Some of the descriptions in the first few chapter are a bit too on the nose to show the bong between the main characters. Keep the chapters coming I'm impressed and liking the story. I wish my grammar was this goof but fuck English as a second language.
- eggbertfegbertRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An outstanding and emotionally resonant opening chapter that immediately showcases why Eldanar’s Chosen has earned such a dedicated readership. “Old Friends. New Realities.” is not only a beautifully crafted introduction to the series’ world and characters, but also a testament to the author’s exceptional ability to blend heartfelt emotion with imaginative fantasy.
From the first scene, the reunion between Josh and Brett is written with remarkable authenticity. CopperKnutz captures the subtle nuances of long-lost friendships—the awkwardness, the warmth, the shared history—with a level of emotional intelligence that elevates the narrative far above a standard fantasy opener. The transformation of their hometown is described with such vivid sensory detail that the reader feels both the nostalgia and the melancholic sting of time’s passage.
One of the author’s greatest strengths is the ability to create layered, human moments that feel effortlessly real. The quiet walk through town, the unspoken regrets, the conversation by the waterfall—all of these scenes are written with tenderness and honesty. They reveal not just who the characters are, but why we should care about them. This emotional groundwork makes the later shift into the fantastical all the more powerful.
When the story transitions into the otherworldly forest, CopperKnutz demonstrates superb pacing and tonal control. The wonder and disorientation Josh and Brett experience are palpable, and the sudden appearance of the glowing blue system box is a perfectly executed hook that promises adventure, mystery, and growth.
Overall, CopperKnutz has crafted a masterful first chapter. The prose is polished, the characters compelling, and the emotional beats handled with exceptional skill. This is the kind of opening that immediately inspires confidence in the author and excitement for what lies ahead. A phenomenal start to what promises to be an unforgettable fantasy journey. - thatstakn2Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The main mc’s are very likable the party dynamo are also quite good. The team play off each others strengths and I enjoy the banter they share. I appreciate the all the action scenes and the slice of life on their down time. I like that for once I can read an an adventure story that is not all about eyeballing cat girls and drooling from testosterone fueled porn thoughts. KUDOS!!!!!
- CjtheClamRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm a big fan of the isekai genre and I feel that this fiction handles it well. It's not often that there is a partnership of characters put through this trope so I am enjoying seeing their interactions and how they separately cope with this.
In addition, I like the straightforward stats and skills based system. Feels satisfying to have the characters improve themselves and gain confidence in their abilities. As always I enjoy a good "numbers go up" fiction. - LS135Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the very first chapter of Eldanar’s Chosen, I was completely hooked. The premise is two friends from Earth, Josh and Brett, ripped into a fantasy world — is so well-executed that the story avoids the usual “transported-then-instantly-overpowered” trope. Instead, we get grounded, hard-earned progression, and I love that.World-building is one of the novel’s greatest strengths. Eldanar feels real: rich with steel, magic, chivalry, and real danger. The LitRPG mechanics are woven in naturally, not just as flashy stats, which makes each fight and tactical decision feel meaningful. What really elevates this story, though, is the emotional heart. Josh, training to be a shield, and Brett, discovering his magical talents, balance each other perfectly. Their friendship feels genuine, and their struggles — physically, mentally, and emotionally — are depicted with care.I also really appreciate how the combat scenes are tactical rather than chaotic. There’s real planning, risk, and consequence; nothing feels cheap or unearned. Plus, the author doesn’t shy away from the trauma that comes with fighting for your life, which makes the stakes feel very real. One of my favorite things is the pacing: it's a slow burn build, not rushed to a climax. According to the blurb, there are “no plans to turn this into a book series … instead I just want to keep building the world.” That shows real passion, and as a reader, I appreciate it, I feel like I'm growing alongside the characters. The writing style is clean, the dialogue warm and natural, and there’s a lovely sense of camaraderie throughout. Even when things get serious, the friendship between Josh and Brett shines through. And although there is violence and danger, the emotional core never gets lost.Overall, Eldanar’s Chosen is a delight — a thoughtful, character-driven LitRPG that balances strategy, heart, and fantasy worldbuilding beautifully. Highly recommended to anyone who loves progression-based stories and well-developed party d
- SeraquelRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story follows 2 friends who gets isekai'd.
The 2 main characters are well written and their party members are all distinct individuals too.
Writing on the whole is really good, especially seeing as its the authors first work.
Main critique would be that some of the combat scenes take a long while, so progress on the story itself is somewhat slow, but the combat that does take place is very well described and the flow is good, so thats something one can live with.
World is pretty standard so far, but its early days so maybe we will see some new stuff, overall though really enjoying this series and will keep reading as soon as new chapters are out. - SoulfireTalesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story delivers a highly engaging and layered narrative that balances nostalgia, friendship and high stakes with impressive control. The early chapters ground the reader in a believable, modern setting, capturing the quiet ache of returning home to find everything changed. The contrast between the boys’ warm memories and the cold commercialism of their hometown is handled with real emotional intelligence. Josh and Brett’s friendship feels authentic, built on history, humour and unspoken loyalty. Their dialogue is natural, their banter lands cleanly, and their personal differences give the relationship texture. You establish early that the heart of the story is not just the world they come from, but the bond that anchors them.
The transition from grounded realism to high fantasy is executed with strong pacing. The shift at the waterfall is vivid and disorienting in the right way, pulling the reader into the moment alongside the characters. Their arrival in Eldanar feels appropriately awe inducing, and the worldbuilding is rich without overwhelming the story. The introduction of the System is clear, ambitious and thematically aligned with the sense of being lost yet given unexpected purpose.
Overall, the chapter functions as a compelling launch platform. It pulls the reader into a familiar emotional landscape, then catapults them into an expansive new world with enormous narrative potential. The friendship at the core keeps the story grounded even as the scale increases, creating a strong foundation for whatever comes next. - Thorstan01Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoying the story so far and the fact The characters feel real not perfect people but trying their best. The world so far is incredibly interesting only 55 chapters in and liking the system set up aswell as the side characters. Grammar could use slight work tenses changing mid fights but it isn't enough to break immersion nothing glaringly obvious. Thanks for writing having a blast reading so far.

It's got immersive worldbuilding, tense battles, and characters that feel real and relatable. Josh and Brett’s journey into Eldanar is gripping because they’re not overpowered heroes; they’re two ordinary guys thrown into extraordinary circumstances, and watching them adapt and grow is just so satisfying. The pacing is good, fights feel real, and the stakes are always high. The LitRPG elements are integrated so smoothly that they enhance the story without ever feeling like a distraction. What I really liked was the party dynamics and character interactions; the humour, the tension, the loyalty, it all feels genuine and makes you care deeply about what happens next. The authors good at creating vivid descriptions and cinematic action scenes that make you feel like you’re right there in the thick of it. There were moments that had me grinning, moments that had me on edge, and even a few that hit me emotionally harder than I expected. For a first-time author, this is seriously impressive, the writing feels polished and confident, and apart from the occasional tiny mistake, you’d never guess it was their debut. If you’re looking for a story that combines tactical depth, heartfelt character development, and a world you’ll want to get lost in, this is it.
