Description
[RS ✪ Satire List , Comedy List, GameLit] Meet Kai, an overworked, sleep-deprived Lead Backend Developer from London. After spilling a neon-green energy drink on his keyboard and triggering a language-filter glitch with the word "Duck," Kai is sucked into the buggy code of the fantasy game he was building. Armed only with a malfunctioning Voice-to-Text Admin console, Kai must survive by weaponizing his typos like accidentally turning a world-ending "Apocalypse" into an "Alpacalypse" that crushes enemies under a mountain of fluffy llamas, or summoning a 1950s Delicatessen to delete a brick wall. He is joined by the most unoptimized RPG party ever rendered: Sir Gideon:A moss-covered Knight whose legendary sword was accidentally autocorrected into a sticky, sugar-glazed pumpkin. Grom:An 8-foot-tall Orc Guildmaster who wears a tailored suit, treats all combat as "hostile corporate restructuring," and fights with a rotary minigun called "The Severance Package". Maya:The game's enraged Senior Artist who paints Wile E. Coyote-style tunnels onto Blue Screens of Death to escape deletion. Viscount Pigglesworth:An aristocratic NPC who defeats terrifying bosses simply by demanding to speak to their manager and critiquing the terrible fonts on their End User License Agreements. What to Expect:A Broken System:Magic is just bad code, missing textures, and exploiting the economy's 32-bit limit.LitRPG Parody:Boss fights against a singing Purple Dinosaur that deletes you with hugs, a 50-foot psychopathic Paperclip, and corporate "Monetizers" putting reality behind a paywall. No Harem:Just crushing anxiety, massive microtransaction debt, and weaponized bureaucratic entitlement. (Upload Schedule: Daily through February. 5x weekly starting March.) I only share my work on Royal Road and Scribble Hub. - shalizadadRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"Duck You" by AsherVayne is exactly what it promises. This story about autocorrect is very clean and well written, free of (unintentional) typos and mistakes. It is super easy to read and fun. This idea for an isekai and litRPG based on programming is interesting to me as a computers person. I also like the autocorrect powers, they feel fresh in a landscape filled with litRPG.
- B. AquilaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Duck You holds true to blurb promises. If you liked that part, you'll like these chapters as well. It's also interesting to see how each ability functions within themselves and what each thing results in. The chaotic level is high and miscommunication is a hallmark throughout.Style: Style worked for me. I do think a little bit of time setting the scene could enhance the comedy.Story: Having a world be gamelit in progress world makes for a lot of unique and interesting situations. It's enjoyable to not know where things are heading and know in the end you'll be laughing. I think with even more time the underlying story will come up more and more.Grammar: I didn't notice any issues with grammar. Sentence structure is generally shorter. This is better for quicker jokes. Some variation might be helpful in slower moments and in placing the characters in the world.Character score: Each character brings something different to the table and has an excellent juxtaposition. Naturally, I enjoy unhelpful characters of which there are just enough to make it not repetitive or seem like the characters are too much of the same. I don't think I've gotten to all the characters yet.My overall take is I’ve already laughed way more than I want to admit.
- LobsterGodotRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0After a new auto-correct program makes Kai's programming job significantly harder, he finds himself isekaied into a fantasy world. His ability can best be described as a mixture of auto-correct and dad-jokes, constantly misinterpreting his statements in the worst (best) way possible. If Kai could harness his ability he would be completely overpowered, but the system constantly throws him pun-based curveballs every time he thinks he has a grasp on things.I haven't seen an RPG with so many puns since the last time I tried to DM a DnD campaign with friends. This hits so many of the same notes, and reminds me of some of the best elements of sitting around a table collaborating with a bunch of sarcastic assholes (in all of the best possible ways).Style 5/5The chapter setup reminds me of a gag-manga. Instead of moving between plot points or scenes, the chapters flow based around punchlines. As a primarily comedic piece, this works perfectly to punctuate the humor and personality of this fiction.Grammar 5/5The grammar is very tight. I didn't run across the typical typos or errors you'd expect to find in fictions posted on this site. The word usage makes it easy to read, and never feels like I'm getting pulled away from the intended narrative due to odd grammar usage.Story 5/5I'll admit that this story is much more humor-driven than plot-driven. It is less about finding mind-shattering plot twists, and more about traversing between punchlines. It would be unfair to try to compare this narrative to something that it is not trying to be. As a gag-driven story, this flows perfectly and so far the jokes have not grown stale. With this style, the hardest part is trying to keep the gag going over the entire length of the story without it overstaying its welcome, and I am interested to see how the author navigates this challenge. (It's so much harder to keep comedy fresh than it is to drive an epic narrative, so the author taking on this task is admirable.)Character 5/5The biggest
- Lovely-Cosmic-IcicleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great entry in litRPG isekai comedy. The jokes land well and running ones are already hitting. The story is quite fast-paced which I would expect for the genre. Something is always happening and appears to drag the MC one way or another. The MC himself is great, being an unwitting participant in a buggy game who has to deal with a sassy text box misinterpreting him constantly. The text box is a character in its own right, adding an extra layer to litRPG aspect of the work. I also think Gideon is a blast and has great lines. There hasn’t been too much in the way of main plot at this point, though with the type of story this is it doesn’t need to get right to the point with things like that. I imagine with the appearance of Gideon we will learn a bit more about the world and what’s going on in the game. I’m sure they’ll be some “final boss” type enemies for the MC to defeat in wacky ways. I haven’t noticed any grammar issues either. If you are a fan of litRPG or Isekai comedy this is the story for you. The comedy is especially tailored to the absurdity of these types of situations which makes it work.
