- andie 555Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0the start was what i personally look for in a novel and i enjoyed it a lot. so much that i speed read thru the already published chapters (which is 15 when i’m writing this).
It’s obvious the author is a western and his english is almost perfect. I don’t think i’ve run into any typos. so whatever you’re doing, keep it up! and i can’t wait to see where the story goes! - KevosmanRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The good first. The editing of this story is great. Few grammatical mistakes that will pull you from the story.
Stuff to work on. WHen you meet the MC, you don't know how old he is, just that he is in the slums of a city working to pay for citizenship. You know that both of his parents are dead and that they leave him a crystal, but nothing more than that. Makes it really hard to get a full sense of the character. Im not saying that you have to change it from what it is currently, the MC doesn't remember, but we as readers need a little more background. It is really hard to get into a MC that you don't know. A battle scene with a magic beast in the eastern district is just glossed over. Hey a battle happened, and now its over. If its important enough to be added into the story, give me something. Let me see a opening of your worlds magic system, a little into how the cities defenders fight. Some of what will be in store for our future MC after he graduates from the academy.
The way the MC earns money is a meh, for me. If you are in a super poor area and are using dumpster diving for your income are you just going to be able to sell your stuff to an auction? Is that level of poor even going to have an auction, or should it be a shop. Go into a little detail about the stuff he finds and sells, does he do a little cleaning, or is he more inventive and able to do minor fixes. When writing a story details matter.
