llyne is about to get serious, either the bell rings or someone interrupts him.
But that flag at the end of Chapter 7? That hit way too hard. 'The last time I'd ever see her'—that just shot my anticipation through the roof. I thought it was going to be a slow-burn mystery with two childhood friends, but that one line turned it straight into a tragedy. Now that the setup is complete, I really want to know what happened to tear these two apart like that.
Overall, this story has a lot of promise. Please don't drop the ball on the ending!

Oui, oui, oui, outstanding. You got to love a story that starts out as an endearing coming of age tale that evolves into survival horror and then death trials. It’s a great premise that is well executed. I really enjoyed the authors use of contrasts. The story has well placed humor that hits, sprinkles in psychological elements, all tied together by action and plot development.
The protagonist rises from a school outcast into a compelling and complex hero. She’s sarcastic, self-deprecating, and incredibly relatable. Her moving from high school kid to death trials is classic and executed with finesse.
The author makes good use of contrasts to heighten the emotional tension and impact. In one moment we are joking about "My stomach is a demon" to organ harvesting. This really highlights the the more compelling moments and keeps you invested. It hits hard and is unforgettable.
This story is for someone looking for compelling characters, action, and awesome twists and turns. Plus, it pulls off comedy and psychological dynamics with aplomb. Definitely, give it a read. You won’t regret it.

The writing in this story is easy to read, and the pacing is handled well, making it enjoyable to follow. The flow feels natural, allowing readers to move from scene to scene without feeling rushed or slowed down unnecessarily. Because of this balance, the story becomes accessible and pleasant to experience. However, one area that feels like it could be stronger is the atmosphere. While the pacing and clarity are good, the atmosphere building is somewhat lacking, and adding more emotional tone or sensory detail could make certain moments feel more immersive. Even so, the story remains enjoyable overall. The characters are interesting, especially the main character. Her personality is expressed clearly in the author’s writing, allowing readers to understand who she is through her actions, dialogue, and decisions. This makes her engaging and helps build a connection early in the story. The prologue also does a good job establishing mystery, especially regarding the other world the main character sees. This mystery continues to build throughout the later chapters, keeping the reader curious and engaged. The gradual reveal works well and maintains interest.Overall, this story is enjoyable to read. With intriguing characters and a developing mystery, it holds the potential to become even more compelling as the atmosphere strengthens. It’s a story worth following, especially for readers who enjoy character-driven mysteries.