Eu fiquei cantando "the well of the knigth goes around and around" quando estava dirigindo. Maravilhoso. Obra de Arte. 20/10!
- kurowinter88Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a standout piece of meta-fiction. It successfully blends the "Isekai" genre with technical humor that resonates with programmers while remains accessible to general readers. The central gimmick—the untrustworthy Autocorrect—is used both for comedy and for genuine tension, making it a "High-Concept" success. FYI: my brain hit a loading screen so many times I lost count.Style:The author has a distinct, punchy voice. The use of "System Pings" and "Code Blocks" provides a unique visual rhythm to the prose. The use of Anthropomorphism (the System behaving like a "troll") and Absurdism (the Alpacalypse) is excellent. The contrast between the "Grimdark" Knight (Gideon) and the "Tech-Support" Protagonist (Kai) creates a hilarious tonal dissonance. The style is consistently energetic and rarely sags.Story:The pacing is exceptional. Each chapter introduces a new mechanic (Lag, Missing Textures, Permissions) that escalates the stakes. The shift from Kai being a victim of the world to Kai actively "hacking" the world (using meat to sync lag) shows a satisfying progression. The "Broken World" logic is consistent. It feels like a lived-in video game that was abandoned by its developers, which adds an eerie undercurrent to the humor. The transition from the "Tutorial Meadow" to "Oakhaven" to the "Northern Mines" follows a classic RPG structure but subverts it at every turn.Grammar:The technical execution is strong. The use of brackets for system messages [ ... ] and different dialogue tags for different character archetypes is handled with care. The author uses short, staccato sentences during action/panic scenes to simulate the feeling of a computer "stuttering," which is a clever stylistic choice. The "Duck" vs. "Fuck" intentional errors are handled perfectly as a narrative device.Characters:The cast is the strongest part of the narrative glue.Kai: He is a relatable "everyman" with a specific skill set. He isn't a "Chosen One" because of prophecy; he's the "Chosen One" because h
- D.W.Sutton (Your Favorite Bug)Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This reads panel-to-panel in the best way. Quick cuts, strong visual beats, jokes that land because you can see them, and it keeps moving without stopping to explain itself. The autocorrect power is a stupid-clever hook, and the story wastes zero time turning it into real action instead of a one-note gag. The system pop-ups and “ping” interruptions feel like part of the format, almost like caption boxes popping up between panels. The host of supporting characters are all unique as well, the naive knight, the pompous aristocrat, and Clippy (my favorite so far).Downside: the same strength can get fatiguing. It keeps going and going, and I had to take breaks because the pace stays high and the joke density doesn’t let many moments breathe. It also asks the reader to make a lot of mental leaps between beats. If you like that panel-to-panel snap, it’s a feature. If you want more connective tissue and smoother transitions, it can feel choppy. Some lines read “written to be witty.” A few comparisons and jokes are very on-the-nose (not a dealbreaker, just a style note). If you want a comedy-forward LitRPG/isekai that feels like a comic strip with leveling mechanics and a genuinely fun gimmick, this is an easy recommendation.
- LeToucan.Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is kinda fun. Hilarious at moments, a touch repetitive at others, but highly entertaining nonetheless. The writing is very clean, which is great. It's easy to read and helps the humor get through. Or at least for me because I have some experience with coding... I've got no idea how approachable the novel is or isn't for someone that doesn't.The story is moving forward, though it's not the focus, which is expected of a comedy-centered piece. The characters fit well - Kai has the expected attitude to the bullshit that's happening, which makes him fun. Gideon fulfills his role, though of the main characters, in a way, is the system. That's what actually moves the plot forward, and so I'm reading it as a character... And thus I would expect it to be more like a character, while most of the time it shows itself through the autocorrect and generally toying with Kai through it.That's something I hope happens in the future, that the system starts acting more like a character. At for the humor, that one is mostly on point. Or at least, for me most jokes land, especially the discount -> viscont was so good that I'm writing the review. It's not overwhelming for now, though it will probably need another player-like character in the future.Still, this is overall a lot of fun.
- Liam WestRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm saying "This is such a dumb story" but at the same time I'm chuckling out loud. Really fun and novel idea. One suggestion if you want to do some heavy editing is introduce a reason why the autocorrect is constantly hearing things wrong. Could be a speech impediment, a foreign accent, or maybe MC's tongue is permanently slightly numb from eating something weird? It would let the reader accept all the silliness with an in-world reason, other than "it happened because it would be funny"
- BoodoovooRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I don't usually read litrpg but this one is so unique and silly. I really enjoy the world and the fact that the author has a background in tech! The system is sassy and fun to listen to. The MC just needs a break. I like rooting for someone who is just like "man I really don't want to be here this world is crazy and I hate it." A little bit of Smiling Friends energy but not quite as insane.
